Hello dear friends! If you stopped by on Tuesday, you know that I finished my PPost Shut-Down Thrift Store Haul! While I still have three pieces left in my Mother’s Day Haul that I have been working through simultaneously, I thought I’d better get a new stash of goodies going. Today I’m sharing what I found!
It was a bit of a challenge to find furniture, but I think I did alright in the smalls department:
First up are these two pitchers:
The smaller of the two was $2.25 and the larger one was $4.25. I always pick up white pitchers when I see them. I may do arrangements in these for my booth.
Up next is another smaller item, this pretty clock I spied for $5.25:
I loved the carved details on this!
How about a lamp? This one was only $4.25:
It had some pretty details too!
And how about a pair of lamps?
These weren’t super cheap at $8.25 each, but I liked that there was a pair of them, perfect for a buffet or sofa table. I did have a full punch card that gave me 20% off though! I was able to use it on a few other items like the clock above as well.
I actually found two more lamps that aren’t pictured above that I’ll share at the end.
Next up is this little box:
I don’t know if it’s ugly or cute lol, but but I thought paint could do wonders for it for only $2.98.
Here is another clock I found:
It was $10 which is a bit more than it would have been priced before everything shut down. It has a HomeGoods tag on the back, but I thought it would be even prettier painted.
This next piece is a popular home decor piece from the 80’s:
It might be from Home Interiors. I have redone two of these already HERE and HERE, and I have passed on this same shelf twice, and here we are again! I decided to get it since it was only $3.98.
What would my haul be without a basket? (There’s more than this…stay tuned.)
This one I actually found at our Antique Mall and loved that it had a wooden lid. I believe I paid $8 for it:
I always sell these little spice racks, so I usually pick them up and this one was only 99¢!
This next piece looks like a Hobby Lobby mass-produced piece, but for $6.25, I figured I could give it a little more personality!
My only thrift store furniture score from the bunch was this dresser I nabbed for $60:
Isn’t she gorgeous?? The top isn’t nearly as pristine, but overall it was in really great shape and what a steal at that price! The drawers are all super clean too. I grabbed the ticket on this one immediately! I’m playing with a couple of ideas for this one already, but I’ll finish my Mother’s Day Haul pieces before I get to this one.
And finally, how about a couple of small frames? They are great smalls for the booth and when I can find pretty ornate or chunky ones, they paint up so pretty!
These were both $2.98:
I also found this one, but forgot to get a photo of it with the rest:
This one was $2.25.
I also picked up these sweaters that weren’t in the group photo:
One was half off and I used my coupon that I used on the set of lamps on these also, so only $14 for all four. Stay tuned to see what they become because I won’t be wearing them!
And here are two more lamps that weren’t included in the group photo either:
This one was half off of $15…not too bad for $7 for a really large lamp with beautiful details! I’ll be sharing what I did with it on Tuesday.
I’ll also be sharing this one on Tuesday:
It too was half off, but it started at $8, so only $4 for a standing lamp! I love lamps in my booth for the ambient lighting they add to the space, so I always check out the lamp aisle. I do try to look for really good deals since I usually have to buy shades as well. (My favorite place to find shades is HomeGoods because they are generally very reasonably priced.)
When I had all my items gathered, I decided to go digging around in my storage room to see what else I could find. It is currently housing Jack’s college stuff and spare TP lol:
Don’t even ask me to get you anything out of that closet!
I can’t blame him for the mess of the rest of the room though:
From behind that black trash bag (that houses my packing materials), I pulled two more baskets.
This one I paid $6.25 for:
And this ugly duckling came home with me for $2.98:
I’m not making any promises on that one!
Then I dug on the bottom shelves and pulled out this flatware box that was marked $4.25:
It looked like someone kicked it down the street, but I’m sure we can work some magic on it!
And here is the other corner of my storage room:
As you can see, this is also Miss Lyla’s room. I am determined to get this stash whittled down as soon as Jack’s stuff is out of here. Redoing several frames into chalkboards last week helped clear a bit out. I also pulled out that sewing machine table that you see stacked there to put in with this haul:
I bought this probably two Summers ago from a nice gentleman at a yard sale for $20. He insisted on loading it into my car for me, and said as he was loading it, “I hope you don’t plan to slap paint on this. I redid it myself.” I assured him I would not. And that right there is why it is still sitting in my storage room! I’m sure the statute of limitations has run out on that promise by now though, don’t you think?
And that is my new End of Summer Haul!
Enough to keep me busy for a couple of months at least!
I hope you enjoyed seeing my goodies.
I’ll see y’all back here on Tuesday with two lamps:
UPDATE: See how these look now HERE! I think you’ll be surprised!
Have a great weekend!!

