Recycled Granite Block Patio

Now that the warm weather is almost here, many of you are starting to think about outdoor cleanup and possibly what new outdoor projects you want to tackle this year.  I have an awesome project to share with you that I completed last Spring. We actually completed an entire landscaping overhaul including our front yard, side yard, and back yard. I am excited to share it all with you, but consider this a sneak peek! This is my new and improved side yard:  Want to see the before? Okay, … [Read more...]

Sweet Spring Table Setting

Today is the first day of Spring, so it's a perfect day to share a Sweet Spring  Table with you.  Actually it's freezing outside and calling for possible snow today,  but we can pretend it's sunny and warm, okay? I found the cutest little unfinished birdcages at Michaels this weekend and although I had no idea what I was going to use them for, I bought some anyway!  Then last night, while I was trying to go to sleep, I got the idea to use them to make napkin rings! Here is how they turned … [Read more...]

Thrift Store Box Gets a Makeover

Hello friends!  I have a cute little makeover to share with you today. I found this box at the thrift store last week for $2: Of course it didn't look like this when I bought it...it looked like this:  It was pretty beat up. But I adopted it, welcomed it into my home, and gave it a new life. I used the tiny bit of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old white that I had left and gave it two coats. Then I taped off a chevron pattern...  And painted over the tape in a mix of old white and … [Read more...]

Side Table Goes Provence

Do you love aqua as much as I do? Yes? You can be my new BFF.  No? That's okay, I love you anyway:) I really love aqua.  If it's the right shade, I want it.  It could be a doggy bowl in just the right shade and I don't own a dog...but I'm really liking the look of that bowl.  Of course it  would not come home with me...but you get my drift. I have really been itching to paint a piece of furniture in my beloved favorite color and I found just the piece. Customer Appreciation … [Read more...]

Big Boy Bedroom on a Budget Reveal

My big boy is really only two and a half, but he will grow to be a big boy in this room. We knew it was time to take down his crib after a recent successful out of town experience in a big boy bed.  Plus, he is really big for a two year old and  needed a bigger bed. We moved him into his big brother, Jack's old room.  This is how the room looked before we switched rooms: And here is the Big Boy Brennan version: I kept the same theme that was in his … [Read more...]

DIY Under-the-Cabinet Docking Station

Hello friends! I've got a great organizational idea to share with you today! Yesterday I was attempting to get the house in some type of order and I came across my kitchen counter where we house all of our charging apparatus.  It was so frustrating to see cords and phones and iPods strewn everywhere! If you know me, an idea is a dangerous thing.  I woke up this morning and right then I knew what was on the agenda for today! An under-the-cabinet docking station:   This is … [Read more...]

I Sawed Off the Awkward Changing Table Hump!

Or I should say, my husband sawed off the awkward changing table hump! These days new parents are using beautiful credenzas and dressers as changing tables. What a smart idea. I used a traditional changing table complete with "awkward hump" that I really loved when my children were babies.  It was only awkward when I no longer wanted to use it as a changing table. I can't complain because my mom purchased this for my ten year old when he was a baby. He used it as a dresser until baby … [Read more...]

How to Fake a Flawless Bedskirt

Do you have anything stashed underneath your bed that you want to hide? No? Maybe just a big dust bowl under there? Seven layers of cat fur? My toddler has a set of bunk beds that we have set up as a single bed. (They used to be his big brother's.)   I keep the second mattress under the bed.  It is really unsightly.  I have always wished I could add a bed skirt to hide it. Because his bed has slats going across to hold the mattress, a bedskirt is not an option. Or is it? YES! I done … [Read more...]

From Bumper Pad to Pillow

I've got something really cute to share with you. See this sweet-as-can-be pillow? I made it out of the bumper pad that was in Brennan's crib! {Cute story}: We transitioned him to a big boy bed a couple of weeks ago (he's two and a half). His crib was still up in his room because really, I think we just didn't want to let go!  Well, the other night I put him down in his big boy bed and said my good nights.  When I went to check on him after he was asleep, he was not in his his bed!!  I … [Read more...]

This Small Mirror Makes a Big Impact

How do you like my new mirror? Bold, right? I like that it makes a BIG impact. If I'd have seen this at Home Goods, this would have gone straight into my cart. That above pic is from my most recent Summer Home Tour. It was so simple to make. It's actually a smaller mirror mounted onto plywood that's framed out. The title of this post should have been, "From Epic Fail to Awesome".  This project started with a plan to use the mirror below that was removed from the boys' bathroom last summer, … [Read more...]
