Hi Cristy,
I have questions about booth productivity
I have had a booth for 4 months
In a new vendor mall.
I have sold 110 items.
But I’m basically just paying rent.
When do you decide it’s not profitable and pull your stuff?
I keep hoping it will turn around but lots of vendors have already pulled out.
Unfortunately there are no other vendor malls in my area.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thank you.
You are my idol and my inspiration 💕
Christy says
Hi Lorrie! Thank you…I appreciate that so much! You have to give your people time to find you. Four months is not really enough time to build up repeat business. It sounds like you are selling? I would stick with it for a year. Post your items on FB marketplace and tell people where they can find your items. Shoot quick videos of your booth and post those. Also, if there are craft markets in your area, consider signing up for a couple of those. They are a great way to sell a bunch of items at one time, and that is also a great way to let people know where they can find your booth in the future. I hope that helps! Good luck! XOXO

I love everything you do! It all is so beautiful I can’t find the words to explain how beautiful everything you do is! Everytime you take a piece and change it you do exactly what I would like to know how to do. The colors you pick, the distressing ,the white washing the pretty nautical blues greens whites you use are just breathtaking! You truly are a gifted, talented woman and it’s an honor to watch you weave your magic. When you add roses and fabric it just takes it to a whole other level. This must be what heaven looks like because you are an angel!!!
Christy says
Aww you just totally made my day, Donna!! Thank you so much for your very kind words! I hope you’ll give a makeover a try…just start on something small that you don’t care that much about. Before you know it, you’ll be painting all the things ha ha! XOXO

Hello ChristyK
I just wanted to know if 6 years later that both your closets had stood the test of time. Also your closet is impressive and did you do that awful clothing inventory to ensure that all your items fitted into your space? I am a clothing reseller and also I have my own clothing. I am going to cull but I wondered if you had counted your shirts, dresses, pants, jackets and coats etc.
Christy says
Hi Kim! We sold our home in 2017, but you can see what the closet looked like in our Empty House Tour HERE! These are photos I took after we moved out. It still looked just as good as day one, except I did give it a fresh coat of paint. I did not do an inventory…just guesstimated for each section! Hope this helps! 🙂
Carole says
Well Christy, I must say that you have a beautiful, creative mind. Your home decor reminds me of how I also decorate with simple items from yard sales to Hobby Lobby & done in a tasteful way.
Your “before” & “after” projects are just works of art.
I look forward to viewing your next creations.
Thank you !
Christy says
I appreciate that so much, Carole thank you!! And thank you for following along with my adventures! XOXO
Joanne Sheppard says
Just read on your sisters newly painted kitchen. It turned out beautiful and the breakfast table is beautiful. Wondered why she doesn’t consider stenciling her floor tile to add a beautiful colorful pattern to kitchen.
Christy says
Thank you, Joanne! They want to replace all the flooring downstairs with luxury vinyl at some point. Her tile is not ceramic, but rather that material that clicks and locks together. She is very no-frills so I don’t think she would go for a stenciled floor, but it would be gorgeous! XOXO
Casey says
Thank you SO MUCH! This is an incredible tutorial – I really appreciate your info and pics. I feel confident I can do this! ☺️

You are so welcome!! You can do it! XOXO

Thank you so much for this! My husband asked me to make a quilt for someone he works with. I had never met them so this was a great idea. I looked up their registry and was able to make them a quilt with the theme they wanted. It turned out super cute! Can’t wait to give it to them!
Christy says
You are so welcome! That is fantastic! I’m sure it will be a favorite gift!! XO

We are just beginning the project of updating the kitchen with new cabinets and new lighting. I just can’t throw out the drawers, doors and hardware so I’m looking for ideas on how to repurpose into a shelf and I’ve seen one to repurpose to a bookshelf. I saw your post for old drawers that gave me some great ideas. Anything for old wood cabinet doors? Really looking forward to your blog emails 🙂
Christy says
Hi! Here is one of the simplest projects I did with a cabinet door: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/cabinet-door-upcycle/ I would be saving thank all too! If you search in the search field on my blog for cabinet door, you can see a few more! Have fun! XOXO

I just bought 2 old maple beds and a matching dresser. I am excited (and nervous!) to embark on a new hobby of turning old wooden antique furniture in to something someone would love to own. I am planning to turn the beds in to benches and the dresser in to a vanity. Thank you for your inspiration! Wish me luck!
Christy says
Oh that is awesome!! It is so rewarding to see cast offs transformed into beautiful pieces again. I wish you much success! XOXO

Am going to whitewash some oak end tables and a coffee table. They are very 80’s, very yellow in color with glass inserts. Do you think I can overcome the yellow wood color by using your whitewashed hall table as a tutorial? Other suggestions? Thanks. Love your blog.
Christy says
Hi Diana! Thank you! Yes, should have no problems as I did a similar treatment on our oak kitchen table! XOXO

I have this same exact cart. I got it about 15 years ago for about $50 at Big Lots. I originally bough it to hold microwave. I’ve since moved the microwave to the counter and it to keep my Airfryer and Instant pot. I’m in the process of buying a house and was just talking to my sister about repurposing it when I move and using it as a kitchen island. I want to keep the piece that folds down though. If I cant figure out a way to make that part a little sturdier, then maybe I will just take it off and use it as a standalone cutting board.

I just found out from one of our really good friends that I have full access to his old wood shop. Fully stocked with all the power and hand tools that are needed to make just about anything. The only thing he ask was I clean the shop up first. I have always been into wood working and repurposed crafts. Absolutely love everything I see you have done. I’m really excited to get started on all of the projects I can think of. Thanks for all of what you do and all of your projects you share. I have alot of work ahead of me before I can get started but it’s gonna be worth it.
Christy says
How awesome is that?? I can’t wait for you to get started either! And thank you so much! Happy creating! XOXO
Kelley says
Love your kitchen table. I have the a similar table and I want to do the exact same colors. The top is smooth, no scratches or marks. It’s a light maple color and the bottom pedestal is a crème color turning yellow so I plan to paint it white with your DIY chalk paint. So can I just paint over it the top table? Or do I need sand it to get that look? The grey look. Thank you so much for your help.
Christy says
Hi Kelley! I think you may be referring to our kitchen table I redid back in 2017? I have since found better products to achieve that look that I used on a table that you can see HERE. It does require that you sand the finish down to the wood, but I shared all the how-to in that post. Hope it helps! XO

All your pieces were done with determination & love… easy to see. Although I’m 77, I still like the idea of DIY projects —ones that won’t require professional talent. but imagination! Love the lighter, brighter colors you use! Now, I’m thinking of my over 124 years old, small gate-leg table needs help!
You are an inspiration ❣️
Christy says
Aww I appreciate that so much, Irene, thank you! I bet your table is a beauty! XOXO
