Hello lovelies! I am SO excited to share my next haul of goodies today!
Photographing my hauls and working though each piece one by one, crossing them off as I go, is my favorite way to share projects, and it has really helped to keep my hoarding tendencies under control.
Seeing all that I have ahead of me keeps me from wanting to keep shopping for more. If you have a hoard of treasures that is slowly taking over your spaces, this is a great way to get them done!
Here are all the makeovers coming your way over the next few months:
You won’t believe how much of this came from just one day of yard saling!
The Best Yard Sale Day Ever
As I was nearing the end of my last haul, I set out bright and early one Saturday morning in hopes of finding a few things to get my new haul started.
I found a tiny yard sale sign pointing towards a neighborhood close to ours and decided to follow it. I immediately came upon a yard sale.
As I was shopping, the son of the home owner came walking up excited about something he had purchased from a neighbor, and I quickly realized it was a neighborhood yard sale! Yay!
The lack of signage was a bonus for me because I found a bunch of goodies that day:
I had to make a drop at my house and go back for the rest!
Pictured at the back of that photo is the sofa table that I already shared on Thursday.
I picked it up for $30:
See how I updated it HERE if you missed it.
At that same yard sale, I also got this set of drop leaf tables for $20 each:
And I picked up this small step stool from them for $5:
The next house had a couple of things. I picked up this super cute chalkboard sign for $3:
They were asking $5, but it had blown over and part of the back leg broke off, so I offered $3. I glued it together as soon as I got it home…good as new!
I also nabbed this pretty corbel shelf for only $1:
Then I came upon another house that had quite a few furniture pieces for sale.
I got this large table for $25:
I also got this unique smaller table for $25:
And then I grabbed this primitive bench for $20:
There was a headboard and footboard in the yard sale photo above that I excluded from this haul for now. That was FREE!
They had it leaned against something and the wind blew had blown it over, breaking one of the balls on the top of the footboard clean off. They were going to toss it but offered it to me for free when I asked what size it was. I will definitely do something with that!
The last home in that neighborhood that had some things I liked was offering this Singer notions organizer for $20:
As well as this little sewing table that was also $20:
On my way home, I stopped at a couple of other sales and found this silver tray for $10:
And I also found this cute lamp for $10, but I offered them $8:
That was the best yard sale day ever!
A Couple of Freebies
Then, last week, my sweet neighbor offered a few things to me since she is moving.
I already shared what I did with this set of prints:
You can see them HERE.
She also offered me this cute fru fru lamp:
I am always looking for lamps for my booth!
She also gave me this metal candle holder:
I got a few more things from her, but they didn’t make it into this haul.
Speaking of FREE, I have one more thing! Sitting outside our antique mall with a FREE sign on it was this wooden horse:
It had been priced at $35 according to the tag, but I guess the booth owner had given up on it! I was happy to take it off their hands!
Thrift Store finds
And of course, I found several thrift store treasures for this haul as well!
I got this tea box for half of $7.99 since all yellow tags were half price:
I also picked up this smaller box for $3.99:
I love redoing random boxes! They are like blank canvases.
I was also on the hunt for some smalls to fill in the gaps in my booth and found several things!
These really heavy metal candlesticks were for $12 for the pair:
The weight of them made them totally worth that.
I also found this odd set…one is actually a vase and the other a candlestick. They were half off so I got them for $8 for the set:
I picked up this small silver tray for $4:
I found this metal trash for $4.99:
This little cutie was $3.99:
I have already redone two of these exact cabinets, so I passed on this the first time I saw it, but I decided to have a go with it the next time I saw it since it was half off, making it $6:
This is another piece I passed on the first time because it was priced too high, but it was 50% off on the next go! I ended up getting it for $6 also:
It’s pretty heavy!
I’m always drawn to baskets, and this one was calling my name for $3.99:
Then, I stumbled upon a couple more prints I can update with transfers for $4 each:
And my final thrift store find is this organizer thing I picked up for $10:
I just loved it when I saw it!
And finally, I had a local reader reach out to me offering this dresser and the two matching night tables that belonged to her parents for $50:
I had enough to work with already, but my sister was on the hunt for something she could redo for her son’s room, so her husband went to go get them.
They ended up being smaller than they looked in the photos and my sister thought they were too small. I was glad to take them off her hands since they are in pretty solid shape!
And that is my brand new haul!
My first piece is this fun drawer organizer/jewelry chest thingy:
I’ll be back sharing what I did with it on Thursday!
UPDATE: Lucky you! It’s done and you can see it HERE now!
Then, what should I work on next??
XOXO,

