Hello dear friends! Welcome back! Today I have a fun little makeover for you.
I found these buffet lamps at the thrift store priced at $8.25 each:
That’s a bit pricey to me for these skinny lamps, but I had a full punch card that gave me 20% off my purchase that day, so I ended up getting them for $6.60 a piece before tax. And, I loved that there was a pair of them!
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
I started by giving both lamps two coats of a mix of 50% Dixie Belle’s Cotton and 50% Driftwood.
Then, to have fun with the spindly parts, I decided to use my FrogTape to add stripes!
I gave them two coats of Cotton and pulled the tape off right after applying the second coat, while the paint was still wet:
I have been having a lot of fun with waxes lately, and to play up the details on this lamp, I decided to add some white wax:
Using a wax brush to apply the wax on detailed pieces like this really helps to get it in all those grooves.
I used a clean soft cloth to remove the excess wax and buff it to a soft sheen. The wax is a topcoat, so there is no need to seal after with anything else.
Here is how these cuties turned out:
Well, that was one of them, but of course I did both to match…
Aren’t they cute?
I found the shades at HomeGoods back in the Fall for $9.99 each and bought them to have on hand since I redo a lot of smaller lamps. They were the perfect size and color for these lamps!
That made these lamps about $17 each for what I had to buy. I have them priced at $39 each in my booth.
Here you can see how the white wax is nestled perfectly in all those details…
This shot is from behind our kitchen island…
If you’re new around here and have never seen our kitchen, that was a TOTAL DIY job and you can see the big reveal that includes all the projects we did HERE!
This photo was a fan favorite from that project…
I’m not sure why. I mean, I was just showing how my hubby was doing some demo for me.
How did we get off track…let’s get back to those lamps!
They looked so pretty in my living room that I was tempted to keep them! I dropped them off at my booth on Saturday though.
Another close up of how the wax plays up the details…
The stripes are easy to add if you use your tape as a guide. Add a strip of tape at the bottom, then another right next to that one, then a third. Then go back and remove the second piece and continue to use that piece as a guide for the rest. You can see more on how easy it is to add stripes with no math HERE.
The finial got the same treatment:
I hope y’all enjoyed this quick makeover! I recently shared another lamp that I used darker wax on to play up the pretty details:
If you missed that one, you can see it HERE.
And that is another project done!

Hi Christy,
Thanks for the chuckle about the ‘fan favorite photo’. When I first met my hubby he was a Royal Marine Commando (UK) and could do push-ups in a hand-stand position (head down, feet up resting on a wall). Now… not so much… Still my forever man though!
Loving the lamps, as with all your work.
Have a great day.
Christy says
You’re welcome, ha ha! Oh wow…I don’t think my hubby could ever do that lol. Thank you, Sherin! Enjoy your day too! XOXO

I love these lamps and the stripes just make them. I would have had to keep them for sure. Just lovely. In the near future could you reshare your Christmas village houses. Wanting to do some soon. Would great appreciate it. Are they on Youtube? If so I can look there.

Tara C says
Love this lamp transformation! The flower arrangement on the table is so pretty! Are they real?
Christy says
Thank you, Tara! The flowers are just good fakes. They are a mix of tiny white rose looking buds and greenery that I purchased at Michaels. I love anything wild like that that looks like I grabbed a handful out of my garden! XOXO
Sandra says
Thank you for telling us the cost and how much you charge…it helps me to get a feel for pricing….I hate spending money on lampshades…
Christy says
Sure thing, Sandra! Pricing is always the hard part, and I too hate to spend money on lampshades. HomeGoods doesn’t have a ton to choose from, but I can usually find what I need for a decent price! XOXO
Rosie says
Super cute! I like that you gave a different spin on it with the horizontal stripes.
Great job!
Christy says
Thank you, Rosie! XOXO
Patti says

Those lamps look great! And appreciate your tip with the tape to make stripes. Nice pic of your hubby. Lol
Christy says
Thank you, Donna! Ha ha! XOXO
gloria says
The lamps are lovely now! But don’t you just hate those bright orange electric cords? Sometimes the dark cords look awful as well. White ones clean up pretty nice, but it always seems like lamps have cords that don’t match at all. Is it safe to paint those to make them a bit more unobtrusive?
Christy says
Thank you, Gloria! And yes! Why can’t they just make them white? I bet you could paint them though! XOXO
Jackie C says
Girl! Only you would think of those adorable stripes! I’ve walked past a million of these lamps at goodwill. Not anymore! Love them!
Thanks!
xoxo
Christy says
Thank you, Jackie!! You know I love to stripe just about anything! XOXO

Christy, you are my hero – I cannot even believe how you transform things to beautiful items! I would loooooove to see your booth in person one day.
Your hubs looks great in that shot! ♥
I do have to tell you that if those buffet lamps don’t sell bring them back home – they look perfect where you styled them for the post!
Christy says
Aww you are so sweet, Michele! Thank you! My hubby appreciates the love ha ha! And luckily, the lamps sold already, but I did have a hard time letting them go! XOXO