Mary Kaiser says
Wow what fun pieces you found, I want to go thrifting in Virginia with you! You have some great pieces there to work your magic on, I am so excited to watch the transformations!!
Christy says
Thanks, Mary! The hunt is always so much fun! I’m really looking forward to getting started on this bunch! Have a great weekend!
Dee Casto says
I love your blog. You have no idea how much you’ve helped me with my booth. I’m fantastic at building, redoing, and reimagining my pieces. But I cannot put them together and stage them to sell to save my life. I was in Uptown Market in Wilmington, NC for years. Although I did very well with my furniture, my booth was always the ugly duckling. I’m in a shop in Jacksonville, NC where I live now. I just opened it a couple weeks ago and you have helped me more than you could possibly imagine. Keep going!
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Dee! I am so glad I was able to help in some way! Wishing you a successful fall season in your booth! XOXO
Christina says
Mother of Pearl, you have some stash!! Love the new haul!!
Does Lyla hang out on that shelf even though it’s above her litter box?
Here’s to a creative day!!
xo
Christy says
Thank you, Christina! I can’t wait to get started on this one! Poor Lyla! The room is closing in on her lol. We have a lot of birds that come into our back yard and Lyla loves to watch them, so I added that little bench so she could see them, and she uses it all the time. 🙂
Lilly says
Can’t wait to see all the makeovers but especially the Sewing Machine!! I have one that was given to me and it’s a blondie. I wanted to keep it original but doesn’t go with anything in my home, so it’s in a closet. I’m getting ready to just paint it and display it. 🙂
Christy says
I love sewing machine tables because they are such a great height to use next to a sofa or a bed! I don’t have any ideas for that one yet since I’ve had it for two years, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something! XOXO
Nancy Sharp says
I’m looking forward to what you will do with these pieces. I have several of the same things so I’m waiting for inspiration.😀
Christy says
Oh fun! Well hopefully I will come up with some good ideas for these pieces… Looking forward to getting started! XOXO
Gail says
Can’t wait to see what you do with this haul!

Your blog inspires me to do something with some great salvation army finds I’ve had for decades! I don’t see a way to attach a Pic.

Christy says
Thanks, Cheryl! That dresser was a steal! You know I grabbed that tag the minute I saw it! XOXO

Dang girl; You done good.
Love that clock with all the detail and then I seen the floor lamp below it and thought, what a match them 2 would make; especially with the rope scroll around the face of the clock and the rope scroll on the floor lamp.
I need to come shopping with you. :}
Enjoy your day and have a wonderful weekend.
From the looks of you haul, you will be busy.
Christy says
Thanks, Colleen! They would make a great pair! I didn’t even notice the matching details. Enjoy your weekend too! XOXO
Mary Clark says
Girl you really know how to find great pieces, at great prices – and with a vision for what they can become! Can’t wait to see these made beautiful!
Christy says
Thanks, Mary! I’m looking forward to starting on this haul! XOXO
Sally says
Love what you do and how you share everything!! So much inspiration!
Have a great day!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Sally! XOXO
Cindy says
Oh, that dresser is astounding! If you paint it, perhaps paint the top and frame and please consider not painting the drawers but allowing that gorgeous grain to show. Is it mahogany? It looks late 1940’s – early 1950’s. I would buy it if I lived close to your booth!
Christy says
Hi Cindy! I’m not sure what I’ll do with the dresser just yet, but I’m afraid it will probably involve paint. It is gorgeous though so it will be tough! XOXO
Norma says
Looking forward to seeing you work your magic on all those beautiful pieces 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend!
Christy says
Thank you, Norma! Enjoy your weekend too, my friend! XOXO
Carolyn Price says
Haha!! I have one of that pair that you bought! I wasn’t able to get two at the time.
I think I may have owned that swing-arm floor lamp, too. lol!!
HomeGoods 15 years later ….
So lovely when you give these older, out-of-style things new life, Christy. God bless you and all the DIYers with unlimited imagination and creativity!! Too much stuff is already going into our landfills.
Christy says
I saw your picture LOL! That’s so funny! I have a cute idea for that set, and I think I mentioned when I answered your email that I already have the perfect shades for them too! Have a great weekend! XOXO
Mary Ellen says
Try not to feel guilty, Christy. You told him exactly what he wanted to hear at the time. It made it easier for him to let it go. That made him happy. Now it’s time to make you happy! 😍
Christy says
That is very true! Thank you, Mary Ellen! XOXO
Joan says
I have followed your example and made pumpkins from sweater sleeves. What do you do with the “body” of the sweater that is left over?
