I am finally getting around to sharing my booth space! Last year I shared my Christmas Market Booth, which was part of a big Thanksgiving weekend craft market here in Virginia Beach. I did shows with my parents for about 15 years, but as much as I loved it, I really wanted to find a more permanent space to sell my pieces. In October I finally moved into a space at the Virginia Beach Antique Mall. I always enjoy seeing people’s booth spaces, so I thought you might too! (Forgive the photos, the lighting is terrible and some are quickie cell phone pics!)
Here is what I started with on move-in day:
And here it is when I first loaded in:
That Harlequin Bench was the first thing I sold. And then I added this blue bookcase for display and a pop of color, that I found on an online yard sale and painted…
And then I brought in the Desk with the French Graphics:
And the French Provincial Chairs I redid that were an estate sale find in very sad condition (quick cell phone pic):
They didn’t last a week…I also sold the headboard that I reupholstered to match. I delivered it only to find the chairs had sold already!
This dresser was also an online yard sale find. I actually purchased it painted very similarly to this and thought it would be a really quick money-maker. I would just stick in my booth and make a bunch of money on it, right?
Well, don’t ever buy something like this at night. It looked pristine at night and I drove home madly chuckling to myself about how I got the best deal ever. The next morning as it sat in my living room, I could see that the paint job was horrendous! I had to repaint and wax and fix a broken drawer, then I painted the handles also and lined the drawers. It suffered a bit of damage to the veneer on the bottom of the right side on move-in day so I really need to fix that!
I love the mirror. Hi there!
The shutters are from my booth set up. I found them at a yard sale for $5 each, and spray painted them. I was able to mount them right to the wall here. I added white lights along the top, but I don’t have any pics of that yet.
If you’ve followed me for long, you probably recognize a lot of these pieces from my posts!
I marked the pieces that have sold…
Yah…so…I better keep working! You could say business is booming! I added a couple of end tables that I redid recently which I will share soon, and a yard sale drop-leaf table, along with a few smaller pieces. So it actually still looks like I have some inventory.
My business name is Lovely Things Furniture & Décor, which fits perfectly! If you are ever in the Virginia Beach area, stop on by. We’re at 3900 Bonney Road in the Virginia Beach Antique Mall!
Hope you enjoyed this peek at my booth. I’ll update from time to time to keep you posted on how it’s going. 🙂

I LOVE your blog site. Look forward to it every week. I would really like to try to make the wooden serving tray in the first picture of your mall showroom. Do you have instructions anywhere? I have looked and looked and can’t find a tutorial. Please keep up the wonderful work. And have a Merry, Merry Christmas.
Christy K. James says
Thank you, Linda! I appreciate the sweet words more than you know. As for the serving tray, it is made from old fence pickets and you can see the how-to here: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/old-fence-pickets-to-pretty-tray/ I show how to attach the boards using rulers, but you can also nail the center pieces right in place if your frame is thick enough. Good luck 🙂

Christy, you are seriously talented. Your booth is gorgeous. It was fun to see the items in your shop that you have shown on your blog and the process of re-doing them. I am so happy for you to receive such confirmation that your hard work was worth every effort. Don’t stop ever.
Christy K. James says
Thanks so much, Carole! It’s always scary to put your things out there…and hope that they will sell, so I couldn’t be more thrilled with the response so far. It will definitely keep me busy! 🙂
Carole says
I have had a few antique booths in my time and it is fun when your items sell, however, it can be sad when some things just sit there collecting dust. It doesn’t look as if you will have that problem though. Keep up the effort because you have so many DIY projects that are amazing.
Christy K. James says
Things were very slow for the first couple of weeks which had me worried, but then things really started moving! Hopefully that will continue after the Holidays. I appreciate your sweet words, Carole! XO

I recognize a lot of those pieces from your blog Christy. Wow, you’ve sold a lot already! One of my goals for 2015 is to get booth space at our local antique mall. We only have one and so getting space is difficult. Your post today got me all revved up and excited about reaching that goal. Everything in your booth space is gorgeous and no surprise those chairs that I wish were sitting in my living room sold quickly!
Christy K. James says
Yes, most of those pieces have been blogged about ha ha! There is an Antique Mall and auction center not far from me and I actually put my name on their waiting list last January and waited and waited. I checked in a few times and I was assured I was still on the list. Very frustrated, in September I decided to check out another Antique Mall that’s just a little farther away and he had two spaces next to each other opening up October 1st so I snatched them both up. Then I get a call from a friend who has a booth at the other place who tells me a new person has taken over and I was never on the list! Turns out the lady who ran it didn’t like refabbed pieces, only antiques! Lucky for me though because I’ve had a lot of success where I am! And I had three different people wanting me to ship those chairs! I definitely should have charged more as fast as they sold. Hope your week is going well! 🙂
Marie@The Interior Frugalista says
That’s ridiculous! Sounds like it was a blessing in disguise though because you’re at a much better location. I’m definitely going to keep this in mind as my name goes on the waiting list at ours. Wishing you much success with your booth in 2015!
Christy K. James says
Yes, very happy where I am! Thanks, Friend…good luck to you! XO

I’ve been looking forward to this post after reading that you opened a booth a couple of months back. I’m glad it’s finally here! I must say, I’m not surprised with how gorgeous it looks, or how well everything is selling; your work is always spectacular! Nice job!!
Christy K. James says
Oh good, well here it is! I was waiting to get it nice and stocked before I took official pictures, but things kept selling. I ended up using pics from several different visits instead. Thanks for the very sweet comment…loving your TP ornaments! 🙂

Not so far if you’re coming from CA ha ha, but still a days drive away from Savannah. I lived in San Francisco for a couple of years and Mountain View, Ca for a couple of years when I was very young. Last time I visited the West Cost was three years ago when my sister lived in WA. Merry Christmas!
