Hello amazing friends and welcome back! I’ve got another piece from my Operation Redo Haul, which if you’ve been following along, is a group of items that have been hanging around my booth for way longer than I’d like! Today’s piece is a repurposed cabinet door.
It started as one of these four doors I redid about a year ago:
They were left over from some cabinets my dad used to build (like THIS ONE) back when he and my mom did craft markets. I was happy to take them off his hands! They all got their makeovers in THIS POST.
All of them sold except for this one, it looked like this:
I wasn’t sure why it hadn’t sold as I thought it was really cute, but guess what I discovered when I went to redo it?
I never added hanging hardware to the back to hang it! Oopsie! Something as simple as that could easily discourage someone from buying it since this would make the most sense if were to be hung rather than how I have it displayed above.
Oh well, it was getting a redo whether it liked it or not!
Repurposed Cabinet Door Redo #2
Redo #2 started with a good sanding to smooth out the letters and starfish as well as the dots I lined the outside with…
Then I gave it two coats of one of our new Silk colors, Morning Sunrise:
I just love this dusty purple!
See tips on how to paint with Silk Mineral Paint HERE.
Once that was completely dry, I decided to pull out what I had left from the Translucent Garden Transfer I used a couple months back.
If you recall, I had decided to try and save the hutch that was attached to this secretary desk back in December:
I used a mix of two Silk colors on this piece and embellished it with the Translucent Garden Transfer:
See more of that makeover HERE.
When I was done, I still had all of these pieces left:
I thought this transfer would pair nicely with the new Morning Sunrise color!
I used the enclosed burnishing tool to apply it to my door…
As you can see for that one, I did cut it into two pieces to make it easier to navigate that corner lip there.
Once I had all my pieces placed as I wanted, I sealed with Best Dang Wax in Clear and then added hooks!
The After
And I didn’t forget the hanging hardware this time!
The hooks I used came from Hobby Lobby just like this…
I’ll go back and hit those screws with some white paint.
I just love how whimsical this transfer is!
I had fun layering the pieces to create a look I liked…
I can even see this color on a piece of furniture. It’s such a sophisticated purple.
Two of the other doors I redid had knobs for hanging and were the first to sell, so I’m hoping that helps this one too!
Transfers are such an easy way to add a beautiful new look to just about anything!
See all the transfers I have in stock HERE!
I hope you enjoyed the whimsical new look this piece got today!
If you missed the original makeover of these four doors, you can see them all HERE!
That’s another redo of a redo complete!

Tuesday is Trash-to-Treasure Tuesday and since neither of the pieces I have left are that trashy, I’ll be sharing this spindle footboard instead!
UPDATE!! I can’t wait for you to see how I repurposed this piece! See it HERE now!!
Have a fantastic weekend!!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!

Holy smokes, gf, how on earth can you think of these things? That is absolutely striking!!! I love it nautical (well its awful the hooks weren’t put on it but at least you know it wasn’t due to that first make-over which was adorable and should have sold) but is it ever WOW now. Love it.
Christy says
Aww thank you so much, Michele!! I guess the first makeover wasn’t meant to be…hopefully this is the one! Have a great weekend! XOXO

Stunning new look, that will sell fast I’m sure! The transfers look amazing against the purple. The hooks are a great idea, too. You’ll have to let us know how the do overs sell 🙂
Christy says
Thank you so much, Carroll! I sure will…I’ll be sure to post an update once everything has sold! XOXO
Shirley Bradfield says
What a beautiful idea!!
I would like to do something like that for a place to hang my dog’s harness, collars, leashes, etc. and wonder if there is a way to transfer a picture of my dog onto the cabinet door with little doggie feet accents or doggie type transfers. Then put some cute hangers on to hang these items.
Would love any cute ideas you’ve done with animal accents. You are such an inspiration!!
Thank-you!!
Shirley B.
Christy says
Thank you, Shirley! This would be perfect for all the pup’s things! Mod Podge makes a photo transfer gel you could use to add a photo of your dog. I also think dog prints going across the surface would be super cute…even better if your was a good sport and would let you add a little paint to their paws to make them! XOXO
Joanne H. says
Pretty! Love the color and the transfers. You’ll have to let us know when it sells. Can’t imagine it won’t.
Christy says
Thank you, Joanne! I sure will! XOXO

Christy says
Thank you, Cyndi! I love this color too and I agree…it is almost a neutral! XOXO
