Welcome to day #14 of this crazy March Madness Series, Friends!! Are y’all tired of seeing a good before and after yet? Me either! Today’s makeover may be small, but it will give you something else to keep your eye out for next time you’re thrifting!
I found this little metal-of-some-sort holder-of-sorts at a thrift store a few weeks ago for $1.98 and I just loved the shape of it:
I dry brushed a little paint here and there and voila!
I am imagining this held parmesan cheese, olive oil or vinegar on a table? I really have no clue, but it had dust rings on the bottom in the shape of small bottles.
I love the detailed handle…
Perfect for a bedside table to hold trinkets or your jewels from the day…
I used DIY Chalk Paint that I applied with a very dry brush. I sanded and sealed with Annie Sloan clear wax like normal.
This is another case where spray paint just wouldn’t have looked nearly as good.
I’ve been on the hunt for more ever since, but haven’t had any luck so far. I do love the way the metal peeks through!
Short and sweet today, but too sweet not to share!
I’ll be back tomorrow sharing how I made over these very patriotic lamps:
These would have gone perfectly in my house back in the day! 😀
UPDATE: See what I did with them HERE now!

Hi Christy,
Love how this turned out. It actually looks like a Communion server that held the cups of wine. Just a thought???? Keep the ideas coming!

Are you sure that wasn’t sterling silver? You must have the best thrift shops around with great prices!!!! Very cute for holding jewelry painted or not.
Okay,..those lamps for tomorrow….are U-G-L-Y!!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!!!
God Bless!!

Oh I don’t know…I can’t tell any of those metals apart. This particular store has a whole section of silver plated/silver/aluminum pieces that are priced very reasonably and always have a peek there. That’s where I found this. As for the lamps lol I promise they look much better now!

I love this! I have something similar I’m going to try this on. 🙂 I was thinking it would look good painted like this and you’ve just confirmed it for me! Yay! haha!
Christy K. James says
Oh yay glad I could test it for ya ha ha! 🙂

Oh Christy, love the tray but love even more the photo of you and your husband! Simply beautiful! And it’s good to learn that I can just put paint on something metal like your tray that’s going to be simply used. I thought maybe you would have had to do some kind of special prep. I suppose if it was going to be taking more of a workout in use you would have to do some special prep. Thanks for sharing and keep smiling.
Christy K. James says
Aww, thanks! I love that photo too! The wax that is used to seal is what will protect the final finish from wearing or chipping off. 🙂

I tried commenting from my phone last night but I don’t think it went through. If it did, sorry for the double comment. What a great little find and how pretty it looks painted white! I’ve been pinning all your March Madness projects and this one has been added to the queue.
Christy K. James says
Hey Miss Marie! No duplicates. 🙂 Thank you, my Friend! XO

Hey Christy, just trying to catch up on my emails when I saw this!! Oh my goodness, I saw the exact same condiment holder at a local GW. They had it marked $3.99. You couldn’t imagine what to do with it and I tried, oh how I tried…. lol Now, I wish I would have read your blog sooner! Oh well! Thanks for the fabulous inspiration!! Love ya’
Patricia B says
It should say I couldn’t imagine what to do with it… You could and did
an awesome job with it!! Love ya’
Christy K. James says
Oh no! Maybe they still have it? I just saw the cutest bird feeder my friend made out of an old chair back and wouldn’t you know that just two days ago, I threw almost the same exact chair back away because I just could not come up with something to do with it! It happens to the best of us ha ha! XOXO
