Hello, lovelies, and thank you for all the birthday wishes!! It was a wonderful birthday! If you missed my giveaway, I’ll link to it at the bottom! I have a random post today that’s kind of like a Painting the Smalls, but not exactly. I’m sharing seven quick flips for my booth!
None of these items are part of my haul. They are seven random pieces that have been taking up room in my workspace. I’ve just been moving them from place to place to get them out of the way.
Here are most of them:
I picked them up for my booth as fillers. I often do that with wall art. They were never intended for sharing here, but I knew they would benefit from just a tweak or two. So why not redo them, get them out of my way, and share them with you?
Quick Flip #1
Let’s start with the largest picture. This was $9.99 at the Goodwill:
I really liked it as is and was just going to stick it in my booth. Except, upon taking a closer look, the frame was pretty beat up:
I have a few pieces of black furniture in my booth, so I figured why not paint it to match them? I taped off the frame and gave it two coats of Caviar, Dixie Belle’s blackest black:
To seal, I covered the glass part as well and gave it a good spray with Rustoleum Clear Satin Spray:
This is just easier as applying a sealer like my go-to Clear Coat with a brush or sponge would likely end up pooling in the details.
And here is how it looks now:
A little more dramatic than before but I like it!
Super simple! The before of that frame looks great in the photo, but it didn’t look nearly as good in person.
Quick Flip #2
Next up is this lamp that has been in my stash for ages:
I I’ve had it so long that I have no idea what I paid for it. I originally bought it because I liked the glass piece in it and had planned to turn it into a chalkboard stand like these HERE. However, I’ve sold all the lamps in my booth, except for one, so I was looking for a couple of quick lamp makeovers to add some light to my booth, and so this one will stay a lamp!
After giving it a quick cleaning, I taped off the glass parts I didn’t want painted and chose this Vintage Duck Egg Blue and Fluff mix:
I use this mix a lot because it sells well for me.
It got two coats, and once the second coat was dry, I sealed it with Best Dang Wax in white, letting the wax nestle in all the details. Wax is a sealer also so this makeover was complete!
Much cuter!
I found the shade in my stash and didn’t realize it was also a thrift store find until I went to take photos:
I always keep my eyes out for decent shades!

Quick Flip #3
How about this ceramic rooster I picked up for $9.99:
There are lots of rooster lovers out there, so I planned to just stick this in my booth as is, except I realized when I got it home and started cleaning it, that it had a chip out of it’s comb on top:
Did you know that was called a comb? I had to look it up lol. I tried to seal it with gloss sealer, but that didn’t work, so I knew I had to paint it.
Because it was a nonporous surface, I started with a coat of Bonding BOSS in white:
I let that sit in the sun most of the day which speeds up the drying process and then while I had my custom Duck Egg/Fluff mix out, I hit this with it as well, followed by Best Dang Wax in white once again:
I applied it with my La Petite brush. Any of the natural bristle brushes are great for applying wax, depending on the size you need. This one is a good size but also has a pointy tip.
After applying with that brush, I buffed away any excess with a clean cloth, leaving some in the details on this piece as well.
Have you ever seen a Duck Egg blue rooster??
Why not? White was the obvious choice, but I thought I’d go with the blue since it was already white!
Plus, I already had everything out. I’m not sure about this one, but we’ll see if it sells. It definitely camouflaged the chip on the top!
Quick Flip #4
The next makeover started out as this lamp that also been hanging around my garage fore ages! It was only a dollar at a yard sale:
I decided to match it with another thrift store shade I just picked up for $3.99:
It was just a plain shade, but I had a couple of Salon de Diane transfer pieces left from this tiered tray made from silver plated pieces that I shared recently and one piece was perfect for the shade!
It might be cute on a bedside table in guest room…
Adding a transfer does so much for a plain shade!
Quick Flip #5
This set of pictures were a fantastic find at a yard sale in my neighborhood. She was asking $15 for the set, but I offered $10, and we settled on $12:
I just loved them and once again figured they could go straight into my booth. However, I decided to lighten up the frames with a couple of coats of Fluff:
I taped off the entire picture so I wouldn’t get flecks of paint on the prints since there was no glass here, and also so that I could just spray the frames to seal. I did that after a light sanding all over.

