Happy New Year, AMAZING friends!! Wow can you believe 2019 is here already?
I truly missed y’all last week, but it was nice to unplug and just be present for the holidays. I am refreshed and SO ready to see what we can get into in this brand new year ahead!
But first, I’d love to share what your favorite posts were this year! With over 100 new posts in 2018, there are a lot of projects that you may have forgotten about or missed altogether!
Remember these??
Today I’m going to count down your 12 favorite furniture makeovers, and then I’ll be back on Thursday with your favorite non-furniture projects! I always enjoy looking back and I hope you do too!
Enjoy!
12
Starting this countdown off at number 12 is this $25 thrift store dresser that had definitely seen better days:
You know I love a challenge and as you know, paint has magical powers…
I loved the knobs on this one:
And the drawers got this pretty fabric lining:
See more details of this makeover HERE.
11
Coming in at number 11 is this $60 Habitat Restore dresser I shared in November:
It wasn’t fully functioning when I found it, but a few easy fixes and a new paint job is all it needed:
I gave this one a whitewash treatment for a coastal feel:
Revisit this pretty dresser HERE.
10
Next up is this headboard bench I bought at a craft market several years ago:
Ya’ll really liked the dark new look of this one:
I don’t usually use black, but I do love the sophistication it adds to the simplest of pieces.
See more of this makeover HERE.
9
At number nine is this dated little rocker I picked up for $5 at the thrift store:
New fabric and fun graphics were just the update it needed!
This sold almost right away!

This next makeover is one of my favorites! It started out as this dresser I found at the thrift store for $75:
I almost missed the potential in this one at first.
All those drawers made it the perfect storage piece for my office…
I swapped out the hardware on just the top two drawers to change up the look and painted the rest of the originals. I love the mix…
These beautiful details were hard to see in its before state:

7
Up next in the countdown is this ho-hum headboard I picked up for $10 at a yard sale:
I love turning headboards into benches, and this one turned out prettier than I thought it would:
A wooden appliqué added to the back gave this bench the touch of pretty it needed.
See how I created this bench from a headboard HERE.

Hutches are great sellers for me, so I always keep an eye out for them. This was a the top of my limit at $99:
It was beautifully crafted though, and in great condition. I actually loved the glass door inserts, but they gave it a bit of a dated feel.
Bead board saved the day here:
Now this piece offers great closed storage, or the doors can be left open to show what is displayed inside:
And the top got a coastal-inspired whitewash treatment:

This next makeover is one I really was tempted to keep:
I bought this off of our old neighbor for $100. It had split all across the top, so that made it easier to paint…
I never tire of a simple white makeover, and it seems y’all enjoy them too!
And I never tire of beautiful classic glass knobs either.

4
This next makeover was a favorite of mine as well. At number four is this hutch I picked up for a steal at $60:
This one got my favorite blue…
And the addition of a couple of sweet stencils on the doors:
Revisit this pretty hutch HERE.
3
In the number three spot is this TV cabinet makeover I reshared just before the holidays:
Stripes and stencils turned this outdated piece around for sure:
And swapping out the old TV cabinet innards for shelving made it functional once again!
See more of how I transformed this cabinet HERE.
2
Your second most favorite furniture makeover of the past year was this $30 dressing table I scored at the thrift store:
I couldn’t grab the tag on it fast enough!
The veneer was so pretty that I just didn’t have the heart to paint over all of it…
So I kept the drawers as is and refinished the beautiful top:
I also painted this chair to match:
The whole piece feels so much lighter visually.

And your number one favorite furniture makeover I shared in 2018…drumroll please…
Our kitchen island!
It started out like this:
And became this…
It really makes a statement in our new and improved kitchen!
See all the details of how I beefed up our island and added bead board HERE. (You can see more of our kitchen makeover HERE!)
I hope y’all enjoyed this look back with me! Any favorites?
Wishing you all a year full of joy and memorable moments!
Meet me back here Thursday to see what non-furniture makeovers made the top 12…here’s a hint:

I love all of your furniture makeovers. You are very talented. I sure wish I had a good thrift store like you do!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Meloney! We are lucky to have several thrift stores to choose from here and the heavy military population that is consistently moving in and out of the area helps keep them in business!

Ambreen Sajjad says
I loved all the ideas and pieces you have mentioned here, but personally I liked the dated little rocker that you picked in just $5. I am amazed that there are still such kinds of promising pieces which can be grabbed at such cost effective rates. By adding these traditional items you can simply enhance the look of your homes and I think this piece is one of those amazing interiors that can even raise the price of your home.
Christy says
Thank you, Ambreen! That was one of my favorites too! XO
