Hello beautiful friends! Welcome back! Today I am excited to be sharing the final piece of my Post-Shutdown Thrift Store Haul!! It feels so good to have another load of goodies completed.
Today’s makeover is this silver tray I picked up for $2.25:
I actually found this one before the big shut-down, and it had been marked down. I love clearance at the thrift store!
What I really loved about this tray though is that it had these cute little feet:
Sold! I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
Before I could paint this tray, I gave the top a good sanding with 220 grit sandpaper to give the metal surface some grip. Then I spray-primed with Rustoleum spray primer. Most things do not need to be primed, but it is a good idea when painting metal. I let it dry for at least a day.
Then I decided to use a pretty new custom color I mixed that I tried on a piece in my last smalls post on this metal basket:
This custom color mix is:
I absolutely love Sea Glass. However, it is just a tad on the green side, so I was looking for something in same tone but more blue.
Adding Cotton gave me just the color I was looking for!
I kept the handles and the underside in Cotton and decided it needed something on the top, so I reached for this simple wreath stencil that I still had out from the picnic basket I used it on in my other recent smalls post:
Then I go back with a liner brush and fill in the breaks that give it away as a stencil. I also attached the leaves to the wreath on this one:
You can see more on how I add stencils in this video if you like:
If you have trouble viewing, find it on YouTube HERE.
I sanded lightly and sealed with Dixie Belle’s Best Dang Wax in clear.
This would be perfect on a vanity holding toiletries or on a dresser holding perfumes!
I love the detailed handles these trays have…
And of course, the sweet feet that this one has!
It could also be cute on a desk holding all those office essentials!
This was a pretty simple makeover, but here’s what else I’ve been working on:
Always hustling ha ha! These will be heading to my booth hopefully today. You can see how I make chalkboards in an oldie post HERE.
And that is another round done!
If you missed any, you can see what became of them all at the links below:
I still have three pieces left from my Mother’s Day Haul, but I have been shopping for a new haul of smaller (and not so small) items, so I’ll be back on Thursday to share what I found!
UPDATE: See what’s in my brand new haul HERE now!
I’m hoping to be moving Jack into his dorm this weekend, but I’ll be back on Tuesday to share the first of those projects. Then I’ll see y’all back here next Thursday with my Furniture Fixer Upper friends where I’ll be sharing one of my Mother’s Day Haul items!
Have a fantastic day!
Don’t Miss a Thing!
