Awesome friends welcome back! I only have two more sets of pieces to make over in my Fall Haul, and today I am tackling one of them! Plus, I’m sharing a tip that will give you a fantastic distressed finish when using chalk paint!
These mirrors that have been living with us since our last house are today’s project:
I found these mirrors at the Goodwill by our old house that has since closed its doors. They were famous for pricing their inventory super cheap. I found these mirrors for only $4.25 each!! I’m sure they came off of a dresser from 1977, but I loved the shape of them and immediately had an idea of what I wanted to do with them. Fast forward about four years and I finally got them done!
Welcome to our master bedroom!
I always imagined that these would be perfect above our bedside tables! It’s hard to tell in that photo, but I distressed these more than I usually do.
Here’s a tip that will give you a great distressed finish every time when using chalk paint: Only use one coat of paint.
That’s it! Not too profound I know, but by only using one coat of paint versus the two to three I normally give my pieces for solid coverage, it makes it easier and faster to reveal more of the wood underneath, therefore creating a more distressed finish with very little effort.
I could have kept going but stopped when I got to this point. I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
I painted these with one coat of Dixie Belle Fluff. Fluff has better coverage than your average white paint:
Then I used 220 grit sandpaper wrapped around an old foam sanding block to distress all over:
I removed the mirrors so I could also paint the groove on the back where the mirrors sit:
That way the mirror will reflect white instead of the original wood all the way around the edge.
I sealed with clear wax. Waxing can be a lot of work, and I don’t use wax nearly as much as I used to since I discovered Satin Clear Coat, but I don’t mind it for these smaller projects. Dixie Belle’s version doesn’t have that stinky smell that some others do either.
This is my side of the bed:
And my hubby’s:
I really don’t care for our bedroom set at all but it belonged to my husband, and he had just purchased it a month after we started dating. I didn’t have the heart to tell him how much I didn’t like it. He gave me the go-ahead to paint it years ago, but I don’t know if paint can help a dresser that’s embellished with grapes.
Really?
I suggested looking for a new set recently and he is fine with that under one condition…it has to be NEW ha ha! He knows me well, but that’s no fun!
I had yet to do anything in this space other than paint the walls before we moved in and hang some pretty sheer curtain panels. (This color is the same as the rest of our house: Campfire Ash by Behr.)
These mirrors are the first things I’ve hung on the walls in here.
It’s a start. I still have this shelf I shared a couple of months ago and I’m considering hanging it above the bed.
My bedside table is quite a bit lower than his, but I hung the mirrors at the same height.
I found these mini boxwood wreaths HERE. I love a little bit of green in every space!
He only bought one night table so when I spied this one at an estate sale for $60, I thought it was perfect. It has such lovely feminine details!
I was thinking about replacing it with the Vintage Duck Egg Blue table I shared last week since it is a much better height, but it just didn’t look right with all the wood tones in here, unfortunately.
And how about an update on Miss Lyla?
She has grown a lot! She has tripled her body weight since we got her and her left eye that was crusted shut when we rescued her is about 95% back to normal. She is doing great and we just love her to pieces!
I hope you enjoyed the change of scenery today! Our bedroom may not be my favorite room in our house, but it was fun to play around in there!
All that’s left from this haul are a set of chairs! Woohoo!
Next Thursday is Furniture Fixer Uppers and I will be saving these chairs to share then. I’m going thrifting today and I’ll share all the goodies I find on my hunt on Tuesday!
UPDATE: Ok y’all…I found some pretty things on my thrifting excursion and I shared it all HERE!
Have a great weekend! 🙂
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!
Dawn Shelley says
Christy…..Yes by all means you could paint that grape infested bed frame! You could even get 2 matching night stands anywhere with your thrifting stops. I love the detailing in all 3….the bed, his n your nightstand but they are pretty enough to stand alone anywhere! Could his night stand sit at the end of your bed? Do you have space? I can just see how you might Dr up the details and arrange perhaps a tray on top.
Besides if you do Dr up your bedframe I might get nerve to do mine lol! I will be watching …… by the way the mirrors are fantabulous! Keep hauling!
Dawn
Christy says
Ha ha…grape-infested…I love it!! I haven’t pulled the trigger on buying a new set because deep down there is a part of me that thinks I can still rescue this lol. Great ideas…maybe the hubby won’t mind second-hand nightstands? Thanks, Dawn! XOXO
Deborah says
I think painting it would be great. It K IS pretty solid and no repairs will be necessary. A perfect new project! 😀. You are so talented, I’m sure you can make it work!
