Hey there Sweet Friends! I’m glad I could make some of y’all feel better about your own hoarding tendencies on Thursday ha ha. If you missed it, I shared my garage and what I decided to finally purge! Read about HERE.
I have been working on that set of chairs I uncovered during the big purge, and I will be sharing them on Thursday, so today I’m sharing a quick but cute little makeover!
I spied this lamp at the thrift store a couple of months ago:
Yep it’s a lamp! Cute, huh?
It was $6.98 and I didn’t want to spend quite that much, but when I stopped in a week later, it had been marked down to $3.98. Yes, I’ll take it now!
A little spray paint fixed it right up:
This is Rustoleum Robin’s Egg Blue, one of my favorites!
I used white acrylic craft paint and a small brush to paint the trim…
And added those tiny starfish…
I planned to make a “Starfish Cottage” sign for it, but couldn’t decide where I would hang it.
This would be cute in a bathroom if you had the counter space.
Simple and sweet! I’m really excited to share how these chairs turned out:
I’ll be back to share them on Thursday, along with five other furniture fixer upper friends who will also be sharing furniture makeovers!
UPDATE: I am so excited for you to see how they turned out now HERE!!!
See y’all then! 🙂
XO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

That is Super cute now! I LOVE paint, it does amazing things. Looking forward to seeing your chairs on Thursday!
Christy says
Thanks, Mary! Paint can transform just about anything! My hubby has a sad, decrepit old recliner that we just finally replaced. He challenged me to make it over. I had to surrender on that one…one thing paint can’t fix ha ha! XOXO
Christina in FL says
Christy, this is another one I would have walked right by without a second thought. Then you show me how incredibly cute this is! Love the details and it totally fits with the aesthetic in your shop. Adorable.
Christy says
Ha ha…I loved it the minute I saw it. I’m glad painting it updated it though. It was pretty dated before! 🙂
Janice says
Cute and love the little starfish on it. Can’t wait to see the chairs.
Christy says
Thanks, Janice! I’m excited to share how the chairs turned out!! XOXO

Cecilia says
Oh that’s too cute! Love the tiny starfish accents. Can’t wait to see your chairs!
Christy says
Thanks, Cecilia! I’m glad I remembered I had those tiny starfish. The chairs turned out really well…can’t wait to share them! XOXO
Nancy @ Slightly Coastal says
That turned out cute! I can’t believe it is a lamp. I hope it flies out of your shop.
Nancy
Christy says
Thanks, Nancy! I know…such a cute idea! The light burned out when I dropped it off at the shop and just replaced it. It shouldn’t last long now. 🙂
Marcie Lovett says
It might have been a quick makeover, but it made a huge difference! Another piece I would have walked right past. Someone is going to enjoy that lamp now.
Christy says
Thanks, Marcie! I’m glad I took a chance on it! XOXO
Kimberly says
Very cute! This looks like it would be a perfect night light in a guest bath where a little more light is needed for visitors. Love the starfish!
Christy says
Thanks, Kimberly! Absolutely…I was thinking the same thing! XO
Olivia says
Cute makeover. Does the little house take a battery candle?
Christy says
Thanks, Olivia! It has a light in the back that plugs in, similar to what you might see in a Christmas village house. 🙂
Annie (Canada) says
Cute lamp! I’m looking forward to see the chair make-over 🙂
Christy says
Thanks, Annie! One chair makeover coming right up, I mean two. I actually decided to keep them! 🙂

Your garage looks like mine. I’ve often wondered, since you say you pulled things out of there so often. I could totally visualize the “beach cottage” sign over the door and then the starfish that’s above the door going over the sign. So cute! I love how it turned out and I would totally put it in the bathroom as a night light for the littles.
I seriously don’t know how you keep pumping out projects like you do. I have so many, but have so much going on in my life that I can’t make the time consistently even when I’m determined to do it.
Can’t wait to see how those chairs turned out.
Christy says
Ha ha yes my poor garage! I can actually paint inside my garage now instead of hauling everything out to the driveway. And I had already added that little starfish above the door on this lamp when I realized that was about the only place for the sign. I never thought to put it on the sign itself. Great idea! As far as getting things done, my kids are in school all day so that helps. My number one best way to stay productive is to start a to-do list for each day, there’s just something about crossing things off that get things done around here. I add pretty much everything including my projects so my list will look something like this: empty dishwasher, paint a first coat on small table, find a graphic for top of table, call dentist, etc. XOXO
