Hello, amazing friends! I recently sold a piece of furniture that was part of a group of makeovers I called my Operation Redo Haul. Now, I rarely redo pieces that I take to my booth. I figure the right buyer has to come along eventually, right? But this was a group of pieces that had been sitting way too long. So, in the winter of 2022, I decided to bring this group of items home and give them a redo.
After finally selling that piece recently, I thought it would be fun to look back at them as a group!
Here are all the pieces from this haul in their original state:
I’ll share the before, the first makeover, and then the second makeover of each.
Redo #1: The First Makeover (actually the second!)
First up is this hexagon pedestal table that my mom passed along to me a several years ago:
She painted it around 2013 for a craft market we did together. It was one of just a couple of her pieces that didn’t sell at the market. I put it in my booth for a while as is, but when it didn’t sell, I brought it home to redo, and then it lived our garage for a couple of years collecting dust.
In the spring of 2021, I finally decided to sand it down and give it a proper redo:
The top got a simple magnolia design:
And I gave the edges stripes in one of the Moonshine Metallic colors, Wedding Belle, which I thought complimented the transfer nicely:
However, it sat for forever in my booth! I really loved this makeover, but I knew it wouldn’t take much to give it another look. Maybe the third time would be the charm!
You can visit the original makeover HERE.
Redo #1: The Second Makeover
For the Second makeover, I decided to go a bit more neutral using Dixie Belle’s Driftwood this time:
I also added their Whitewash Glaze for a softer look:
I love the effect of the glaze and it is so easy to do!
While this makeover was much more simple, it sold almost right away!
Redo #2: The First Makeover
The second piece that I gave a redo to is this headboard that I picked up for only $3 many years ago at the thrift store:
I originally bought three of them. The first two I redid HERE and HERE sold pretty quickly, but this one had been sitting for over a year with no takers.
Here is how I redid this one originally:
The shape is perfect for a sign, so I went that direction with this one also.
But, it has just been taking up space in my booth. We live in a costal town, so I figured the saying would catch someone’s heart, but maybe people are taking it too literally and think they have to live right next to the ocean? Who knows!
See more of the original makeover HERE.
Redo#2: The Second Makeover
For makeover number two, I also went a bit more neutral, skipping the quotes and going for a faux clock instead:
I liked this version much more!
This piece has not sold, but it lives on top of my paint display in my booth:
It does have a tag on it, but it’s obviously hard to shop up there, and I like it up there anyway!
Redo #3: The First Makeover
Next up is a small sign that I shared along with three other cabinet doors a couple of years ago.
They started out like this:
My dad had them left over from when he used to build cabinets like this one.
The other three had sold but this one was still hanging on:
I painted this in one of my favorite colors, Mint Julep.
I gave it a coastal feel with the starfish, but I’m not sure most people who enjoy a coastal style also like green.
See this and what I did with the other three doors HERE.
Redo #3: The Second Makeover
For the second makeover, I used a new Silk color at the time, Morning Sunrise:
Cute and fun!
And I had these pretty pieces from the Translucent Garden transfer (on sale now!) that I had left over from this hutch makeover, which were perfect with this pretty color!
Adding hooks gave it more function also…
This one sold almost right away too!
Redo #4: The First Makeover
The fourth piece I brought home to redo started out as this $20 thrift store find:
I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of bamboo, but I just liked this little piece for some reason.
I gave it life with this beautiful green color, Kudzu:
I also added this sweet bee transfer to the front (the bee is in top):
My customers don’t traditionally love green, so that’s why I don’t use it often, although I really do love it!
See the original post on this makeover HERE.
Redo#4: The Second Makeover
Makeover number two was still calling out for color but maybe something that would work more cohesively with my booth?
How about Vintage Duck Egg Blue?
And yep, I decided to add some texture with Sea Spray texture additive:
Good bye, green! I’ll miss you!