Christy says
Thank you, Deborah! I don’t really have anything to lose! XO
Mary Kaiser says
Wow that is so cool that you found 2 matching mirrors. I love the balance it creates on that wall. I also love the wreaths hanging on the mirrors. I think you should look for 2 matching night stands now at the thrift store and do the magic that you do on them and then get rid of one piece of that furniture at a time. I think the bed is pretty, and would be better with different night stands. I am looking forward to seeing what you do as I love your post!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Mary! I love the suggestion to look for two matching nightstands! I think you’re right…it will bring balance! Ya’ll are making me reconsider ditching the bed ha ha! XOXO
Cokkeen says
You do such a wonderful job! I love everything I’ve seen so far … Even before you’ve done anything. Good eye!
Regarding your table situation … I read a decorator tip that said to match lamp heights even if the two side tables are slightly different heights. Try putting a stack of books or a box under your lamp to match height of your hubby ‘s lamp. I bet you’ll find it more pleasing to the eye. It’s a beautiful table. Would be a shame to trade it out.
Christy says
Thank you, Colleen! That is a fantastic idea…I will try that! XOXO
Patti says
I chalk painted our sleigh bed in white. And I just love it! I bet yours would be gorgeous that way. 😊
Christy says
Oh I bet! I should just go for it and I just might!! Thanks for the push, Patti! XOXO
Sheila DelCharco says
The mirrors look great! What if you just looked for two nightstands and painted those to match and kept your headboard? Personally I like the look of wood with white. Well done on going through your haul! Miss Lyla is so pretty and she matches your house so nicely!
Christy says
Thanks, Sheila! Ya’ll have such great ideas…I think I am going to take your suggestion and shop for new night tables! Miss Lyla is a spoiled kitty ha ha! XOXO
Abbe says
I just love what you’ve done with the place.
I appreciate that you painted the inside/back of the mirrors for reflective reasons. That’s dedication to ones project. 🙂
After I finish painting the interior of my house and the tenants move in, it will be on to my husband’s house which is a huge project!
First, some interior painting and then on to my furniture rehab painting that had been patiently waiting for a garage to make the change. 🙂 😉
Thank you for the tips, they will definitely come in handy.
Keep up the great work. Have paint brush in hand, will paint 😀
Christy says
Thank you so much, Abbe! Sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you but the fun, rewarding kind! Yes…paint will fix all the things!! XOXO
Christina in SW FL says
Oh Christy, I adore the mirrors in your bedroom! What a great idea to hang them behind the lamps! They look great!
I am with you on that bedroom set… grapes? Can’t even sawsall those off lol! 🙂 I know you two will find the perfect bedroom set. 🙂 I bed it won’t be dark wood either. 🙂
Thanks for all the fun, inspiration and tips going through your haul renovations!
Wow, Lyla looks fabulous. What a sweet face. Clearly she knows she is love and in her furever home!!
Christy says
Thank you, Christina! Yeah the grapes just aren’t doing it for me and yes, I looked at all the ways I could whack them off but nope. Some suggested swapping out the nightstands for two that match and I may try that…bringing more balance may distract from the fruit lol! Lyla is SO loved…can’t imagine life without her in it now! XOXO
Janice Holt says
Mirrors look great and I love the round night stand. Bet you could work your magic on the bedroom furniture not that it looks bad at all.
Christy says
Thank you, Janice! I do love that round nightstand too, and you are right, paint would make such a difference…I should just go for it!! XOXO
Prudence Olsen says
Hi Christy.
Love all you furniture makeovers. I look forward to seeing your emails. You have such a great eye for transforming old furniture to new and exciting pieces. I have a bedroom chair that has a high back with cane work under the arm rests. I am thinking of painting it with chalk paint. I have never tried painting furniture before. Should I sand it a little before painting since it has a shiny finish? Have a wonderful day.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Prudence! That sounds like a beautiful chair! There is no need to sand when using chalk paint. I know that is hard to fathom, but that is the beauty of it! Just a good wipe down with Lysol-type wipes is all I would do to prep. You can see my furniture painting tutorial using chalk paint here: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/how-to-paint-furniture-using-chalk-paint/ Hope this helps and good luck! XOXO
Toby Peplow says
Beautiful!! I SO love getting your updates in my email and seeing what you do! If I didn’t HAVE to work a traditional job…I would be doing what you are doing in a heart beat! Bravo! Keep the updates and ideas coming!
