Amazing friends!! It is the final day of 2019! Can you even believe it? I hope everyone enjoyed a blessed holiday! I know I sure did! Since then, I have enjoyed a few do-nothing days which is always nice after the rush towards Christmas.
Today I’m sharing your favorite furniture makeovers of mine from 2019!
These are not my all-time top furniture makeovers, but just the ones I redid this past year. I didn’t do quite as many furniture makeovers as I usually do, but I really stepped up the smalls, which was a fun change of pace! I think y’all enjoy seeing the smaller projects sometimes too. I’ll be back on Thursday with your favorites from those non-furniture makeovers.
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love too!
It’s always fun for me to look back and see what were favorites. I hope you enjoy it too! I included the links to each post in case you want to visit any of them.

I decided to share the top 13 this year! My number 13 most enjoyed furniture makeover was this Folding Wooden Chair Makeover:
I had it out at our yard sale in May for $5, but there were not takers, so I decided to finally do something with it. I was inspired by a stenciled piece in my friend, Jen’s book Amazing Furniture Makeovers (An amazing book!):
I was SO happy to have finally done something with this chair!
12
Coming in at number 12 is the Stinky Dresser Makeover:
It wasn’t until it was loaded in my car that I realized how much it stunk! I’m all for freebies, but free stink? No, thank you.
I was able to remedy the odor with an unexpected substance, and with the addition of fabric to the drawer fronts, it became a lovely piece:
It even had a secret hidden drawer! It sold not too long after I loaded it into my booth.

At number 11 is Grandma’s Antique Side Table:
We found this in her shed and it had probably been there for decades. It got a whole lot of happy to make up for it!

I love this Farmhouse Green…so fresh and light for Summer!

The next makeover in our countdown is this $24 Estate Sale Cabinet Makeover:
I found this and a few other pieces for a steal at an estate sale this year. This one got a whole new softer look with a soft gray and white and it sold right away:

The great size of this cabinet would make it work in just about any room that could use a little extra storage!
9
Number nine on the list is this $19 Desk Makeover I recently reshared:
This was another piece I scored from that same estate sale. I immediately regretted buying this one when I got it home and realized how short it was. Luckily, I found a solution!
In the post after this one, I shared how I redid a $6 Thrift Store Mirror to match to turn it into a sweet dressing table:

I loved the French Ceramics Transfer on this one, but the girl who bought it planned to paint over the transfers.

Next on the list is this Drop Leaf Side Table Makeover:
The original idea for this one was a big fail, but plan B was a winner:
Plan B doesn’t get enough credit sometimes!
7
At number seven is the third furniture piece I scored at that estate sale, the Estate Sale Shelving Unit:
This was a steal of a deal at only $60. It was covered head to toe in kitchenware though, so others may not have realized it was for sale.
I used the same color as our walls, Campfire Ash by Behr, and a stencil to freshen this one up:
I now use it as a display piece for Dixie Belle products in my booth.
6
Number six is a piece that I have held onto for forever, Night Table Take Two:
I originally painted it this bright aqua color back in 2014, but it was time for a soothing new look, so I could put it in my booth:
This piece was the inspiration for the stinky dresser makeover and I figured I could sell them as a set. They each ended up selling separately!
5
Number five woot woot! This is one of my favorite makeovers from 2019! It’s the Antique Headboard turned Bench! I found the headboard for only $7:
I think we all agreed this was probably vintage and not antique, but with the help of some legs from a thrift store chair, this made for one pretty bench!

This one is still available in my shop!

Coming in at number four is How to Recover a Tufted Footstool (the Cheater’s Way!). It started out as this $12 thrift store find:
I originally bought it thinking that I could reuse those pretty legs on something else but ended up just redoing the whole thing, and yep, I totally cheated those tufts! See how at the link below the image!