After sanding the final paint coat, it left this wonderful weathered finish with the white from the Sea Spray coming through from underneath:
This is the piece that finally just this past week! I had been using it to display my Scrubby Soap, but it still had a tag on it. I’m so glad it finally found its forever home!
Redo #5: The First Makeover
Piece number five was about to get its third makeover!
This piece used to live in my Mom’s home, but she traded me this table for a smaller one that I had redone because it fit in her space better.
It pretty much looked like this when I got it, still in great shape:
I stuck it in my booth as is and it sat for f-o-r-e-v-e-r. So much for simple neutrals being quick sellers!
Then, I had a suggestion to redo it to match a dresser I had in my booth at the time, and I loved that idea!
So, I did:
I love drum tables! They are so classic and versatile.
You can use them as end tables, night tables, entry tables, or you can even pair with a chair or two to create a small bistro set!
I gave it fresh paint in Fluff, and then I added the same transfer I used on the dresser to just the drawer to tie it together:
This gorgeous transfer is the Rose Celebration transfer, and here it is paired with the dresser in my booth:
So perfect as a set, right? The dresser sold, but they did not take the drum table, unfortunately.
I really loved this simple makeover, but the coral colors don’t match everyone’s decor. I gave it a year with no takers and decided it needed a new look.
You can visit the original makeover HERE.
Redo#5: The Second Makeover
I traded the peach for blue this time…
This is Blueberry and it is a gorgeous blue that has a Laura Ashley vibe to it.
I actually redid this one for our bedroom. I had a similar drum table as my bedside table that was much smaller, and I liked that this one was larger.
See more of our bedroom set makeover HERE.
And here’s a peek at the inside:
Redo #6: The First Makeover
This next piece is another one that I really loved.
It was originally a Facebook find that I bought from a local group for $15:
But then it sat for what seemed like forever.
Finally, I stuck it in one of my hauls and got it done!
I love that combination!
I used the Lace Transfer (no longer available) on the top:
I thought people may have had a harder time deciding what to do with this one since it is a table but more bench height than table height, but it turns out it just had a wobbly part that needed fixing.
I decided to give it a makeover anyway!
See more of the original makeover HERE.
Redo #6: The Second Makeover
For the second makeover, I gave it fresh paint in Fluff also:
Then, I added the Vintage Post transfer (on sale now!) to the top…
I love this transfer!
It has four sheets of designs that meet to form one large design, but it can also be cut apart to get several smaller transfers…
And here is this crew grouped together before:
And after!
Sometimes, you just have to redo a redo!
I’ll be back to my haul with this box on Tuesday:
Y’all know how I love to transform boxes!
UPDATE: See how pretty this one turned out HERE now!
Have a wonderful weekend!!

I remember all of them. It always amazes me how beautiful the first re-do was, but they didn’t sell! You could be sure that everything would sell if I lived any where close to you as I would certainly buy it all, because it is all beautiful!
Christy says
Aww thank you, Mary! It’s a bummer when things don’t sell for sure, but it’s also fun to reimagine them in a new way! I sure to wish you were closer lol! XOXO
Janette Deans says
Amazing re-do’s, really love them now and feel sure they will be snapped up. x
Christy says
Thank you so much, Janette! XOXO
Tracey A says
Good morning! I really enjoy your creativity and posts. Thank you for all of the great ideas.
Christy says
Thank you, Tracey! I appreciate that so much! XOXO

Hi Christy –This was an interesting post.
I too have a booth and also do 5 shows a year. I do lots of seasonal items. What I noticed with your leftover pieces and also mine is that I am not sure people “love” the saying “Blessed”. While I like it, they seem to not choose the saying over my other sayings. Just a thought–Zoya
Christy says
That is good to know! I surely won’t use it again. I haven’t done shows in a long while, but I do miss interacting with customers and seeing what they buy in person! XOXO
Bev W says
As always, beautiful and inspiring! Wish I had my granny’s drum table now! Even as a child I loved that thing
Christy says
Thank you, Bev! I love drum tables…they are so versatile! XOXO
Nana Diana says
It’s so funny what catches the eye and you are sure someone will LOVE and then it just sits with no takers. Love the redo of the redo’s. lol. Glad that you were able to sell (or use) them after you transformed them AGAIN. I immediately thought that clock might be great as a REAL clock..with a clock kit added to it.