Christy says
Thank you, Toby! I appreciate that SO much!! XOXO
Mary Smart says
I love these mirrors! I have been wanting to do the same thing in my bedroom. I know how hard it is to let go of furniture that is still in good shape but no longer goes with your decorating theme. We had a beautiful dark hand carved bedroom suite with a canopy bed that I loved twenty years ago, but then we built our new house 2 years ago that was a farmhouse style. I thought about painting the furniture, but that would have been a massive job with all of the heavily carved pieces we had and my husband said, “Let it go” and go buy new furniture and I am so glad I did! I donated all of that old furniture to a local charity that I love and bought the new bedroom furniture and I have not even thought about the old stuff until writing this post. Just go do it!
Christy says
Oh you are really making me want to just scrap this set and start over lol! XOXO
Denise Cox says
I LOVE the mirrors! So pretty and look even better with the wreaths. And… I DO like your hubby’s bedroom set ( sorry ol’ gal). I’ve always had a thing for grape leaf designs. I REALLY am in love with his nightstand!!! WOW!!! So, as I’m a relative newcomer, this is a new home to you?
Christy says
Thank you, Denise! I’ll admit I like this set better than I first did, but just not my style I guess ha ha! Yep, we moved into this home in August of 2017! XOXO
sharon austin says
Now my first thought upon seeing the pics, was how cool it was that your side looked feminine and his side looked manly! I can see why you feel that way about the grapes, but still, it’s kinda’ cool how your night stands reflect each of you and yet you pulled them together with matching lamps and flowers.
Christy says
Thank you, Sharon! I do like that too…mine is girly and his is manly. Trying to make it work lol! XOXO
Kimberly Wollmer says
Hi Christy! I have learned so much from you and also look forward to getting your emails. I wish I had your creativity and eye. I think your bedroom is beautiful. I was going to suggest whacking off the grapes, but I guess you already looked into that (haha). I just chalk painted our coffee table and 2 end tables, and they turned out beautiful! Was wondering though, will the wax finish I applied cure fairly well and protect the finish? I’m thinking shoe scuffs and vacuum cleaner hitting the legs, etc.?
Christy says
Thank you so much, Kimberly! I bet your tables look fantastic! The wax takes about three to four weeks to fully cure and then they should be good. Just be careful with them until then. If they do get marked up, you can buff any marks out with some pledge and a soft cloth. XO
Kimberly says
I love those mirrors. I also love that Lyla matches your decor 🙂 What a pretty girl!
Christy says
Thank you, Kimberly! And isn’t that funny that she matches my house? I didn’t even realize that when we picked her! XOXO
Larissa ~ Prodigal Pieces says
Just beautiful in every way, Christy.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Larissa! XOXO
Linda C Johnston says
Hi Christy! Well, me thinks you might be a tad hard of the “grape infestation”! Because you have done such a splendid job on every detail in the room, I say stop picking on those poor little tiny, weeny grapes! lol No kidding. The room is beautiful. I love the mismatched night tables. I love the mix of painted elements with natural wood. Though the wood is darker, it is a beautiful contrast to all the very light elements in the space. The wall color is perfect. It accentuates all the elements. A painted bench at the foot of the bed if there is room would look great, in my opinion. It would also help break up the expanse of dark wood on the foot board. Just a few thoughts and suggestions………. Hope I didn’t take up too much time here! I really love everything you do. I eagerly await your posts each week! (Those grapes are only prevalent to YOU because you don’t like them, ha ha ha!)
Christy says
Thank you so much, Linda! I am probably just tired of looking at this set, but I honestly don’t mind the mix of wood tones now that I’ve added some white. I appreciate your suggestions! XOXO
Ruth says
I love the juxtaposition of the beautiful wood with the white mirror. I really believe you would regret one day painting that beautiful wood. I love antiques and I love what you do with all your repurposing. I am 73 and I have been doing this kind of thing since before my husband and I married more than 50 years ago. We have many family antiques mixed with painted items. My husband taught me the appreciation of really good wood and I am glad he did. Many young people today buy the cheap furniture that will never increase in value but will fall apart. This set your husband bought is beautiful. I am having to sell my house due to health and will have to get rid of some things. I am hating it. My house is 6121 St Highway Headland AL on zillow. If you get a chance look at the pictures and you will see some of my painted pieces. Keep up your beautiful work. i love it!
Christy says
Ruth! Your home is stunning!! And huge! Thank you so much for sharing it with me…I do love the mix of painted pieces and wood that you have. It is so very sophisticated! Thank you! XOXO
Tara C says
I love all your transformations! I have a couple mirrors I would like to paint but have been afraid to attempt to remove the mirror from the frame. How do you remove the frame without breaking the mirror, and how do you re-attach the mirror?
