Happy Tuesday, dear friends!! Today I am finally sharing all the goodness that I was blessed with on Mother’s Day! A super sweet local reader of mine, Mary, messaged me the night before Mother’s Day asking if I would be interested in several antique pieces she had been storing in her garage. She was moving and would not have the space to take them with her. With all the thrift stores closed at the time, I was running low on inventory, so the timing was perfect. And how could my Hubby grumble about me filling the garage back up on Mother’s Day, right??
If you missed my post on Thursday, I shared this dressing table that belonged to Mary’s grandmother, also her namesake:
She had asked me how much I would charge to paint it for her, and of course I was happy to do it in exchange for her generosity. She requested a simple white makeover, my favorite!
You can see the whole reveal HERE.
When I was talking with my sister about how I was going to get these pieces home, she offered her husband and his trailer…
It worked perfectly!
And here is what was packed in there!
First up is this tall dresser:
It has veneer chipping in several places, but the beautiful carved detail at the bottom had me swooning!
There is also a long dresser to match:
I already have an idea for these two!
Up next is this gorgeous single bed:
Just look at those gorgeous details:
I also got this little table:
And this cute drop-leaf kitchen table:
This next piece might be my favorite! I love the lines of this dresser:
Isn’t it gorgeous?
It needs some work…
But I am hoping that will sand up nicely!
This dresser also has this gorgeous mirror:
It needs to be secured back together as the joints are all loose, but I can’t get over those beautiful details!
This dresser also has a bedside table to match:
We’ll see if I can reattach that drawer front.
And finally, this beautiful spindle headboard:
And thats what was packed on that trailer!
What a haul, right?? Thank you so much for thinking of me, Mary!!
I’ve got my work cut out for me with this group, but I am excited to get started! And I know my hubby is too since I pretty much filled our garage back up!
Some of these will be time consuming, so I will be working on these and my very first thrift store haul since the shutdown at the same time. There are lots of smalls in there to sprinkle in to buy me time for the larger pieces!
Here’s a peek of what I found that day:
I’ll be back to share all my finds that day on Thursday!!
UPDATE: See what I brought home from that trip HERE now!
See y’all then!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

Wow what an amazing score that was. How awesome that Mary thought of you and actually lived close enough for you to pick it all up!! It was so nice of her to think of you, plus she is a smart woman because if she follows your blog she know that you will bring those pieces back to life, and new and beautiful life! Looking forward to seeing what you do with all of them, and I am sure Mary is as well!
Christy says
Yes, it really was an amazing score, and I am so grateful that Mary thought of me! These pieces would have had to go on the curb, and I know that would have broken her heart. I’m so happy I can give them the love they deserve! XOXO
Robin Stephens says

Right??? I am so excited too! That mirror is stunning and I am already contemplating how I can keep that dresser and mirror…might have to ditch my sons dresser when he leaves for college and replace it with this one lol!! XOXO

OH man would I ever be excited to get these! I finally started my own booth (June 1st officially.) And I have to laugh when you mention your husband and filling up the garage!! I have the same problem–“if you bring home one more thing…” LOL there is currently a table stuffed in my car, which will stay there until I get my table done that I am working on now!! But I am having so much fun with this stuff!! Thanks again for all the inspiration!
Christy says
Congratulations on your booth…how exciting!! My hubby does give me the side-eye when I bring a bunch of things home at once, but I can usually sneak most things in without him noticing lol. I have totally had to keep things in my car too because there was no room in the garage ha ha! Ahh the life of a furniture painter!! XOXO
Stacey says
Wow!!! So fortunate you are!! Some really beautiful pieces!! I can’t wait to see how you bring them back to life, gorgeous and fresh! Just lovely pieces!!! 🙂

Rebecca - Knoxville, TN says
Nice haul! Can’t wait to see makeovers. You’re very good at tackling projects and moving them out. Do you find that posting them on your blog is a motivator? My garage has what I call “the huddle.” Projects were set out and over time more added around it until I’m not 100% sure what’s in the middle, haha. Embarrassing for sure! Maybe a blog of getting my house of 26 years ready to list/sell next year would hold me accountable 😉
Christy says
Thanks, Rebecca! And yes, yes, and yes!! This blog absolutely holds me accountable! I am a big proponent of lists for getting things done and the “hauls” where I cross pieces off one by one really help me more than anything. Perhaps if you either make a list of what you have to redo, or take a photo of a grouping of them, and then start making each of them over one by one, crossing them off as you go will help you get through yours? That even helps me refrain from thrifting as much as I’d like because I know I have a haul to get through already. Then as a reward, when my pile is starting to dwindle, I get to shop for more! XOXO
Cecilia from Georgia says
Rebecca, I love the name “huddle”! Describes my storage shed perfectly.

Christy says
Me too, Marietta!! Isn’t that mirror insane with all those gorgeous details?? I think I will save that piece for last as I am going to try and keep it!! XOXO
Cecilia from Georgia says
Christie, I don’t know how you get everything done with a family to take care of! I know you are just giddy over your new treasures. I am working hard to finish some big pieces but there is always a hang up with something 🙁 that slows me down. You seem to move along and get it done! You are so inspiring!! Have a safe and fun Independence weekend!!
Christy says
One good thing about this business and working from home is that I can go out into the garage and add a coat of paint, come in and throw in some laundry, then go back out and add another coat of paint, etc. So in the end, it all eventually gets done, but I promise you that I run into my share of issues too! That can be frustrating for sure, especially when you are working with older pieces that have issues. I have a “deadline” with my blog and that helps keep me moving. I hope you enjoy your weekend too, my friend! XOXO
Marie-Interior Frugalista says
Wow, that is quite the haul! You lucky gal you. I can’t wait to see what you do with each piece.
