Fun Christmas Place Card Ideas

Amazing Friends, have I got a super fun place card holder idea for your Christmas table today! I shared this post back in 2014 and it still makes me chuckle!

Every year I host my family for Christmas Eve Dinner, and I always try to come up with a fun way to mark each person’s place at the table. My family always looks forward to seeing what I’ve come up with!

Are you ready?

Drumroll…I made us all Santa’s little helpers!

How fun is that? Just look at my Hubby in his cute little elf shorts! And look how thin I am! My babies are pretty darn cute too.

I found photos of everyone (Facebook was a huge help here) and printed them on cardstock. Then I just cut out their heads leaving their necks in tact…

To find elf bodies in abundance, I googled “elf costumes” and selected images and voila. I copied and pasted them all to a Word document and printed on cardstock as well.

  12. Just had our family get-together yesterday, and our Elf place-cards were a huge hit! I have to say, the project took many many hours…but the result was worth it. I wish I could post a photo here to show you the result. Everybody took their elf-self home with them….and a few of my Christmas ball bases also went missing…I’ve had those for over 10 years….so today I will be on the hunt for similar ones hopefully on sale. Thanks for sharing your creative ideas….I’m already thinking to try the ugly sweater idea for next year’s table!

    • That is awesome!! It can be quite time-consuming, but if you saved everyone’s photo on your computer, it should be easier next year as I found finding photos of everyone that would work to be the hardest part. It is so fun though! If you’d like to share a photo, feel free to email me directly at or send me a message on my Facebook page…I’d love to see! Thanks for sharing!! Happy New Year! XOXO
