Hello dear friends and welcome to Trash-to-Treasure Tuesday!! Ya’ll know I love this day because not only do I have a fun trashy makeover for you, I get to see some as well, because my friends are also sharing trashy makeovers of their own! Look for links to their projects at the bottom!
I had originally planned to share this mirror I shared on Thursday as my Trash-to Treasure piece:
It was perfect since I had almost let my Hubby trash it. What was I thinking?? I ended up painting it to match the table, so I needed to find something else for today.
This table is the second trashiest thing I have in my Shop my own Garage Haul:
I originally found it at an estate sale for $20:
I Ioved this piece when I redid it. I had it near the entryway in our old house:
Unfortunately, I didn’t have a spot in the new house for it, so I took it to my booth. It sat there for several months with no takers.
I brought it home with plans to give it a simple redo, and so I removed the fabric to find that the front panel where I removed the fabric was now super fuzzy! It wasn’t going to be a quick makeover after all and there it sat. Forever it sat. So, I’m calling it trashy because it had some trashy issues to deal with to get it right again!
It ended up not being too bad of a fix though! I generously applied rubbing alcohol with a washcloth to each area and was able to rub it away:
I made it sound like it was really easy, but it actually took me about an hour of applying alcohol, rubbing it, applying more alcohol, etc to get it off of all three panels.
But it all came off in the end:
I decided I wanted something more cheery to welcome Summer, and that is exactly what I got!
She may not be quite as sophisticated as she once was, but she is way more fun!
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
To get this color, I mixed one part The Gulf to two parts Cotton. It was a bit more subtle when wet:
It did end up drying a brighter shade of blue, but it was just the punch of color I was in the mood for! I gave just one coat and then sanded generously all over. Then I sealed with Dixie Belle’s Clear Coat in satin using the blue sponge.
And to finish it off, I added a little embellishment to the front:
I attached it to the center panel with E6000 glue and let is sit overnight, using clamps to hold it in place.
This is a piece I made using a Redesign with Prima Decor Mould and Amazing Casting Resin. (One box will do many pieces.)
You may remember me using this same product to make trim pieces for that case in the background:
I used this Decor mould from Prima Marketing to make this one. I made it a couple of months ago for another piece but ended up not using it. It dries hard pretty quickly, so to soften it a bit so I could make it fit the curve of this table, I stuck it in the microwave for 15 seconds.
Isn’t it so pretty?
And that’s my entry table redo, take two! Which version do you prefer?
Don’t forget to check out what treasures became of these pieces too!

Before I go, here’s how I spent part of my Mother’s Day:
I shared this photo on my FB page on Sunday. I got a message late Saturday from a very sweet woman who reads my blog. She is in the process of moving and had her garage filled with several sentimental pieces that she had been saving, but had to let go. She was afraid that she would have no choice but to leave them on the curb for trash pick up, but then she decided to reach out to me, and I am so thrilled that she did! There are several pieces here and most of them are in need of lot of work, but I am up for the challenge! Thank you so much, Mary, for thinking of me! I hope I do them proud!
And I hope all the Moms, Moms-to-be, and those that play Mom out there enjoyed their special day!
I’ll have a round of smalls to share with you on Thursday, including this ceramic piece I found when I went thrifting with Nancy just before the shut-down:
UPDATE: See this ceramic box and five more smalls HERE now!
Hope to see ya then!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!

Christina says
Oh Christy, this is SOOO pretty! It would look perfect in my entry! 🙂 Love the color… so bright and cheerful.
WOW!! Great haul! Now, where to store it! 🙂
xo
Christy says
Thank you, Christina! It screams Summer ha ha! And yes…luckily, my pile has dwindled quite a bit with the thrift stores being closed! XOXO
Penny says
That is so cute, I love the color. In the future if you have a sticky surface there is a product called Krud Kutter, it works great for removing ucky, stickyness and is also great as a furniture cleaner prior to painting. I dilute it unless I’ve got a sticky mess then I go full force. Love your blog you inspire me.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Penny! And I sure appreciate that tip!! XOXO
Sharon Coffman says
That’s gorgeous! What a lovely, cheerful pop of color and the molding really dresses it out. Fabulous job!
Christy says
Thank you, Sharon! Those moldings are fun to play with! XOXO

Love today’s trash to treasure especially when you added the resin piece. I saw a birdhouse you did in red, white and blue and you put it on a pole in your yard. I looked for that post again but couldn’t find it. Can you help me find it??
Christy says
Thank you, Shelly! Yep…here ya go! https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/patriotic-birdhouse/ That was a fun one! XOXO
Deanna says
Of course I love the after version of the entry way table! The extra resin piece you added is just the right touch. I love that your readers pass along their treasures to you to re imagine. Have a great week!

