Happy Thursday, lovely friends! Today I have a quick little makeover for y’all.
A few months ago my favorite thrift store near my house had two small rocking chairs for only $5 each. I always pick up children’s rockers when I see them because they always sell quickly.
I shared the first one back in January. You can see that one HERE. I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
Today I’m sharing chair #2:
I gave it one coat of DIY chalk paint (Recipe HERE.) in Behr’s Bit of Sugar using my HomeRight sprayer way back when I was painting my dining chairs. (See them HERE.)
However I ran out of paint and so there it sat in our garage…for several months awaiting its big finish. (My HomeRight shelter is awesome at holding several things to paint at once!)
I finally gave it another couple of coats that it needed with a brush and then decided to add just a pop of color to it:
Can you see the color?
Green! I never use green around here but I had a sample pot of this pretty green in our paint hoard. I used this color in Brennan’s nursery to go along with his monkey theme and I had purchased a sample pot later for some touch-ups. This is the perfect green for a wall…so soft. It’s called Grass Cloth by Behr.
His nursery was so cute!
These props were from his nursery.
The blanket is special since it was made by one of my dear friends. Isn’t it so sweet?
To paint the stripes, I just taped off every other slat on the seat with FrogTape for delicate surfaces…
I sanded very lightly all over except for the green parts, then sealed with Rustoleum clear matte spray. I wouldn’t use it on a large furniture piece because it might end up streaky, but for smaller pieces with lots of parts, it works great.
I’ll be back on Tuesday sharing how I gave this stool makeover #2:
UPDATE: See how I freshened up this little stool HERE now!
Have a fantastic weekend! 🙂

What a sweet rocker and loved the blanket (and monkey). Was so surprised to see green but it worked.
Christy says
Thank you, Janice! I know I don’t use green very often, but it would be sweet and a little boys room, or even a girl…that was my favorite color when I was little! Have a great day! XOXO

Another sweet makeover Christy! If this is in your booth, I bet it is already sold. 🙂 Thanks for reminding me why I “mistakenly” purchased the Frog Tape for delicate surfaces. 🙂
Also, your friend made a sweet blanket. 🙂
Thanks for the wonderful inspiration and have a delightful weekend. Hopefully warm enough to sit out on your porch, in one of those great chairs with a large cup of… your beverage of choice. 🙂
Christy says
Thank you, Christina! I love playing around with little pieces like this! And yes…the weather is supposed to warm up here this weekend, so maybe I will be able to get out on that porch and enjoy it! Have a great weekend! XOXO

Hi,
Your things always turn out so cute.. Love the little rocker.
I was wondering what kind of spray gun you use. My husband and I have quite a few projects around the house that a sprayer should would make it a lot easier and want to use one that is tried and tested.. Also do you have to thin the paint when using it..
Thanks for your great posts and help.
Jacky
Christy says
Hi Jacky! Thank you! I have a HomeRight sprayer and it works great. You can find it on Amazon here:https://amzn.to/2JJ56Ng I have only used chalk paint in mine and I make a new batch when I use my sprayer. It is typically a little thinner when I first make it. Hope this helps! XO
Naomi S. says
Christy, that little rocker is so cute! I love the green on the seat. Just enough color. I just finished reading about the child’s rocker that Marie over at Interior Frugalista painted. She used green on her make-over, too. Yours and hers both are really sweet. I can’t choose one over the other they are both so appealing! If you haven’t seen hers go over and look. The green color that she used is a bit different than what you used but I think it’s beautiful with her particular rocker. Anyway, you both did really great jobs on these little pieces.
Thanks for sharing your inspiring work, Christy!
Christy says
Thank you, Naomi! I saw Marie’s rocker, and I love it!! Funny that we both shared little green rockers today! 🙂 XOXO
Jacky says

Your tips are great and your booth is amazing! We are thinking of opening a booth and I was curious if you have to have a license or register with the government first? I know each state has different laws and we are looking into it, but just wondered if you had any insight or tips on that aspect of starting a booth? Thank you.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Andrea! I do have to have a business license to run a booth here in Virginia, but that’s it! Good luck to you! XO