Christy says
Thank you so much, Tara! These mirrors had a cardboard backing that was stapled into the frame. I used a very small flathead screwdriver to pry the staples up a bit and then used an upholstery staple remover to get them out. Different mirrors are held in different ways, but usually once you get the backing off you can just lift the mirror out. Then when I’m done, I just put it back together the way it was, using my staplegun to reattach the backing. Hope this helps! XOXO
Cate says
Hi Christy: I love the mirrors! Totally agree with the suggestion of making the lamps the same height so there is continuity in the room. However, I LOVE your bed set. I thought that you could paint the grapes, and also you could do a transfer rather than solid painting. on the dresser. Another woman even put a transfer on the sleigh bed she had an matched it up on their dresser. Totally lovely.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cate! I like the idea of making the lamps the same height as well. I have considered painting this set and I still might. Love the transfer idea! XOXO
Anna says
Are the grapes sandable at all? If you got the high points off and used wood filler and then add an appliqué like brushed by brandy does? Just a thought? … I have bedroom furniture my husband bought and won’t let me touch…. so I improvise as well… frustrating sometimes because I feel like our bedroom should be our sanctuary 🤔 your home is amazing , you have a gift and that you share it is selfless and a blessing to us!
Christy says
Aww you are so sweet, Anna, thank you!! Yes it is frustrating and at the same time, I do have a set that is perfectly functional, you know? I love the idea of the appliqués! They are bendable before they set up and just might work! XOXO
Karolyn Love says
I don’t know…I really like the contrast between the walls, bedding, etc. with the color of the wood on the bed and bedside stands!?!! Your bedroom looks so rich and welcoming and those mirrors just added that something special!! But, whatever you decide will look beautiful, too, as I always love what you do with your pieces!! (I’m not following the crowd on this one, I guess..lol!)
Christy says
Thank you, Karolyn! I actually agree…I do like how the wood works with the lighter elements in the room. That’s probably why I haven’t rushed paint the furniture in here, but it’s not what I would choose for this space. We’ll see how it all unfolds! I appreciate your input! XOXO
Debbie in TX says
These mirrors are really beautiful, with your finishing touches making them so awesome. I agree that matching nightstands would be a terrific look, and you could move the beautiful night table from your side of the bed to some other spot in your home. It would be gorgeous anywhere.
Love that pic of Miss Lyla! What a cutie!
Christy says
Thank you, Debbie! I do like the idea of matching night stands. Ya’ll have given me some great ideas to think about. We are so thrilled that Lyla is healthy and doing so well! XOXO
Kim says
Miss Lyla is gorgeous and she matches the furniture in that shot! I love your bedside table and how feminine and masculine are paired.
Christy says
Thank you, Kim! I didn’t realize Lyla matched our house when we rescued her lol! XOXO
Margie says
Love the mirrors,PAINT & distress your bed just like the mirrors then bring in blue night stand & paint his to match the blue.
Christy says
I like those ideas, Margie! Thank you! XOXO
Phyllis says
Miss Lyla is beautiful. Love the mirrors. I don’t know how you accomplish soooo much. I always look forward to see what you are doing. I have a sleigh bed and although the quality isn’t the greatest, I am going to paint it this winter in the hopes that I will like it better. I purchased a diningroom table and chairs earlier this year because I couldn’t find anything that I wanted to ‘redo’. Big mistake. Since that purchase, I have seen many table sets that are more my scrappy style. I wouldn’t dare suggest changing this to my husband – I love him and don’t want him to have a heart attack. However, I have learned my lesson. Keep up the great work. Love your nightstand.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Phyllis! I’m afraid of the same thing…that I would buy a new set, and then find beautiful pieces that I’d rather have that I could redo! I still make try to paint our bed too and see if I like it more as well! XOXO
Marian Romano says
Hi Christy,
I really like the way your mirrors turned out. They look beautiful in your room. I don’t think everything has to match. Yes, I’m kind of a matchy matchy girl, but I think a room is more interesting when there is a mix of things. Go with your heart. You are such an inspiration.
