Hello, sweet Friends! Today is my kiddos’ first day back at school. My youngest is starting first grade, and my oldest is starting high school! Where on earth did the time go?
I have a very quick and simple makeover for y’all today!
I have been very good on my thrift store/yard sale diet this Summer, except for this book case I bought but that trip was not for me. (Still sticking by that.) BUT…can I help it if I spy a cute little caddy at the antique mall where my booth is? No. The answer is no, I cannot.
A little caddy is perfect for so many uses and the old weathered finish on this one looked like it could use a little freshening up…
I know many like this weathered look but…it didn’t look cool in person, just old and dirty.
I already had my Inglenook by Fusion Mineral Paint out to paint my stenciled bar stools I shared last week, and I couldn’t help throwing a quick coat on this too!
SO much more fresh and pretty!
Actually I had already painted it white, but loved this color so much, I wanted to use it on something else. You can see the white peeking through a bit…
I love the nail heads showing. Those are details that got missed in it’s natural state…
This old stool it’s sitting on was a chair that was missing its back and left on the curb, one of the very few items I’ve picked off the curb while my hubby was with me.
I use it to sit on to paint furniture. In the pic below you can see it’s missing a spindle on the side as well, but it worked out as a prop today. š
To make this caddy easier to carry, I added this old drawer pull that I spray painted white:
I filled it with Russian sage from my garden, mostly because it’s one of the few flowering things that have survived this hot Summer.
But this would be great for collecting fresh cut flowers, or garden veggies. Or how about using it to hold magazines, or to hold TP on the back of the toilet? So many ideas!
Told y’all it was a simple update.
I’ll be back on Thursday with my Decor Enthusiast crew. We are sharing ways to use faux pumpkins and I am going to do something with this one:
Yep haven’t started yet…spent the weekend goofing around with the kids since it was their last weekend before school.
Hoping to get a lot accomplished today! š
UPDATE: I got it done in time, and you can see it HERE.
XO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

Fresh and lovely update. Love that handle and the color. It’s the details that make all the difference!
Christy says
Thanks, Marcie!! I love this color too! XO
Becky says
Good job, I like the addition of the handle, but mostly I’m envying you your Russian sage! : ) I have way too much shade for it to grow. Tried, failed (poor plant, at least it didn’t suffer long), forced to admire everyone else’s. Still a pretty good life, I admit. : )
Christy says
Thanks, Becky! That Russian sage is actually the only surviving floral left in my yard this Summer…thank goodness it loves the heat and lots of sun! XOXO
Sherry Pelle says
Nice transformation on the caddy! Who can resist blue, nobody! Have a great day Christy!
Christy says
Thanks, Sherry! Yes…love the blue too! XO

I hope your kids have great school years. I wish that our area of VA followed your schedule and started after Labor Day. We’ve already had 15 days of school here and we weren’t the earliest in our area to start.
This caddy looks so pretty in blue with the white paint peeking out from under it. I also don’t have much blooming in my yard right now but it won’t be long before my asters and goldenrod come out.
Christy says
Thanks, Paula…I hope they do too! I think I would rather they go back a bit earlier but get out earlier. Their last week of school is usually the third week of June…which seems so late. All of my flowering plants are fried as well as our grass. We just decided not to waste the water on it since we were fighting such immense heat. Reseeding the grass soon! š

Love that color and that caddy is so cute now, I don’t think I could pass it by.

Thanks so much, Patty! š

Wow Christy, this caddy definitely looked simple before you got your hands on it. It’s not so simple anymore – it’s downright gorgeous. The hardware on the top is perfect! Pinning to share š

I spied this little thing right away in a booth I pass by on the way to mine. Had to buy it! Thanks, Marie! XOXO

It is great idea for caddy transformation. It’s looks great. I also like to decorate my house by transform some old furniture then combine with some green plants.
