Our Christmas Courtyard {And Why it’s so Special}

Christmas Courtyard at Confessions of a Serial Do-it-Yourselfer

Hello my dear friends. Today I’m sharing my courtyard all decked out for Christmas as part of the Welcome Home Christmas Tour.

I’m not sure if you’d call it a courtyard really, but we honestly don’t have a better name for it so courtyard it is!

Christmas Courtyard

We live at the beginning of a busy street, so this space offers a little privacy from the neighbors.

Christmas Courtyard

This is a perfect spot to sit in the morning when the weather is nice.

We are also very close to our neighbors as you can see…

That’s the side of their house behind the stone wall. Luckily my neighbors are awesome! (It’s a small price to pay to be a mile from the beach!)

Christmas Courtyard

It was drizzling pretty much the whole day I shot these photos, but it really adds to the wintry feel. I know it felt wintry! (See how I made the Faux Fresh Greenery Arrangement here.)

My youngest and I have cupcake dates here. It’s fun to him, and I don’t have to pick cake out of the carpet.

Christmas Courtyard

Behind the French doors is our dining room. I shoot  a lot of my photos for projects there because of all the light the doors let in. You can see a table behind them…it holds my Christmas Village.

This is the DIY Christmas Twig Wreath I made last year. I just added a fresh bow and it’s good as new!

Love this little woodland Santa. He looks like he’s carved of wood, but he’s ceramic.

When the sun begins to set and the lights start to twinkle, everything is so cozy…

Want to know why it’s so special?

This is where my Hubby and I were married!

This is my son escorting me. He was seven, and so excited to be a part of our special ceremony.

Christmas Courtyard Wedding

We were married the day after Christmas.

It was perfect. 🙂

I already shared my “Two Turtle Doves”  Christmas Wreath and mantel

Next week I’ll share the rest of the inside…

First of all, I love the fact that you only live one mile from the beach. So awesome.
Second, I love the fact that you have a “courtyard’. Also awesome.
Third, I love love love the fact that you got married there! The MOST awesome!!!
Finally, you really did do a great job on everything. The sign, the Santa, all the greenery and lights!
Your house would be the house that I would drive by and catch a glimpse of the decor and think “man, I wish I could take a closer look!”
(I’m not the only one who does this right?)
Thanks so much for sharing and I look forward to seeing the inside!
    Have a super day!

Actually, Christy, if you were in my neighborhood … I’d enlist your help to tweak my decorations.
    Really warm and inviting!

    • Ha and I’d be happy to help! Thanks so much, Carolyn 🙂 XOXO

      • Carolyn Price says:

Ummmm … let me guess! You created your beautiful wedding dress, right? And sewed it yourself, as well?
Well, I would certainly accept your assistance, Christy, if I were fortunate enough to live in your area. We would start with my yard first! lol!!
You seem like a lovely person … I think we would laugh more than we actually accomplished!!

        • Ha ha, goodness no! I left that to Dillards. I saw this dress with the dark red and thought it would be perfect for a Christmas wedding! I think you are right…we probably wouldn’t get very far for goofing off! 🙂

  7. Happy almost anniversary ! Christy your home is just stunning and the cozy courtyard is perfection. I love your attention to detail- how warm and welcoming…and thank you for sharing your gorgeous wedding photos…xo

    • You are so sweet, Angie…thank you! It really was just perfect. The weather had been really cold that week and on that Saturday, it got up to about 60 degrees out of no where, so we were blessed with beautiful weather too! Have a great weekend. 🙂

  14. WOW your courtyard is so beautiful and dreamy! Love how you decorated it for Christmas and how cool that you were married there! What beautiful memories!

  15. Absolutely gorgeous, Christy!!! What a grand entrance. All the touches are just so welcoming. Your special night was beautiful. We were married on he 27th.

  16. So, so pretty! What a lovely courtyard you have tucked away from the hubbub of the neighborhood. Your decorations are beautiful as is your house!
I’m sitting here with a broken leg, so we decided not to decorate inside this year. My husband put up outside lights, but it was just going to be too much trouble to do the inside and we’ll be gone much of the holiday period anyway.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
    Sue P.

    • Thanks so much, Sue! Sorry to hear about your leg. As pretty as everything looks when decorated, it is a lot of work. At least you won’t have to take any decorations down either. 🙂

  17. Christy, your courtyard is amazing….everything looks so festive! And what a beautiful place you had to celebrate you wedding, you looked gorgeous!
