Hello lovely Friends! Christmas is less than a week away now and I know you are busy, so thanks for stopping by!
I have a quickie makeover to share with y’all today. If you follow me on my Facebook Page, you may have seen me thrifting when I was supposed to be Christmas shopping he he.
I found this super cute lamp marked down to 99¢:
And yes, that table was a mere 99¢ as well, so of course I brought that home too! I had to ask, sure that it was a mistake, but nope!
I always keep an eye out for small lamps ever since my good friend Shanna from Restoration Redoux sent me this pineapple one that I turned into a mini message board. I decided to do the same with this one:
I loved the glass piece in it.
In the before photo, you’ll notice that someone had cut off the cord.
After stopping by my booth this weekend, I quickly realized that I needed to add a few smalls as I was stripped pretty clean of smaller gifty items. That made the decision to make this another little memo board easy!
To do this I took the lamp apart. Those pieces all unscrew from one another…
See the threaded piece at the top of the lamp? That will screw right into the frame I found to use as the memo board (a 45¢ thrift store find)…
I used a 3/8 inch drill bit to drill a hole on the bottom. I painted all the parts and added a piece of chalkboard to the frame before screwing it into the base. (See how I make my chalkboards HERE.)
Sometimes the threaded piece is just a tad too short, but often I am able to adjust it up a bit by unscrewing it some.
I thought this tree was so cute in this unique basket, both are thrift store finds…
Here are a few more lamps I turned into memo boards this Summer…
And all ready for the shop:
These would make really cute Christmas gifts!
Perfect here on my mini island in the kitchen:
Well my amazing Friends, I hope you enjoyed this simple DIY project. I’m signing off until after the big day. I’ve got a sick babe at home and lots of baking to do. May you and yours enjoy a blessed Christmas!
I’m looking forward to a fun new year together! 🙂
Love,
Don’t Miss a Thing!

I have got to learn how to make these!! They would make great Christmas gifts. All I’m giving this year are home made things. I’ve done 3 trays so far and will finish another one tomorrow to give to family & Friends. This would be cute too!!
Thanks for sharing! I’d love the instructions on how you did them!
Mary
Christy says
Yes they would! I love gifts that are hand made. I tried to explain how I made it the best I could in this post, and I also included a link for how I made the chalkboard, but here is another one I made very similarly that might be easier to understand: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/lamp-to-memo-chalkboard/ Hope this helps! Merry Christmas! XO