Christy says
Oh awesome! And funny you should ask…I’m working with the old sweater bodies right now ha ha! I’ll stare soon! Stay tuned! XOXO
Mary Ellen says
Its funny that you said that about the sewing machine table. Many years ago, a friend offered me one for free that her husband had picked up somewhere. I knew he was dead-set against painting vintage furniture. I said that i would love to have it, as long as they understood I would paint it. LOL They expected as much, and gave me the table. It’s panted white and still lives in my bedroom, functioning as a nightstand. I can’t wait to see what you do with yours! You are so talented and creative. And yes, the statute has most definitely run out!
Christy says
Oh ha ha! I feel like I’m carrying around guilt because I fibbed to the poor man LOL. I think those limitations have run out also and it will be getting painted! I’m glad you didn’t hesitate to paint yours! XOXO
Constance Colvin says
I love seeing your hauls Christy! And always look forward to seeing what potential you saw in all your finds!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Connie! I can usually imagine what I might do with some thing as soon as I see it at the thrift store, but sometimes I have no idea LOL. We’ll see where this all ends up! Enjoy your weekend! XOXO
Margie says
Ll the little box is ugly but will be cute when your done but……the clock after that box??? Just love to see you go through the haul. Stay safe.
Christy says
Aww thanks, Margie! I’m so glad you enjoy following along! I think that box is ugly ha ha, but it does have potential! The clock is a cutie. I’m looking forward to getting started on this haul! XOXO
Addie says
That was my grandpa!!! I am telling him you are going to paint that sewing table!!!…..lololol
Nice haul.
Christy says
Oh ha ha! No!!! Don’t tell! I’ve been holding onto the guilt of fibbing to him for far too long lol! XOXO
Susan says
Lol Christy!
The statute of limitations ran out as soon as you pulled away from his house! You scored some great stuff, can’t wait to see them all done up!
Christy says
Oh ha ha!! You are absolutely right about that, but why do I feel so guilty lol?! Thanks, Susan! XOXO
Kitsy Keel Smith says
You have some great pieces there. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.
Christy says
Thank you, Kitsy! XOXO
Rhonda Dunaway says
I’ve followed your blog for awhile, but this is the first time I’ve posted. No matter how bleak the world may seem lately, your posts always provide a lovely escape, as well as inspiration and practical advice. Whenever I feel the doldrums hit, I check out your blog, and the next thing I know, I’m either out on the hunt looking for cast offs that everyone else thinks are ugly but that have the potential your blog has taught me to see, or, I’m out in my garage completely lost in the flow of attempting to perform makeovers. My results run the gamut from amazing to “Let’s hurry up and hide this thing in the bottom of the trash can before anyone sees it.” But overall my projects are getting better and better because they are benefitting from your advice.
Thanks for all you do. Just wanted to make sure you know your blog offers so much more than just the how-to aspect of things.
Christy says
I LOVE this so much!! I am handling what this crazy world is throwing at us the very same way…getting lost in projects!! Thank you so much for sharing this, Rhonda, it means the world to me! Happy creating! XOXO
Rebecca says
You feel guilty over the sewing table because you have integrity! I would be feeling the same way you are. Love what you picked up; especially that little white pitcher and the dresser.
Christy says
Thank you, Rebecca! I have no guilt over the dresser since someone donated it lol! XOXO
Robin says
I am always amazed at what great buys you get. Love, love that dresser. California prices are way higher and lamps never sell (too much sun?)
Christy says
Thanks, Robin! We are very fortunate with our thrift stores here for sure! And isn’t it funny What different things sell in different places? XOXO
Chris Kelly says
Is it wrong when I go thrifting I look at things and think ‘what would Christy do with this?’ If you could see my basement there are at least 15 things that are exactly like what you picked up! Mine still don’t turn out as pretty as yours. But I’ll keep watching and learning – thank you for explaining things so well!
Christy says
Oh I love that, Chris ha ha! And thank you! I have had some practice, and I’m sure yours look great also…we are always our own worst critics! Keep it up! XOXO
Naush says
Hi Christy, can’t wait to see how you liven these pieces up. I love the white pitchers. We would love for you to join us for Meraki Link Party on Monday 24/August at http://www.doodlebuddies.net
Naush
Christy says
Thank you, Naush! XO
Carrie says
That sewing machine table was the first thing that caught my eye. I thought, “ohhh…I can’t wait to see what she does with that. It will be so cute when it’s painted.” Then I read what you said to the gentleman. What a conundrum. It would be so cute painted, and it’s not so cute as is. But I would struggle too if I had said I wouldn’t. Too bad you can’t go back to where he lives and get his blessing!!
Christy says
I know! I am going to paint it now since it has been about two years, and he has probably forgotten all about it by now, but I was feeling guilty lol! XOXO
