Hello, lovelies! We’re going on a field trip to my booth today! If you are new around here, I have a booth in the Virginia Beach Antique Mall here in Virginia Beach where I sell all the pieces I make over. I also carry the entire line of Dixie Belle paint products as well as Redesign transfers, moulds, stencils, and decoupage papers!
I started with two spaces in the small room where my booth is eleven years ago, and I finally acquired the remaining three spaces! I had just expanded into the final space when I last shared my booth back in March of this year.
This was the main view from the door when we last saw it:

To the right is my paint wall:

And to the left is the final booth I acquired that looked like this…

Before transforming it into my transfer wall:

(I still needed to add another shelf at the top and move my Redesign signage as well.)
I’ll take you clockwise around the room. Now that I have such a large space, I need to figure how to best share it lol.
Just the right of the transfer wall is this area with this sweet bookcase and charming rocker:

That’s how it looked last time, and I then added a few more things, including the bunny art and that Cottage Door box:

Everything in that area has since sold except that green basket and the side table on the right.
Just beyond that is the Antebellum Dresser and Matching Mirror:

Here we are back at the front to see how the back wall looked from the door:

I wasn’t loving how the back was looking, so I changed it up a bit. I moved that Loius chair next to the Vigorous Violet dresser, so this is what was seen looking from the front instead:

Much better!

And to the right of that, I collected the blue items together:

And following around on the right next to that area is my paint wall once again from this angle:

And then we’ll call this the fireplace corner in the front, right just as you come in the door:

The area in the center at the front was looking kind of picked over:

That small glass door cabinet sold, and I brought more items in…

A few of those items sold, and I brought in this bench, lamp and large basket to add to the mix:

Then I decided to move the black Vigorous Violet dresser to this area to change things up…

And it sold woohoo! So I moved these items to that spot, but that oval pedestal table wouldn’t last long:

I also moved the antebellum dresser to the back wall which you can see in the background, and this little table and chairs set came in:

Beyond that on the right is where I moved the Magnolia dresser:

(That lamp just sold yesterday, so I know where the lamp I just redid in Tuesday’s smalls post is going!)
And the opposite corner got all the blue…

That lamp sold almost right away.
Then the antebellum dresser sold (without the mirror) and this small dresser that I redid the bottom on came in:

Then the black oval pedestal table that had been up front sold, and this gorgeous armoire I had the pleasure of redoing came in:

And to the area where the Froggy Meadows bookcase, bunny rocker, etc had been, came this french beauty since most of those items had sold:

That little green and white plant stand sold right away.
And then the black dresser I had just brought in sold also!

So this chair moved to that spot on the back wall:

And where the chair had been, I moved this dressing table set that was still hanging around:

(You can see I moved the black items that had been up front to that back, left corner.)
That dressing table set finally sold not long after I moved it here, and I just brought in this gorgeous gal to put in its place:

This might be my favorite piece I’ve ever done!

The huge french chair along the back wall sold also, and look what I bought in last week to put in its place:

The black and pink secretary! It pairs so nicely with this chair, doesn’t it?

This little set is still here and my customers have been having fun with the chalk board since I left some chalk there…

At least they’re sweet! I think it might be fun to add a large chalk board they can all doodle on!
And into that back, left corner came this blue bench I shared recently:

That enjoy picnic basket has been in my booth for several years! It used to live above my paint wall shelves, but I haven’t had any takers since I brought it down.
I shared it in the same post where I included my video tutorial for turning sweater sleeves into mini pumpkins:

See that makeover and sweater pumpkin tutorial HERE!
And here is the front, left corner just as you come in the door. I hadn’t done much with it, and the last time we visited, it looked like this:

I was sharing the shutters I had added in that photo. That huge window had sold and I was waiting for that to get picked up. When it finally did, I could play with that area more.
I made my sister go out in the freezing cold with me when she was visiting in April to find a branch I could put in this corner, and we found one!
This area looks much better now!

Except, since that photo, the coastal lamps and the bead board shelf have sold, so I need to replace those.
I love that I have several smaller areas to create vignettes in my booth now!
And you can barely see the branches peeking out here…

You can see I also moved the Redesign sign and added another shelf above that area to balance it out.
In the fireplace corner, I recently added this simple drop leaf side table, joined by the piano bench I redid:

And that is about how my booth is looking these days!