Thank you, Deanna! I am very blessed to have such kind and giving readers for sure! XOXO

Cecilia from Georgia says
I hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day as well! 💐 Of course I love the aqua! The embellishment just made it perfect. I know the lady who gave you the furniture must feel happy to have someone get her things that appreciates having them. Have a great week and continue to be safe!
Christy says
Thank you, Cecilia! My Mother’s day was lovely and of course, I got a load of new goodies to play with, so that was a bonus! The lady who gave me the furniture shared a few stories of different pieces with me. I know it was not an easy decision for her to let them go, but I do think she was glad to know they will be loved again! XOXO
Toni says
I love the new re-do on the table. My favorite color. I would totally buy it now. Much prettier than before!

Jen @ Girl in the Garage says
Christy, your new haul looks fabulous – what a thoughtful reader!! And I really like the table in blue. Of course I always loved that fabric, but it stinks that no one scooped it up quick enough. Have a beautiful day, friend!
Christy says
Thanks, Jen!! I was so delighted when I got that message about the furniture! I always loved that fabric too, but frenchy things are making their way out, I think. Boo hoo! Hope you had a great day! XOXO
Mary King says
Thank you for coming by Sunday and for coming to the rescue of these old family pieces. I enjoyed meeting you and look forward to seeing their new looks. So glad I am a fan of yours and was able to find your FB page and blog posts all those years ago!
Christy says
You are so welcome, Mary!! I appreciate your thinking of me so much! I know it was not an easy decision to let those pieces go, and I am just grateful for the chance to make them lovely again. I think you said there was a piece to the desk that I am painting for you? We left without it, so I’ll need to get that from you at some point. I am so thrilled to have you following along with me for all these years! Take care! XOXO
Robin says
It certainly is a bright pop of color! I personally prefer the lighter shade it was when it was wet, though.
Christy says
Yes it is! I prefer the lighter too, but it definitely has personality now! XOXO
Becky Fischer says
I love what you did to the table. I love how you laid out the mold. The mold was the topping on the cake. Thank you for sharing.
Christy says
Thank you, Becky!! I agree, that little piece really added something! XOXO

Your table is absolutely charming. I love the color and the addition of the motif. You are so clever and come up with amazing results! Love your work! Thanks for sharing.
Christy says
Thank you, Sue! You are the sweetest! XOXO
Marcie Lovett says
Now that was a surprise! I thought it looked pretty great when you took the fuzz off 😁 (I use Goo Gone of Goof Off, works like magic). But I understand the need for some color these days. I would have thought the little medallion was wood. It really looks great there. So lovely of Mary to offer you her furniture, now you don’t have to worry about filling the booth when it opens back up.
Christy says
Thanks, Marcie!! I do have Goo Gone, but I was unsure of painting over it? I’ll have to test that out. It was fun to play with color for a change! And yes, those moulds are amazing! Mary was so kind to offer me her pieces for sure…I can’t wait to get started on them. I don’t have a single dresser in my booth at the moment! Have a great day! XOXO
Vicki says
Cute project! I will say the distressed white is more my style (although the blue is gorgeous!), but I do love it more with the front decorative molding piece you made. Didn’t know you could make those! I was thinking of buying something similar in wood and applying it the the faux drawer front that is just below my cooktop in our new house (above two actual drawers) to dress it up since it doesn’t have a handle. Thinking I would paint it first with leftover cabinet paint, lightly distress and then attach. I can’t clamp it the way you did. How would you recommend attaching it? Was thinking a strong glue like e6000 and maybe some painters tape to hold it in place, or perhaps tiny finishing nails I could set and use nailhole filler. Thanks for your help! I really enjoy yours and Nancy’s projects! Even when they aren’t making style, I love the transformation and learning new techniques❤️.
Christy says
Thank you, Vicki! Those moulds are amazing! I think it’s a great idea to nail yours in place to hold it. You can also use would glue if you use a wood piece. E6000 works for just about anything, but it takes longer to dry. You may also be able to hold it in place with painter’s tape while it dries. I love that idea…hmmm I too have a blank “drawer” in front of our stovetop. I might have to steal that! XOXO
ROSE LEFEBVRE says
Oh How I want it!!! Love the color~~~
Christy says
Ha ha thank you, Rose!! XOXO

I love the take two of your little table! The color is gorgeous!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Loretta! XOXO

Oh I’m glad I got to see this re-do. When I clicked on it earlier it wouldn’t take me to the link. I just love it :D. That colour is my new fave! And the embellishment looks like it’s been there forever!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Petra! I accidentally scheduled this post for Wednesday lol. Luckily, I caught it at around 8am our time! And yes, I love those decor moulds…they are so cool! XOXO
Katie says
Great color! So bright & cheery. And I love the mould you did on the front. I’ve never made a mould but I’m going to have to look into it 🙂
Christy says
Thank you, Katie! The moulds are so fun to play with…so many possibilities! XOXO
