Hello, beautiful friends, and welcome back! If I haven’t told y’all lately, I am so happy when you stop by!
I had planned to share the mirror I had left in my haul, but I ran into a couple of issues with it. I haven’t completely given up on it, but for now it’s a no go. I’ll just say it’s a super cheap plastic mirror and leave it at that!
Then there’s this table:
This would have been the 38th and final piece of my last haul.
Well, I spent two full days driving all over town trying to find chairs to match, and this was literally the only set of four (the fourth one is on the other side of those red chairs) that I could find:
They look like larger versions of children’s chairs, right? And they didn’t match the table at all!
So, that makeover is on pause just until I can find the right chairs, which brings me to today’s post. Since those were the last two items left in my last haul…I am moving right ahead and sharing my BRAND NEW Haul!!
And I’m not sad at all about it!
My first haul of 2023
This one doesn’t have quite as many things as the last, but there’s still quite a bit:
I am always so excited to dive into a new haul of treasures!
Let’s see what’s in there, shall we?
I’ll start with this hot mess dresser that I picked up for $15.99:
I am always drawn to these sad pieces because there is nowhere to go but up!
Next up are two chairs that I found in front of our antique mall where I have my booth with a FREE sign on them…thank you, yes I will have them! I LOVE FREE!!
This one is pretty sturdy:
But this one is super rickety:
That one probably won’t stay a chair, but we’ll see!
I love these cute little chairs as they pair so nicely with desks and dressing tables. When I redo them to go with something, I price them separately and they usually sell first, without the other piece.
I found another one of these gold boxes that I have redone a few of in the past for $5:
I believe it originally came from the Bombay Company.
I found this little woven box as well that I thought could be cute…
That was $2.98.
I picked up this wooden rack thing for $5:
I usually grab any kind of storage shelf as things that serve a purpose generally sell quickly.
Next up is this buffet cart? I’m not sure what it is supposed to be exactly, but I thought it was pretty cool for $25:
I thought this magazine rack was cute too for $5:
Here’s couple of smalls…
This small ceramic jar was $3:
I thought this was a pretty tissue box cover for $3:
Here’s another small, this set of sweet candlesticks that were two for $5:
I couldn’t pass up this stool for $10:
My former neighbor reached out to me in the fall saying she had a few things I might want, and I did!
These items belonged to her grandmother, and she just didn’t have a place for them.
First up is this set of pretty chairs:
She also had this magazine rack table that I thought could be cute painted:
And finally, this beautiful table:
Thank you, Mandy!!
A few more smaller items, this music box plays Amazing Grace and was $5:
I redid a larger box just like this HERE, which turned out pretty cute, so I picked this one up too for $6.95:
This small hanger thing was a pretty little find for $3:
I picked up this candle holder because it was half off of $7.99, but it should paint up nicely:
I should get a good round or two of smalls out of this haul!
I used this box in my Halloween display, but I think I’ll give it a new look:
I was drawn to this one too for some reason. It was half off of $5:
I also got this one for half off…at the Good Will, a different color tag is 50% off each week. It ended up being just under $3:
I love crates or any kind of box with a handle!
This is another one I found for quite a bit more at $6.98:
I just love that one!
This basket is one that I bought from a basket maker at a craft market forever ago:
I no longer have a use for it, so in the haul it went!
This mirror shelf thing was $6.50:
These three frames have been in my stash for years! I paid $1.98 for each on clearance:
I’ll probably redo them all in one post.
This next piece is one of my favorites! I found this chair for half off of $12!!
Isn’t it the cutest?? It had three matching ones that didn’t have the arms, and they would have been so cute with the table I shared at the top, but I thought it might be weird that one had arms while the others did not? I kind of wish I had bought those now!
I also have a few frames as I do with every haul:
These are all really sturdy and nice…unlike the cheap mirrors I had in my last haul!
I thought this wire thing was pretty neat for $6.98:
And finally, there is this dressing table that I picked up for $49:
Silly me was thinking that I could just paint right over the imperfections ALL OVER this one…but it is a mess, y’all! I had to sand almost every surface and fill a ton of gouges and scratches.
I’ll be back with my Furniture Fixer Upper girls and that dressing table makeover on Thursday!
UPDATE: No need to come back…wait until you see this pretty thing now HERE!
And that is my brand new haul!
I hope y’all enjoyed seeing what’s to come over the next few months!!
Have an amazing day!!

I get excited too when I see your new haul !! Can’t wait to see your beautiful makeovers !!