I’m still not loving the floors, but it’s an old building, so that is just part of it. I may purchase another of these rugs to hide more of it.
I have always loved the white painted rafters though!

And I won’t be too disappointed if this sweet piece takes a while to sell because it looks so pretty in my booth!

I don’t talk about all the smalls that come and go, but you can follow each photo to see what’s missing. They really add up, so I try to have a bunch in my booth!
I’m working on this set for Tuesday to replace the coastal ones that sold, so I’ll be back with those then!

UPDATE: You won’t believe how fresh and updated these lamps look now! See them HERE!

Wowza, that is a whole lot of work keeping it looking so beautiful and fresh! I love your booth and how it is so bright and fresh! I really wish I could visit it in person, but you do a great job of capturing how it is laid out, it almost feels like I am there! I love the branch addition, and the fact that you made your sister go out in the cold to get it. LOL! You are so talented and amazing!
Christy says
Thank you so much, my sweet friend! I wish you could visit also! I say that I made my sister, but she was a very willing participant lol. And the branches look even cozier in person than they do in photos. Have an amazing weekend, my friend! XOXO.
Cheryl Ware says
Wow! My head is spinning with so much coming & going! It’s so fun to take your booth field trips. I can so visualize being there…and the vignettes are so charming! Wish I lived closer than 2400 miles away! LOL. Thanks for sharing, Christy! 🙂
Cheryl
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cheryl! Yes, you are really far away lol. I’m glad you were able to visualize being there though! XOXO.
Christine says
I love your projects, been following you for years! How long is too long, for a piece that doesn’t sell? I’m sure it isn’t often, but when do you decide to redo it?
Christy says
Thank you so much, Christine! I truly appreciate you following along with me! If I really like how a piece turned out, I will let it sit for forever until it sells. Sometimes, if it’s quite detailed, it just takes the right buyer to come along. However, I did have a whole group of items that I finally pulled from my booth that hadn’t been selling and redid them a few years back. I shared them here if you want to see them: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/six-take-two-makeovers-operation-redo-haul/ You may have seen them already! I don’t recall how long each of them have been in my booth, but long enough that I figure they need a redo. Plus, I wasn’t really in love with the original makeovers! XOXO
Janice Redden says
Christy, I could spend a lot of time…and moola…in your shop! It’s beautiful and so well curated. You’re lucky to have that much space; It’s great to get items sold so quickly but when they sell right away after re-staging, it presents a problem – a good problem. – right? It is lovely and I bet the pink dresser sells right away.
Christy says
Aww thank you, my friend! I love playing and rearranging in there. But yes, when I see that something has sold, especially after I’ve just rearranged, it’s the old yay! and then oh no! feeling lol. Of course I want to sell things as that is the goal, but I want it to look pretty too lol! XOXO
Denise says
Christy! How gorgeous everything is!! I think now instead of calling it a booth, it has become a posh boutique. You have really expanded and your items are so unique and truly beautiful. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us such an amazing tour. And also thank you for publishing your informative emails each week that demonstrates such wonderful ideas. Take good care. Denise
Christy says
I appreciate that so much, Denise, thank you! Ooh I should start titling these filed trips as My Posh Boutique update lol! Honestly, though, it really does feel like I have my own little store! And I am so glad you enjoy what I share each week! XOXO
Donna Marie says
I wish I lived closer, as I would snatch some of your items!!!
Christy says
Ooh I wish you lived closer too, Donna! Ha ha thank you!! XOXO
Karen says
Excuse me if I missed this, but do you have any before and afters for old lampshades as you customize the old lamp makeovers? Any tips would be appreciated! Thank you, in advance.
Christy says
Hi Karen! If you check out my latest lamp makeover round up, you can see that I updated them with transfers, with paint, and at the very end, by replacing the fabric on the shades: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/12-thrifty-lamp-makeovers/ I hope that helps! XOXO
Geri Davis says
Oh Christy,
Thanks for the tour! I just love your booth as I can see so do many others! I’m happy for you that your refinished “gems” sell quickly for you, they are all so beautiful.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Geri! My rent has gone up quite a bit since the expansion, so I’m happy to see Things selling as well lol! Have a great weekend! XOXO
Jackie C says
floors? Oh yeah, floors there are floors there. Lol who notices the floors when there are so many treasures in that booth. If I lived near your booth. I’d have to buy another house to put all the beautiful things in. Seriously though it would be so hard not to go overboard there. And yes, I agree that pink chest is gorgeous. I love it so much. I’m really kind of shocked the shelf you made from the mirror harp is still there. your booth is truly outstanding. And the knack you have for arranging and accessorizing is quite a talent. That was fun. Thanks for sharing.
Christy says
Yeah, I’m afraid I’m stuck with the floors, but thank you, my friend! I don’t really notice them so much when I walk into the space, but when I look back in photos, I can’t unsee them ha ha. I am surprised that shelf hasn’t sold as well. I have never moved it from that space because I had to screw two screws into the shutters to hang it, and I rarely bring my drill with me so I haven’t been able to move it. I’m sure once I move it, it will sell. Thanks again, my friend! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! XOXO
Cecilia says
Wow, it’s awesome you’ve sold so many pieces. I love how you move things around to keep it all fresh. It’s looking good. It would be so fun to browse in. (I love the branch you added! ????).
-Cecilia
Christy says
Thanks so much, Cecilia! I do love to move things around, and that really helps with sales, I think. The branch really cozies up that corner, right? Hope you havee a lovely weekend, my friend! XOXO.
Cyndi says
Oh, wow! It looks so good! But I hadn’t thought about how much work you have to put into it rearranging all those things in that big space as items sell. My goodness! Well, you are doing a great job at it!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cyndi! While I don’t love having to haul those big items to my booth, I really do enjoy the rearranging part! And it can be a lot of work, but it is fun too! XOXO
Lorri says
Wow!!! You are amazing…. When do you have time to sleep?? I àlways love it when we see your booth. If I lived near you I would be there all the time. Your supply of DB products and Resign transfers is huge…People who come to your booth are so lucky, such selection. Shows you love what you are doing by always rearranging your product. Thank you for your tour…❤
Christy says
I’m sleeping as I’m writing this lol. J/K! Thank you, my friend! I’m so glad you enjoy the tours. It would be awesome if you lived closer and could visit! And I do try to have everything people need as far as products, when they stop by…got to keep them happy so they keep coming, right? Ha ha! Enjoy your weekend! XOXO
Kate says
Just beautiful! FYI…that pumpkin video was my first time I found you:) I made my own version and just keep watching ya!
Christy says
Thank you, Kate! And I love that…thank you so much for following along with me!! XOXO
Mary C King says