Marian
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Marian! I do like a mix of things. Ya’ll have given me lots of great ideas to consider! XOXO
JANET SCHEN says
I love the estate sale nightstand. It’s so beautiful! I think it’s fine that it doesn’t match. I think things look better if they don’t match as it looks like you put the room together over time with finds that you love. Matchy-matchy is boring! I think you should go for it and paint the bed. Work your magic on it and I’ll bet it will be wonderful. Love what you did with the mirrors and I agree with hanging them at the same height. I think the previous suggestion of raising the lamp on some books is a good one. As always your projects are amazing!
Christy says
Thank you, Janet! I like a collected over time look. I appreciate your input! XIZO
Janet Filberth says
Christy!
I totally echo all the other comments….ignore those grapes and paint it!! I can’t believe you haven’t already …you brave girl!!
I know it will look beautiful and think of the money you will save. ..bedroom sets are expensive !!!
The money you save could go towards a nice trip. ..you know hubby would like that!!
Love your site!!! I will be watching for the bedroom re do!!
Janet
Christy says
Thanks so much, Janet! I can’t believe I haven’t painted it yet either ha ha! I do love the idea of saving money! XOXO
Addie says
Oh!!! Please paint the grapes purple!!!! I guess the set was made for someone in mind that was a vinter!!!! Or maybe just a wino!!! ……maybe you would qualify??? lolololo
There doesn’t seem to be grapes on the bed…no? LOVE your side table…pretty!!! LOVE the mirrors.
Christy says
Oh ha ha!! You are such a hoot and always make me smile! Thank you, my friend! XOXO
Marie says
Awe, little cutie Lyla has grown so much! I have a couple of 70’s dresser mirrors and I painted one white and it sold right away. I painted the other red and it hasn’t sold. Guess what I’m painting soon? Your mirrors just proved to me that I need to repaint that one mirror.
Christy says
She really is growing so fast! I forgot how fast they grow! Isn’t it a shame that the red hasn’t sold? I would love to step outside my comfortable color box more, but I can’t afford for things to just sit after all the hard work, and repainting things is just no fun! I bet your mirror will sell the minute you repaint it. OOH or maybe it needs to become a Christmas mirror with some faux etching?? Have a fantastic weekend, my dear friend! XOXO
Sandra says
I actually love the bedroom the way it is,..one day painted furniture will be old hat…I see it coming now. Love the kitty cat ..she is beautiful!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Sandra! XO
Tanya says
I absolutely love the mirrors, after I finish painting, I am going to do this with my mirrors. It looks like it reflects a lot of light into the room. I was just looking around my house for more things to downsize and I noticed your rose back chairs. I have 4 vintage rose back chairs that I’ve had for 20 years and been thinking about downsizing, but I think I’ll wait to see what you do with yours.
Christy says
Thank you, Tanya! The mirrors do reflect light and I love that. I haven’t started those chairs yet… I’m anxious to see what I come up with ha ha! They are lovely chairs! XOXO
Cassandra says
Christy I love how the night stands do not match. The mirrors balance it all out. Nicely done! ( Like all your efforts). You are such an inspiration. Thank you for all your share with us.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cassandra! I do like how each of our nightstands reflects our personalities. I think I’m going to live with the room as it is for now. I appreciate your input! XOXO
Patty says
Oh, Christy, you are just the “sweetest”, so talented, creative, beautiful, and so kind to everyone. I have no doubt you will eventually get your bedroom to a place that both you and your husband will love it. We have unmatched night stands, but same color and height – our lamps are different but same height. I love the mirrors and I would like to add some. I have a couple of mirrors, but they are not alike. If I painted both, would it look “off” since they are different? I’ll have to check their height – I think they are close to the same. Should I wait until I can find two alike? I am so in love with your beautiful little Miss Lyla. So thankful that she is healthy!
Christy says
Aww you are so sweet, Patty! Thank you! I would think that if the two mirrors are similar enough in size that they should do just fine! And yes, we are so grateful that Miss Lyla is doing so well too! XOXO
Christine says
Hi! LOVE what you did. In reference to the “grape” nightstand, maybe you could paint and distress and make into a bar. Store napkins, etc. in the drawers and maybe put a mirrored or tray top. Then, get a new stand for hubby.
then you can paint the bed 🙂
Christy says
Thank you, Christine! That is actually not a bad idea, but I’m afraid both of our dressers are infested too lol. I’m going to stare at it a while longer and see if inspiration strikes! 🙂 XOXO
Catherine says
Oh, little Miss Lyla is so pretty! Yes, she has grown a lot. And I would definitely jump at the chance to paint the bed and nightstand with the grapes. They will look gorgeous, especially since I know you will paint them white! LOL
Christy says
Thank you, Catherine! I forgot how fast kittens grow…she is growing so quickly! Ha ha…I should just paint this set already. I just know it will be a big task and it will need to be done in the bedroom as they are all too big to move. And yes…white is my first choice lol. You know me well! XOXO
Becky says
Wow, that’s proof that when all the details are right, you don’t care about a “little thing” like outdated wood tones/ grapes (!?)!!! That room is beautiful! Your mirrors are the perfect touch- the sprinkles on the cupcake!