Christy says
Thank you, Lori! It is so exciting for me to have so many new, fun things to choose from! XOXO
Mary Kaiser says
Yay, how fun!! You always find some cool things and I can’t wait to see how all of them turn out!! It is so fun to see you start on a new haul! I play this guessing game on which items you will do first! LOL, I guessed the desk 1st!! Looking forward to watching you make all of it beautiful again!!!
Christy says
Good morning, Mary! Ha ha…yep, you were right!! I usually start with whatever piece is taking up the most room in my garage lol! This will be a fun bunch to work through for sure. Have a wonderful day! XOXO
Janette says
Oh my word I am so excited to see these cast-offs come back to life. My eyes went right to that table with the draw fronts, its the sweetest thing, or rather it will be. What a fabulous haul. Those chairs from your friend are so beautiful, shame she couldn’t keep but I am sure they will be safe in your hands. xx
Christy says
Yay! I am so excited too! Isn’t that table such a cool piece? I can’t wait to do something with that! And yes, those chairs are gorgeous…I was more than happy to take those off her hands lol! XOXO
Tina Casey says
Maybe you can pair up the table and one of the chairs as a desk with matching chair.
Christy says
I’ve done that with a table before and I do love that idea! I like the way you think! I may have to do that if I can’t find enough matching chairs! XOXO
Lilly T says
I have the exact same box that has a flower. Waiting to see what you do with it to get some inspiration!!! 🙂
So many beautiful pieces!
Christy says
Oh funny! I’m always drawn to unique little boxes! XOXO
Cecilia says
Oh fun! I would have grab the cart (tv stand, maybe?) in a second! It would have worked great in my studio to put my printer on…can’t wait to see what you do with that and the other pieces. My sister found me a long dresser – she’s bringing it next week. Once I see it, I can figure out how I want to paint it. I’m going to go scroll through your projects for inspiration. It’s going to give me a ton of storage!
Have a great week!
😊Cecilia
Christy says
Oh yes, it could be a TV start/media cart as well. It was such a unique piece that I grabbed it right away and it can be multifunctional for sure! Happy creating with your dresser…they are fabulous for extra storage! Enjoy your week as well! XOXO
Sue Long says
Sorry but I really like wood, not big fan of white. Interesting seeing how you repurchase things though. I am jealous of some of your finds though, not a lot available in the area I live.
Christy says
That’s okay, Sue! I hope you still enjoy seeing what these treasures become. I do go thrifting A LOT, and you have to go at the start of the week, like Monday or Tuesday for the best selection, just after the weekend when people are purging. XOXO
Tania says
Great finds, how about mismatched chairs for the table? All painted the same color they become a fun “set”! I’d be careful painting the Florentine tissue box if that is your plan. They are very popular as is and usually sell for good prices on Etsy and eBay (anywhere from $30 – $80)!
Tania
Christy says
Thanks, Tania! I did consider the mixed chair option, so we shall see! I will have to look into that box. I believe it is just a reproduction, but I’ll check it out for sure. XOXO
Janice Holt says
Can’t wait to see what you do with this haul. Love that chair also and yes, free is always good. Anybody that has ever redone something has ran into a snag so like you, you just have to go with the flow, Thanks for sharing,
Christy says
Free is the best for sure! And yep…I’ll eventually get back to those pieces lol! XOOX
Niki says
Nice haul Christy! It’ll be interesting to see what you do with it all.
Christy says
Thanks, Niki! The hunt is always so fun, but time to get to work! XOXO
Olivia says
I look at your latest haul and see dreary brown. I can’t wait to see you work your magic with the new pieces. I know they will be bright and cheerful and ready for a new life. Thank you for sharing your visions and ideas. Looking forward to another year.
Christy says
Thank you, Olivia! I too see a giant sea of brown lol. I wish I could redo everything and hang onto it long enough to stage the photo in the exact same way but with all the afters for comparison! XOXO
Pam Emma says
Christy,
I can’t wait to see what you do with each item in your haul. You are such an inspiration to me and love your style. I paint and repurpose items I find but have never posted any make overs. You have opened my eyes to items/furniture I find at estate sales, Goodwill and those that I just happen to come across, that I would not have thought to repurpose and redo. So thank you for that.
Pam Emma
Christy says
Aww thank you, Pam! I love that so much! It’s so nice to have a creative outlet…enjoy! XOXO
Nancy Sharp says
I can’t wait to see the “afters” of all these pieces!
Christy says
Me too, Nancy!! I’m excited about this one! XOXO
Michele M. says
I am shivering with…….anticipation!
Going to be SO much fun to see the magic happen, Christy!