Nana Diana says
WOW! What a haul! You made out like a bandit! I mean that in the nicest way, of course. I can’t wait to see what you do with some of these pieces. I know they won’t look anything like they did orginally.
Happy last week of May- Diana
Christy says
Thanks, Diana! I sure did! What a nice surprise to realize that one tiny yard sale sign led to a fantastic neighborhood sale! Can you believe it’s almost June already?? You enjoy too! XOXO
Janice Holt says

Can’t wait to see what you do with the sewing machine drawers. I have 6 that I’m waiting for inspiration to strike.
Christy says
I am excited about those too, Bev! We’ll see what I can come up with! XOXO
Kathy says
Christy, I love your haul!! So many unique items; I cannot wait to see them after you work your magic. You have such a vision for making things beautiful!! Thank you for sharing your incredible talent. My husband and I will be visiting VA soon; hoping to visit your booth to finally see your pieces in person.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Kathy! This will be a fun one to work through for sure! And yay! I do hope you get the chance to visit…I’m located in the Virginia Beach Antique Mall on Bonney Rd. My booth is in a small room along the back wall. 🙂 XOXO
Cecilia says
What a great haul! I have a drop leaf table like the pair you found, so I’d love to see those next. I have oodles of prints in those fancy frames too that I got free from my mother in law. I have a stash of items waiting for me to redo. Maybe I’ll take a break from my art to work on clearing those out. You’ve inspired me!
😊Cecilia
Christy says
Thanks, Cecilia! I was so excited to find those and that there were two! I redid one very similar a few years ago here: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/cottage-inspired-drop-leaf-side-table/ I love that you’re feeling inspired!! XOXO
Debbie- Dabble says

I’m exited to see what you do with these things! I really like the primitive bench and notions organizer. I love garage sales!

I love garage sales too…you really can find the best treasures! That bench and the organizer are popular favorites…I might have to tackle one of those next! XOXO
Amanda says
What a fun and fabulous haul! Can’t wait to see what you do to them! 🙂
Christy says
Thanks, Amanda! I’m excited to see what becomes of them all too! XOXO
Dianne says
Do you have favorite thrift stores in the Virginia Beach area?
Christy says
Hi Dianne! The two I frequent the most are the Goodwill and the DAV, both on General Booth Blvd, but they are also the closest to me. I like the DAV on Virginia Beach Blvd for cheaper furniture finds…the one near me can be pricey. I also like taking a drive out to the DAV in Chesapeake every once in a while. I can usually find a few things there. I have the best luck earlier in the week. XOXO
Robin Stephens says
So, what you’re REALLY telling us is that you stub your toe every time you go in your garage, huh? 😉 🥰 LOVE the patina on that first silver tray. Will you keep it as-is? Very nice haul. You have got a LOT of work to do!!! ♥️ 😅 Get busy!!
Christy says
Ha ha not as much as I used to! The tray will likely be painted, but we’ll see. This is one of my favorite hauls so far so I’m really excited about this one! XOXO
Margie says
I absolutely love when you do these hauls so fun to see what you’re going to do with them.
Christy says
Aww yay! I am really excited about this one! XOXO
Katherine Foss says
The vase and candlestick next, very interested in what you imagine for them.
Christy says
Ooh okay…I am curious about those too! XOXO
Jan Kinman says
Oh my gosh! So many great pieces. You really hit the jack pot! Selfishly I have a pair of corbels I need inspiration for. Could you give me some inspiration? But I can’t wait to see how you transform the little sewing table! It’s going to be so fun watching you create your new beauties! Thank you for sharing your talent!!
Christy says
Thank you, Jan! I really lucked out on this bunch for sure! I have another request for the sewing table, so that will probably be soon! And it is always a pleasure to share!! XOXO
Vicki Bray says
Hi there! Will you do the little sewing cabinet next? I have one similar to that and I’m not sure what to do with it.
Thanks

