Hey hey lovely friends! Are you up for a cute and super simple crafty Fall project today? It may be reaching the mid 90s outside here today, but like every muggy September, I’m forging onward!
I was looking at my Summer mantel the other day and thinking how I would miss my shell garland I added this Summer:
Of course I could keep it up, but I like to change my mantel out for the Holidays and the shells don’t really say “Fall” at all. So I decided to make a new garland.
Since my mantel isn’t complete yet, I added it to my hutch for now, which already has a few Fall touches:
Cute, right?
It is so easy too! If you want to get all crazy and make your family think you have gone absolutely nutso creating Fall crafts in a heat wave, here’s what you need to make that happen:
- Mini pumpkins from Michaels ($2.99/six pack)
- Letters from Michaels ($99¢ each)
- Jute twine and scissors
- Metallic Gold spray paint from Rustoleum
- Heirloom White spray paint from Rustoleum
- Rustoleum Stone texture paint from Rustoleum (Optional)
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Scrap fabric
I started by removing the stems of the mini pumpkins that I planned to paint:
…and spray painting a few of each gold and ivory (Heirloom White):
Then I gave the ivory ones a hit with the stone texture paint on the tops for a little more dimension:
As you can see, I popped the stems back in too. I left the more solid green ones as is.
The letters were painted the same way as the ivory pumpkins:
Then I cut the jute twine to the length I wanted and added everything to it!
The pumpkins were hot glued like so:
The letters were added using a scrap of the fabric and hot glue (oopsie forgot to paint the backs):
Then I cut the fabric into strips with my rotary cutter and tied them on in between…
So easy! I paint a lot of furniture pieces, but sometimes I just want to sit and craft something.
It’s really cute on my hutch…it might not make it to the mantel.
Love the pops of green with the black and white. (That’s scrapbook paper I added to the back in the Spring.)
This is perfect for our Get Your DIY On party theme this month: Falling for Fall

Ha ha you are so funny! I found those little packs of pumpkins hanging on the side of an end cap and almost missed them. I never thought to make one for my booth…that would be so cute! 🙂