Christy says
Ha ha yay! It’s going to be fun for me too!! XOXO
Mariah Beaney says
Hi Christy! I love your choices for your new haul. I am in a funk but seeing your new stash brightened up my mood. Making something over always makes me feel good and seeing your makeovers gives me inspiration. Thank you for sharing your new haul with us all today. It’s got me excited about going through my projects again. Have a wonderful day 😊
Christy says
I love this SO much, Mariah, and I’m thrilled that it has sparked some creativity! Enjoy!! XOXO
Cheryl Atkinson says
Hi Christy!! I can’t wait to see all the makeovers. I need to go thrifting.
Christy says
Hi Cheryl! I have to not go thrifting now lol…that is always hard for me! XOXO
Carolyn Huffman says
Just a FYI, dining chair sets usually have a host chair with arms (sometimes an armed chair for the hostess too) and the other chairs are sans arms. Sorry you missed the armless chairs that matched. Looking forward to all your new makeovers!
Christy says
Thank you, Carolyn! I thought there were usually two captain’s chairs, but apparently that wasn’t always the case. I’m bummed I left those behind lol. XOXO
Jan says
Your eye for seeing potential is a gift and your creativity is off the charts!
I absolutely cannot wait to see what you do with all of these treasures.
Christy says
Aww that means so much, Jan, thank you! XOXO
Jewels says
Christy, I always like seeing what you have in each new haul. I have a similar haul I want to work on this year. Some of the pieces I have had for years, but finally have time to tackle since I am newly retired!
Thanks for your inspiration!
Christy says
Thank you, Jewels, and congratulations on your retirement! Now you can create all day…enjoy! XOXO
Elaine James says
Please stop advertising Temu. I ordered from this place. they do not give you the discount that they advertise. I spent $138.
The items arrived, & they are of very low quality, in other words, they are junk products. I will never order anything from them again.
Christy says
Hi Elaine! I don’t choose my advertisers, I have an ad network that does that for me, but I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience. XO
Connie says
Love that new haul. Yeah you should have bought those other three chairs. Hindsight is 20-20 right?!😂. I can’t wait to see what you do with all those goodies. You give me so much inspiration for my own upcycles. Battling cancer right now and your work cheers me up so much! Thanks so much. Cheers from Whidbey Island Washington.
Christy says
I am so sod I left those chairs behind. I’m hoping I’ll find even better ones to ease the pain lol! And I feel so honored to be able to be a bright spot in a your tough world at the moment. You seem to have a great outlook, and I’ll keep you in my prayers! Linger a little longer for me when taking in those gorgeous views! XOXO
Robin says
You always have a varied and unique haul, Christy. I am there are so many nice low-backed chairs, for sale or free, to set around a table. They are all lovely and waiting to be reimagined. I wish I could take them all home with me but I have absolutely no use for extra chairs.
Christy says
Thanks, Robin! The hunt is always so fun! I’m sure I will come across some that will work eventually maybe even for free! XOXO
Geri says
Looks like you found some cool things, one of those things I saw at our local thrift store out here in Kansas but passed up on it, so I will be looking forward to seeing what you make with it!
Christy says
I’m excited about what I found for this one…I hope I do whatever you passed on justice! XOXO
Ewa says
Cudne rzeczy wybrałaś 🙂 I również ,jak wszyscy nie mogę się doczekać , bo to , co wychodzi spod Twoich rąk jest po prostu prześliczne.
Christy says
To wiele znaczy, dziękuję!! XOXO
Cheryl says
Can’t wait to see each one!!
Christy says
Me too, Cheryl! A new haul is so exciting! XOXO
May says
I’m usually amazed at your hauls. I find that I have 3 or 4 things just like or very similar to what you’ve chosen. i’m eager to see what you do with those items.
Re: the set of chairs that had one with arms, I bought an Ethan Allen drop leaf dining table with six chairs, two with arms, all in Maplewood from the mid sixties. I am to understand that it’s not unusual for the head of the table to have an arm chair. anyway, you would have been within decor etiquette to have bought the set.
Christy says
Oh good…hopefully, I’ll do those things justice lol! And yes, I am always learning and this has taught me that it wasn’t unusual to have only one armchair in a set. I’ll definitely know better next time! Thanks, May! XOXO
Amy Giannini says
I think I have your rickety chair’s twin in my storage shed waiting for me to do something with it–I’ll be watching carefully!
BTW, I think sometimes in vintage and older dining sets, only the chair at the head of the table, or sometimes the ones at both ends, had arms. At least, I had a set of carved rose chairs like that; might explain the set you saw.
Christy says
Oh funny! I have a plan for that one, so we’ll see if it works out lol. And yes, I learned something new…I too have arm chairs in my set on the ends, but apparently, there used to be only one arm chair. Wish I would have nabbed those others now! XOXO