I wonder if the grapes are removable? Maybe a heat gun could loosen some glue? Of course, it will definitely ruin the finish, so you’d have to have a painting plan before plugging in, or grabbing a hammer and chisel, haha! These jobs are the kind I manage to “think about” for a looooong time, haha! In the meantime, it’s still such a pretty space!
Christy says
Aww thank you, Becky! The grapes seem to be carved into the wood…I think they are there to stay. I am thinking more about what else I can do to this space. The mirrors got the ball rolling! XOXO
Missy says
I understand not liking your bed, which I do love, because I have an oak set that I secretly want to paint. It is huge with acorns raised on it. Don’t get me wrong, it’s beautiful, but now not my style. I want to paint it, then pad the center and do a diamond tuck with velvet. Like you, will I ruin it’s value????? Could you use the new bendable appliqués over the grapes?
Christy says
Acorns, huh? I’m not sure what is worse lol. I was thinking about tufting the center panel of our bed as well…funny! We should just go for it!! My set isn’t very valuable, so I wouldn’t feel bad about it at all. Great idea about the appliques…I actually have a mould that I was considering, but I would have to do an insane amount of sanding to get it smooth enough to work. I may just paint them and see if it looks that bad. We’ll see! I appreciate your input! XOXO
Shirley says
My bedroom suite is very similar to yours and I would love to update it. I didn’t have room for the sleigh bed so we had to opt for a little different one but very similar. Ive had mine for about 14 years now and I’m a bit tired of it (not really but I so want to paint it..lol) so I need a change. We actually had to store the bed upstairs because we went from a queen to a king and of course the bed didn’t work. We are in our forever home now and when we moved in 6 years ago I knew I was after my forever furnishings. I have recently found the bed of my dreams which is gold so I want to change the dressers, nightstands, mirrors, everything that goes with the set. I’d rather do that than get a new set that is made cheaply.
Christy says
I say we both just go for it! It sounds like neither of us are in love with our sets as there are now! I’m imaging a brand new painted set in white and our bedroom all decked out for Christmas! XOXO
Wendy says
OMG Christy Nooooo do not paint that bedroom suite. You will regret it in the long run. You know my thoughts on painted furniture… I am a wood worker, wood turner and artist and painted solid wood is a no no in my books… but it is of course all up to you. A few years from now you will regret it when painted furniture goes completely out of style… and it will. There is of course a place for painted distressed furniture. Beach house comes to mind. I would love to have one of those, with a nautical theme. LOL In the meantime I will have to just live with my camper trailer 😉 I have a Drexel Bedroom suite that was close to 20,000.00. Sleigh bed and Armoire with a Hemingway trunk. My whole house theme is basically Moroccan. For me painted furniture would just not work. You take care.. I know you will do what is right for you and keep up the wonderful tutorials.
Christy says
Aww I know how much you treasure beautiful wood, Wendy, and I totally respect that! This set is far from heirloom quality, so I don’t feel too badly about the thought of painting it. The way the top of my hubby’s dresser absorbed moisture when a plant we watered had overflowed a few times leads me to believe that parts of it aren’t even real wood. I have never cared for this set as is and if painting it makes me love it, then that’s a good thing, right? Thank you for your input, my friend…always appreciate it! XOXO
Wendy says
Sounds good Christy. Will be awaiting your tutorial on the bedroom suite. 😉 always a pleasure watching what you do.
Christy says
Thank you! 🙂 XOXO
Shirley says
Of course I love all of your work and many favorites on this particular haul. I am just wondering what kind of price would you put on these mirrors for resale?
Christy says
Thank you so much, Shirley!! If I were to sell these, I would probable price them for $59 each! XOOX
Shirley says
You will not believe this but A lady I know who paints small things like the mirrors and has 2 sets of them on a website I go to for selling. She has the sets, (which one is almost identical to yours) Priced at $399.00. I don’t think she’ll ever sell them. She’s had them on there for close to a year that I know of. And seriously your paint job is wayyyyyyy better!!
Christy says
What??? That is insane!! I wonder if she ever sells anything lol!
