Hello awesome Friends and welcome! I am sharing a Spring-inspired post today and the expected weather here on the east coast could not be more perfect at 74 degrees and sunny! BUT snow is headed our way this weekend boooo! Old Man Winter giving us one more poke I guess.
I’m joining my Décor Enthusiast Girls today to share baskets and what we can do with them for Spring. We each take turns coming up with fun themes and when this one was announced, I knew I didn’t have to look far to find a basket to use.
I’ve had this $1.98 thrift store find in my stash since the Fall:
I’m not quite sure what I had in mind for it when I bought it.
I spray painted it with Rustoleum flat white spray primer:
And that’s it…no need to follow up with paint, unless you want your basket to have a sheen.
Then I hopped on over to Michaels to see what pretty Spring blooms I could fill my basket with, and here’s what I found:
Faux camellias, right? I don’t have any camellias but I think that’s what these are supposed to be. I just thought they were so pretty and I loved the soft blush pink color. These were $19.99 each but 40% off.
And I found these miniature roses as well for $8.99 each, also 40% off that price:
Adding them to my basket made a super simple, but pretty Spring centerpiece for my dining table:
The metal sign on the front came from Michaels as well:
I taped off the center and sprayed it with Rustoleum Chalkboard Spray Paint to turn it into a chalkboard:
Then I drilled a hole in the top on either side to attach it to my basket with jute.
I added a little color to my hutch as well…
I kept the Camellia bushels in tact as is and just laid them in the basket. Then I cut the miniature rose bunches apart and inserted them here and there. The greenery came from my Winter arrangement that was on my dining room table before.
After Spring I can easily swap out the stems, or use it for something different altogether, like for holding magazines, TP in the bathroom, or whatever toys my youngest wants to pile in there.
I spent about $34 for all the flowers, but the original cost would have been $56! It never ceases to amaze me how expensive faux florals can be.
My friends are sharing their own Spring ideas using baskets today:
Check them out at the links below to get inspired for Spring! (Even if snow is still in the forecast!)

I love your basket, so BEAUTIFUL!! Thanks once again for your great inspiration, I know what I will be doing this weekend. I already have a bunch of old baskets in my stash that I think will be receiving the “Christy” treatment!! 🙂
Christy says
Thank you, Mary! Ha ha I like that…the “Christy” treatment! Have fun with it! 😀
Barb says
Your basket with the roses and camellias is beautiful! I like the white on the basket better than the brown. Great job and a early breath of spring!
Christy says
Thanks, Barb! I prefer the white too….perfect for a basket of Spring blooms! XO
Janice says
Love the basket especially with the little metal sign on the side. Such talent. Can’t wait until next Tuesday.
Christy says
Thanks, Janice! So glad you like it! 🙂
Christy @ Our Southern Home says
So pretty! Flowers look real!
Christy says
Thanks, Christy! Aren’t they so pretty? They only had two bunches of them left so I’m glad that was enough! XOXO
Nancy @ Slightly Coastal says
Love this! I have a basket I painted last year and put faux flowers in for the front door. It is just sitting in the garage because I have something else for the door this year. I think I need to put some faux flowers in it and add it to my coffee station for a little infusion of spring. Thanks for the idea!
Nancy
Christy says
Thank you, Nancy! Yes use it inside this time! 🙂
Josie says
Absolutely love!
Christy says
Thank you, Josie! XO
Nancy @ Artsy Chicks Rule says
Love your basket of flowers! The little chalkboard sign is the perfect touch. xo
Christy says
Thanks, Nancy! Now it will probably stay there till Fall ha ha! XOXO
Patty says
So pretty, and the way you dresses it up is gorgeous.
Christy says
Thank you, Patty! It’s a welcome change on the dining room table! XO
Donna says
The basket is adorable! Seeing your house makes me want to paint everything white. The dining room set I have is Tell City (made in Indiana, company now closed) maple and it is just orange now…blech. Your dining furniture is similar to a set a had years ago and wish I’d kept. I come from a generation that prized the factory finishes on matching case goods. So nice to see ladies use their imaginations (like you!) and turn ordinary into creative and unique.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Donna! The white does make a nice backdrop for seasonal changes like this. 🙂
Debbie in TX says
So simple yet so pretty. Love it. And yes, those faux flowers can get pricey, but they do last a long time! I like them too. The smaller touches in the hutch really pull it together.
Christy says
Thank you, Debbie! Yes, these will last a long time for sure. I will have fun staging some of my furniture pieces with them in the future! XO
Nancy says
I love your basket transformation. Absolutely love it! Great job! xo
Christy says
Thank you so much, Nancy! XO
Marie|The Interior Frugalista says
Seriously girl, your eye for detail! You took that simple basket and transformed it into something so beautiful, especially with that adorable framed chalkboard hanging from it. Those faux flowers look pretty darn real, no wonder the high price tag. Gotta love Michael’s coupons and sales! Love how you echoed the arrangement in your ironstone as well – so pretty.
Christy says
Thank you, Marie! I snatched up the last two bushels like this…good thing because I probably would have bought more if they had them. Yes Michaels is great with their sales! XOXO
Candy says
This is gorgeous! I need to get to Micheals.
Thanks for sharing
Blessings Candy
Christy says
Thanks, Candy! Yes all their Spring florals are 40% off. 🙂
Marisa says
I have the exact same basket! I painted it with grey chalk paint and it is now a catch all on my stairs. I love the sign idea – will be stealing that 🙂 Thanks for always having such great ideas!
Christy says
Aww thank you, Marisa! I bet your basket looks great in grey! Good idea to keep a basket on the stairs as a catch all…I might steal that idea from you ha ha! XO
Julie B. says
Love this basket of posies, Christy. The faux boxwood wreath I recently posted on Decor Enthusiasts page was a steal for the boxwood – at Michael’s. They were $12.99/bunch, on sale for 60% off, and I had a 20% off everything. $4.15 each! I was happy about that! Was able to make the wreath for a fraction of what it would have cost me at Pier 1, etc. 🙂 Love the chalkboard you added, too. Really gave it another dimension. Thanks for the inspiration!
Christy says
Thanks, Julie! You scored on the boxwood…those wreaths are ridiculously priced! I hit the jackpot at a local boutique home décor store that was having a 75% off after Christmas sale a couple of years ago, and her boxwood wreaths were included!! I think I bought like six of them! XOXO
Koula says
Girl you have talent!
Christy says
Thanks so much, Koula! XO
Carole says
Christy, I love what you did with this basket – so pretty. I have one exactly like yours and use it for file folders that I use all the time for those papers we seem to use often to stay organized. Now I am going to try to find another one to use for pretty things. Thanks for the inspiration.
Christy says
Thanks, Carole! What a great idea to use yours for file folders…love that! XO
laura janning says
your arrangement is so pretty and those flowers look so real. SNOW.!!!! as my kids would say “what the what’
Christy says
Thanks, Laura!! And yes snow…isn’t that insane?? XOXO
Annie (Canada) says
Sometimes the simplest makeovers are the prettiest 🙂 Lovely!
Christy says
That is so true! Thank you, Annie! Have a great weekend! XO
Carol (Mimi) says
I like that blush pink color of the faux roses and camellias. Along with the greenery and the basket, the flowers give your dining room just the right touch of springtime freshness. You’re probably digging out from the snow right now . . . Sorry!
Christy says
I’m so glad you like it, Carol! My dining room really says Spring even though it has dipped down into the 20’s here the last few days! Luckily we were spared the snow, thank goodness! XO