I was surprised that this next makeover came in at number three, the $12 Oak Night Table Makeover:
I think it was just so sad before that y’all really liked the after in comparison!
Ya’ll especially liked the clock-faced knobs and I had some fun with the drawers too…
One customer bought three of the pieces I’m sharing today!
2
Number two was a favorite for sure! It was actually a redo of a dresser I brought home from my shop because it just wouldn’t sell. It’s the Antique Dresser Updated with Transfer.
It originally started out like this:
It was in such great condition that I didn’t have the heart to paint the whole thing, so I left the four out of five drawers and the top and painted the rest:
It sat way too long in my booth like this, so I brought it home and gave it red0 #2 with a transfer:

Of course, it sold in just a couple of weeks!

And your number one favorite furniture makeover of 2019….drumroll…is our master bedroom furniture!!
I have to admit, it was my favorite too!!
Painted Bedroom Furniture and Master Bedroom Reveal
And those are your favorites from this year! I’m always a little sad when some of my favorites don’t make it into the countdown, so here are three more of my favorite furniture pieces!
First up is this $5 Wooden Stool I redid way back in 2013:
It has been hanging around my storage room for several years looking just like this, just waiting to be redone. I finally added it to my Storage Room Haul of Shame to get it done:
Adding tufts and nailhead trim really gave this sad little bench life again. It just missed the top 13!
Another favorite of mine was this $10 Yard Sale Chair, also from my Haul of Shame pile:
I liked this one because it was so ho-hum before and this was another piece that I have been storing for ages! Stencils really helped give this chair personality!
And finally, I loved this Cottage Inspired Drop Leaf Table Makeover:
Mostly because of this fun splash of Mint Julep that I just love!

I hope you enjoyed looking back with me! Did any of your favorites make the list?

I love everything I see you makeover. There is always such a magical difference. But my favorite out of the 13 would have to be the bed made into a bench. So pretty.
Looking forward to seeing your posts this next year.
Christy says
Thank you, Nancy! I do love that bench as well! Happy New Year! XOXO
Katherine says
Hello Christy.
My personal favorites are your transformation of headboards into unique benches that can be used everywhere. They are just lovely.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Katherine! I’m a sucker for a sweet headboard bench! Happy New Year! XOXO
Gail Martin says
You have inspired me to paint my bedroom furniture. Funny story about that bedroom furniture: I have a king size sleigh bed with night stand and dresser. When I purchased it, I thought my bedroom was WAY bigger. It was NOT. I have thought about getting rid of it and getting a queen set. But I love what I have. I think I may paint it this summer or wait until I retire in 2 years.
Thank you for all the inspiration you give us readers. You inspire us to be a bit bolder.
Christy says
Oh I love that, Gail! Thank you!! I love that you are feeling inspired to tackle your own set. I felt the same way about our sectional when we first bought it. It didn’t look nearly as big in the showroom! Happy New Year! XOXO
Addie says
I LOVE them all!!! I can’t even pick a best. I am saddened to read the girl painted over the pretty blue flower transfer. ;( …but once paid for…it’s hers!!!
May I ask….that black bench on your porch (outside) what finish did you put on it? I like the shine/ sheen. Did you paint it in chalk paint? And how is it holding up outside?…….too many questions…sorry!!!
May you and your family have a Blessed New Year 2020!!!! Keep up all the good work. XXOO the Addster!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Addie!! I was sad too, but yep, once it’s hers, she can do with it as she pleases! I bought the bench on the porch on Overstock.com, so I’m not sure what the finish is exactly. My porch is covered, but it has held up great for two years. Happy New Year!! XOXO
Mikki Gilmore says
I’m sure you hear this all the time, but honestly you are my favorite re-doer. Is that a word? My favorite makeover doer. Oh well, I hope you get my point! Looking forward to another great year of watching you work. Happy New Year!!! ~Hugs~ XOXO
Christy says
Aww you are so kind, Mikki! Thank you so much!! I am so blessed that I get to do this every day and I am so looking forward to a brand new year of makeovers!! Happy New year! XOXO
