This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of FrogTape® for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
Have any of y’all ever used FrogTape®? It’s no secret that it’s my go-to tape for painting projects. I mention it all the time. I usually use it on furniture projects but was recently challenged by FrogTape® to update a wall with it. My Mom volunteered her walls for me to play with. Wasn’t that so kind of her? 😉 FrogTape® provided the tape, my Mom provided the paint, and I provided the grunt labor.
Here is the wall we decided to add something to:
This is the wall opposite her front door, so it’s the first place your eyes are drawn to when you come in.
We decided a stripe in a shade darker would be perfect. (Actually she decided that. 🙂 )
And here is the finished result:
It’s very subtle, but elegant.
Here is what I used to complete this wall:
- Paint tray
- 6″ Foam roller
- Yard stick
- Pencil
- FrogTape® brand painter’s tape
- 2″ Angled paint brush (not pictured)
Using a yard stick was much easier than trying to use a floppy tape measure. We decided on 6″ stripes, so I measured the wall then divided it by 6″ to get the length of space I needed between each stripe. I penciled it off at the top, at the bottom, and two places in between. Then I hung my tape using the pencil marks as a guide.
I removed any switch plate covers and outlet covers that would be in the way. Then I started cutting in across the ceiling, above the baseboard, and around the window using my angled paint brush.
Then I rolled out the stripes.
This only took one coat since there was barely a difference in the color.
The Base color is Classic Taupe by Behr, and the stripe is Toasted Wheat also by Behr. Both are in an eggshell finish.
I normally pull the tape off while everything is still wet, but I had to be home in time to get Brennan off the bus, so I left it be. We ran errands and came back several hours later, pulled the tape off and it came off perfectly! You can actually leave the FrogTape Multi-Surface up on most surfaces for up to 21 days, and up to 60 days if you use the FrogTape Delicate Surfaces! And with its PaintBlock® Technology, it prevents paint from bleeding through no matter what surface you’re using it on! That’s good stuff.
Perfect stripes!
My Mom was thrilled with the results…
The colors work perfectly with the tile backsplash in the kitchen.

Here are a couple of projects I shared previously using FrogTape Delicate Surface tape…
This Paris-Inspired Table was part of my March Madness series:
(I used Delicate Surface since the paint that was underneath was pretty fresh.)
And this was a bench I redid in a fun harlequin pattern:
Now I did receive compensation for completing my wall project using FrogTape products, but that was just a bonus. I rave about them all them time for free!

Wonderful job! Where did the candle sticks come from? Did you make them?
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Pat! I wish I could take credit for the candlesticks, but my Mom purchased them years ago. She doesn’t recall where. XO

Thanks, Nanette! I wish the walls at my house were less textured. I’d love to try this in my own house. 🙂

Love the subtlety of the stripes Christy – very nice. I love Frog Tape, it’s the only tape I’ll use for stripe detail and I love their wave and chevron striped tape too. Wish I had a room I could paint to enter this contest.
Christy K. James says
Thanks, Marie! I wish I could enter the contest, but I’m not eligible boohoo. Too bad you weren’t still helping to pull that sweet nursery together, that could have been perfect for this contest!
