Amazing friends welcome back! If you stopped in last week, you know that I am working through a new stack of treasures that I saved from my own yard sale. (I shared a few pics of our yard sale HERE if you missed it!) Well, a couple of things I was trying hard to purge, but no one else wanted them either, so I decided to give them some love as well.
Today I’m sharing these frames that once hung in our old master bathroom:
And yup, those would be two of my family member’s feet in there. Why I thought it would be a good idea to frame our feet to decorate the walls, I will never know, but you have to admit, Brennan’s little piggies were so darned cute!
These frames have just been sitting in my storage room waiting for the next yard sale. Also in my yard sale pile were these coastal prints:
I loved these prints when I found them. All the trim in our old house was ivory and so I had more ivory in our decor instead of bright white. It wasn’t easy finding coastal-inspired decor in ivory so these were a great find. They hung in our living room for years. I have been enjoying brighter whites in our new home, so these didn’t quite make the cut.
I just hated to sell them for next to nothing at my yard sale, so I decided to keep them.
When I saw both these prints and the frames together, I was reminded of our dining room artwork…and you may remember them as well:
And I thought why not pair these up and do the same?
And so I did!
Framed, these prints look so much better! Before they were just wrapped around a wooden frame. I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
First I removed the glass and plastic “mat” that was in the frame before. Then I painted the frames using Dixie Belle’s Buttercream. It’s a really pretty creamy color and I thought it suited the pictures. I used it on this dressing table as well. (If you’re using DIY chalk paint, I love Cottage White by Behr as well.)
Then I sanded lightly here and there to distress a little using 220 grit sandpaper wrapped around an old foam sanding block.
I sealed with Dixie Belle’s Best Dang Wax in clear.
Then I removed the prints from their simple wooden frames and used one of the pieces of glass to help mark where I needed to cut each print:
I used my rotary cutter and cutting mat set to cut them all perfectly straight…
The backs of these had stiff paper attached, so I just put them back in the frame without the glass, added the backing and secured them in place with the prong thingys that were there originally. Had they been more flimsy like the ones I have in my dining room, I probably would have wrapped them around the original glass.
And now they look even nicer, don’t you think?
These will be heading to my booth!
That’s two more items checked off my yard sale rescue list:
If you missed the shelf, you can see that HERE!

Laura says
How cool that you have so much in your treasure trove to put together the four frames and the four prints! They look lovely and the colors are just perfect. Nice and neutral and they can work in a variety of decors. This is one of my favorite blogs and I get fantastic ideas for my own home! Nice!!
Christy says
Thank you SO much, Laura! I was very pleased that these worked so well together! XOXO
Naomi Shelton says
Christy, what did you do with the inner mats from the frames that you had the feet photos in? I really liked those. I think the newly framed shells look really good in the white frames. I love shell images. I have some that are embossed on a heavy ivory paper. No coloring or lines, just the embossed image. I’ve been wondering how to frame them and I think maybe a similar treatment to what you used for your shell art. It’s great that you could shop your own sale and find new uses for your things.
Christy says
Hi Naomi! I loved those mats also and in fact, they were the reason I bought those frames to begin with. Unfortunately, they mats were just cheap plastic. I did keep them though just in case…you never know! Your images sound really pretty! XOXO
Annie says
Beautiful job Christy! I think adding the frames is exactly what the prints needed. I’m sure they will sell quickly!
Christy says
Thank you, Annie! I sure hope so! XOXO
LeAnn Blevins says