Have a wonderful rest of the week. xo Diana
Christy says
Thank you, Diana! You just never know what will sell. Luckily, the second time was a charm, and yes, I’ve often thought of making that clock functional! XOXO
Debora Garrett says
I also thought the clock should be a real working clock. I also thought instead of the stripes a floral “strip” would be amazing
Christy says
Great idea! XO
Sue says
I love the redo’s, it is a great thing that you know your shoppers so well!
Christy says
Thank you, Sue! Well, at least I knew them better the second time ha ha! XOXO
Debra Hubbs says
Well I guess it can pay off to redo a redo lol. Love all of them, especially that little blue/salt wash table.
Christy says
Thank you, Debra! I don’t normally give in, but I just happened to have several pieces at that time that had been sitting too long, so it was fun to reimagine them all, and luckily, it paid off! XOXO
Marcie Lovett says
I loved that little rattan/bamboo table, Christy! I think that style is very coastal, but maybe the green is more country cottage? There must be some rule that everyone near the beach must decorate in coastal style😂 Regardless, I’m glad it sold. I’m not surprised the purple hook piece sold quickly – beautiful colors (but not at all coastal 😉) and very functional. I bet the large clock-ish one would sell, too, if it hung on the wall where it would be more visible. Fun to see what happens with stragglers, much like the virtual trips to your booth. Even better, you even got a new table out of it all!
Christy says
Thank you, Marcie! I loved that little bamboo table in the green also, but it must have been the style because even after painting it more beachy, it still sat for forever. And ha ha yes, the purple which was not beachy at all sold right away…you just never know! It was fun seeing what else each of these pieces could become. XOXO

I have one from Bombay furniture company I want to redo but it’s such nice wood and my husband will kill me. haaaa
Christy says
Aww, it stinks when the husbands care lol. Mine gave up a long time ago ha ha! XOXO
Robin says
OMG, too funny!!!! My hubby hasn’t given up either….
Anita says
Yes, it is a bit annoying when husbands interfere with creativity in this way! LOL! I had a Bombay Company bedside table we used for years (the classic dark cherry colour). My husband loved it, but kind of forgot about it when it no longer worked in our room; I put it in the basement and it really had no purpose. When I figured out a new purpose for the table (it’s now a little toiletry table in the bathroom), I painted it white, added Paris Grey stripes to the drawer, and switched out the hardware. In the end, he loved it! I guess the old adage is so true — sometimes “It’s better to beg forgiveness later than ask permission first.” Luckily, I didn’t even need to beg! If I had not re-done it for a new purpose, it would still be sitting unused in the basement!
Robin says
I thrifted a black tea cart with the intention of reimagining it. Hubby gave me a definitive NO! While I’m not loving it now, when we move I may give it transformation anyway & deal with the consequences later, LOLOLOL.
Rose Lefebvre says
I love the re-do’s! Well done!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Rose! It was a great way to get “new” items for my booth too lol! XOXO
Michele M. says
WELL DONE, Christy! I loved your explanations too. The original make-overs were excellent – but you are in the biz to sell…so it’s good things are moving again. Really love the changes. That purple hook cab front was stunning and I was going to ask if I could buy it and have you ship it. But nope, someone snatched it up right away. All of the pieces are GREAT!!
Christy says
Thanks so much, Michele! I have let many things sit way too long, but they were eventually bought. This time, I had several that were sitting. It was a great way to get new material to work with at the time without shopping too ha ha! Yeah, the purple hanger thing sold almost right away! Enjoy the rest of your weekend! XOXO