Quick Flip #6
Next up is another picture that I recently picked up, this one for $6.99:
I loved the art but not the frame. Plus, it was damaged on the corners:
After getting a good cleaning, I taped this one off and gave it the same Duck Egg/Fluff color I used earlier:
This one had no backing; the picture was just taped in place with packing tape on the back, so it was easy enough to remove.
I sanded lightly all over and sealed it with the same Rustoleum Clear Satin spray. (I would never use that on furniture, but for the smaller pieces like frames and lamps, it’s a great way to get a quick seal on there.)
Here is how this one turned out:
So much better, right?
I sanded just a bit to weather it some:
This one will fit right in in my booth!
Quick Flip #7
And finally, I stopped in at the thrift store late last week and found another small lamp, a cute hobnail glass lamp and a brand new shade:
That shade is the shade I added roses to earlier and the small blue lamp will probably stay at my house. The other lamp was $6.99 and was heading to my booth!
But wait! How can we make it just a little cuter??
How about with this transfer on the shade?
And here it is!
Hello, little lamp!
This would be perfect in a bathroom or on a kitchen counter for a little ambient lighting!
And the glass base would be so easy to clean…
And that’s all it needed!
And that’s seven quick flips for my booth!

You did the right thing re doing the items! I love how everything turned out. I love your rooster in blue, he is so adorable now! My favorite item is the last little lamp with the transfer on the shade. If I lived closer it would be in my home! None of the items will last long in your booth!

It’s possible they would have sold as is, but I think they look way better now. The two boat prints are my favorites. Not sure about the blue rooster, haha, but you are in a coastal area so it might sell fast. You will have to let us know!

Thank you for doing a post on quick flips. I have waaaaaayyyy too many pieces of wall art waiting for slight rehab and this is a nice nudge. Lamps have not done well for me so going to redo my efforts on them now also.

Oh WOW, so many fantastic makeovers! If had to choose, I’d pick the first lamp with the glass & duck egg/fluff paint. Absolutely lovely! The petite lamp is also beautiful… all the lamps are! The huge picture frame set turned out so great. Really loved today’s makeovers!

I love your treasures, Christy. That rooster is really unique, and I bet it will sell. Here in the Midwest, it’s not likely that people will buy an aqua rooster, but then you never know -things that you think will sell, don’t, and vise-versa. You know that drill. I love the rest of the things, so I can’t pick a favorite. Question: why don’t you use clear spray on furniture? Have a cheery weekend.

Thank you, Caye! I hope so…you are so right though. I am often surprised at what sells quickly! I don’t use spray sealer on larger surfaces in general because it is very difficult to get an even coat, and then you run the risk of drips on vertical surfaces. XOXO

I wanted to thank you for sponsoring the great giveaway. And… I have a question, TBH I can’t really afford to buy bonding boss in every color. I don’t do a huge amount of painting and makeovers because I just do things for myself. So all that being said… I need bonding boss for a couple of small silver trays and I don’t know what the best color would be. I use different paint colors some light, some darker. I’m guessing clear, but I don’t know. Thanks! xoxo

I’m so glad you enjoyed this bunch, Jackie, thank you! I almost didn’t share them because they didn’t need much at all. I spent about four hours in my booth today restocking paints and transfers ets that I had sold, setting up the new holiday items, and reorganizing to accomadate these pieces as well as the large piece I did with the birds on the doors, so it does take some time to maintain, but just about three days a month. As for the Bonding BOSS, I would go with the clear. That is the most versatile one. XOXO

The large pretty flower print – was pretty – but droopy. Amazing how painting the frame did sooo much to make it pop ! Love it.
You DO find a lot of unique lamps. Kinda sad when you get them – but amazing how special they look when you are done.
The textured lean glass lamp is my fav. The textured shade was a great pick for it – but the transfer made it so soft and sweet. 🙂
I think you made a great choice to refresh All these pieces. They have a new fresh life now. Even the rooster ! My midwest mom collected roosters – so I’ve seen LOTS of them. Being coastal – the blue is a win.
The cotton made them pop. A question: I’m working with taupe as my bedroom neutral. Which DB taupe color do you see with white wax ? And if the taupe needs to be lightened a bit, would you use cotton or …?

Thanks so much, P! I’m glad I refreshed them too! Now they fit in better in my shop! I too love how that large floral print looked after. The glass lamps were great because I didn’t have to do a thing to the bases! My mom loves roosters too, but not blue ha ha. We’ll see how he goes. As for a taupe, look at Driftwood and French Linen and see what you think. (The striped buffet lamps I recently reshared were done in Driftwood.) Driftwood leans a bit cooler while French Linen is a bit warmer. I prefer them both lightened up a bit. You can use either Cotton or Fluff. They will both work. I hope that helps! XOXO
