Hello awesome friends!! I’ve got a quick makeover for ya’ll today! I was given this mirror by my sweet reader friend, Dianne, who lives locally:
I believe she had purchased a dresser to redo that came with this mirror, but did not have a use for the mirror. So, she reached out to me to see if I was interested in it doing something with it. I liked the curves and decided to go pick it up! I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
I’m so glad I did because it ended up being a pretty simple makeover!
I used them to cheat the distressing:
You can see in more details how I did that on another mirror HERE.
I just made my block by attaching a wooden knob to a block of wood using wood glue, but you can find one on Amazon HERE also. They were sold out but are back in stock!
This is a great way to get a shabby look, especially when you have a lighter background and you want it show through darker.
If you don’t like how it looks in areas, while the paint is still wet, simply wipe it off with a very damp cloth and try again!
The only thing that was a bit odd about this mirror was the fact that the bottom almost looked like someone had chopped it off. I don’t think anyone did; it just looked weird to me.
Also, the bottom had absorbed moisture at one point and because it is pressboard, it soaked it right up along that bottom edge:
I didn’t have any trim on hand when I was ready to get started on this mirror, so I went ahead and started painting, but I was able to swing by Home Depot and pick up some trim the next day.
I cut it to fit with my miter saw and attached it with E6000 glue:
It really made a difference in how the bottom looked and it hid the damage the moisture had caused.
After attaching and painting the trim, I decided that the top area of this mirror could use a little something.
I thought it would be an ideal spot for a small transfer. I used one of the transfers from a sheet of mini transfers (called Classic Vintage Labels by Re-designed by Prima):
You can still find this set of mini transfers on Etsy if you search the name.
Just enough embellishment!
This mirror is quite large so it would be great with a longer dresser also!
Thanks again for thinking of me, Dianne!
One more down woot woot!! You can barely see this mirror at the very back in the center:
If you missed any or want to revisit any of these pieces, you can find them here:
All that’s left is a bench and a set of trays, oh and a tiny angel figurine I almost forgot about!
I’ll be back with the bench on Thursday!
Until then, stay safe, stay well, and treat others with kindness.
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!
