Happy Saturday, Friends!! We are 12 days into this March Madness, 31 Thrifty Makeovers in 31 Days Series, and it’s about time for a quick one! Is that okay with y’all?
Today I’m sharing a trio of candlesticks that I found at a yard sale for $8.
Here they are as I found them:
They looked like really nice quality candlesticks so I just couldn’t pass them up. She was asking $10 and I offered $6, we settled on $8.
A coat of paint made them all new and pretty again!
Now I know this is just a simple paint job, but I wanted to share because while it would have been really easy to use spray paint and call it a day, I used chalk paint instead. Chalk paint has a texture I love that you just don’t get with spray paint. This is a mix of Behr’s Cottage White and Pure White.
I sanded with 220 grit sandpaper and waxed like normal.
While I do use spray paint here and there, it goes on very thin and doesn’t really have any dimension to it at all, which is desired for some projects, but not for one with all these curvy details.
Looks like a whole new set now, doesn’t it? And you can’t beat the price.
Where else can you buy a set of pretty candlesticks for only $8? The candles came with them as well…bonus!
I can’t wait for yard sale season!!
This would be a great way to unify a few odd candlesticks to create a set as well. I might just go digging around and see if I can do just that!

I’m confused as to exactly how u redid these candle candle sticks. Do u ever post step by step directions?
Christy says
The only thing missing is a photo of me actually painting the candlesticks. I shared all the details in my post, but this was one of 31 posts I shared in March where I posted a makeover every day, so it was just a quick before and after. If you have any questions about painting with chalk paint, I share every step of a dresser makeover using chalk paint here: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/how-to-paint-furniture-using-chalk-paint/ 🙂