Christy says

Deborah Mealus says
I can’t wait to see what you do with this new haul! You’re my go to for inspiration! You asked what you should do next and I would love to see what you do with the horse. I have a wooden rocking horse also and I’d love an idea or two!
Debbie
Christy says
Aww I love that so much, Deborah! That horse is one of my favorite finds and I think I’m going to use it for Trash to Treasure Tuesday in a couple of weeks! XOXO
Marcie Lovett says
I don’t know why, Christy, but it didn’t seem like as much in the picture as it did when you broke it all down 😉
I’m feeling a little yard-sale jealous, so much great stuff to work with! I love the revolving sewing table. Too bad the sewing cabinet is chewed up, but the drawers sell for a lot by themselves. Is it wrong to say I kind of love the lampshade? Because I do 😁
Can’t wait to see how you transform everything.
Christy says
Ha ha yes there is a lot hiding in that picture! And girl, I have never had such a good yard sale day ever! It was just pure luck rolling upon an awesome neighborhood yard sale first thing in the morning. I’m sure it will never happen again! With that sewing cabinet, I was thinking the same thing…I can get a lot more if I separate them, but then I’m hoping to fix the piece they are in somehow and do something with that too! And I love that shade too…just not the color. We’ll see what I can do with it! Have a fabulous week!! XOXO
Charleen says
What a haul!!!I will be looking forward to them all. Love the tables you found. That was the BEST YARD SALE DAY of all. Have a fun time bringing them back to a new and useful life. 😉
Christy says
Thank you, Charleen! That was definitely the best yard sale day I’ve ever had! XOXO
Diane says
Huge score on new haul!!
Christy says
Right?? I’m so excited about this one! XOXO
Robyn Wright says
Oh the many blank canvasses. Too fun!!
Christy says
Yes!! This will be a fun one for sure!! XOXO
Michele M. says
Whoo hoo!!!! Can’t WAIT to see what you do with all those affordable treasures, Christy! Yipppeee!!!
Christy says
Yay! Me too, Michele!! So many possibilities!! Woot woot!! XOXO
Denise Zdziennicki says
Amazing haul and I can’t wait to see what you do with them all! XOXO
Christy says
Thanks so much, my beautiful friend!! XOXO
Robin says
Great haul as usual, Christy. Neighborhood sales are always fun but that sale was particularly furniture worthy. The item that you are going to tackle first looks to be a desktop file drawer (paper sorter).
Christy says
Thank you, Robin! I do love neighborhood sales, but you’re right, this one was great for furniture! The drawers in that organizer thing are about the size of a half a sheet of paper. They are lined with felt, so I was thinking jewelry, but those tags on the front are throwing that off ha ha! XOXO
Lori says
You have the best garage sales to go to! The prices on things here is usually too high.
Christy says
Maybe it’s because we have a large military population who are just trying to purge things before moving again? I was sure glad to benefit! XOXO
p says
Wow !! Quite a haul, and soooo many interesting pieces. 🙂
I’m can’t wait to see what creative ideas you come up with !
That scrolly little metal pot is so cute. The FruFru lamp will be an interesting redesign for sure !
I so wish I had you vision !!
Thanks so much for sharing.
Christy says
This round does have a really nice variety! I kind of love the lamp…we’ll see what I come up with for it lol! XOXO
Joanne says
The most suspenseful posts are when you share your haul. But they are also a favorite Cause they leave me with so much anticipation. And lots to look forward to. I love seeing you work your magic.
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoy them, Joanne! It’s fun to imagine all the possibilities! Thank you so much!! XOXO