Estelle Mead says
Wow what a space! You sure move a lot of furniture!
Christy says

Just fabulous Christy – all your painting work (fun!) really pays off with your new, larger space. Everything so well displayed and customer friendly…….what a delightful field trip today. Continued Best of Luck with your business! I have loved your blog for several years now and it is the first email I check out every Tuesday and Thursday!

Kimmylouwho says
I really love these booth updates! I think you must have the prettiest booth at the mall! And people have bought some gorgeous, unique items for their homes. Congrats on having a wonderful business!
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoy them, Kimmylouwho! And thank you!! My room is definitely a stark contrast to the rest of the antique mall lol! XOXO
Rhonda says
It’s always fun to see your booth. You do a great job styling- very pleasing to the eye.
I enjoy seeing what sells. Thanks for sharing your talent. I look forward to your posts☺️
Christy says
I appreciate that so much, Rhonda, thank you! It is fun for me to look back at what has come and gone as well! XOXO
Nana Diana says
The booth looks great! You have done lots of work in there and I hope you sell tons of stuff~. Hugs- Diana
Christy says
Thank you, Diana! I appreciate that! XOXO
Sandra W Magle says
Wow, that was some moving and schlepping around that you need to do. You are so smart to have all those vignette spaces to fill and keeping a color theme is definitely the way to go. My 45 years of doing art shows…I used to call myself the queen of the 10×10 space. Trying to maximize sales as well as make a space easy to shop is such a skill. It blew my mind when I finally had 700 square feet to play in with so many spaces for displays. Great job, I always look forward to your shop flipping blogs! Sandi
Christy says
Thanks so much, Sandra! I really appreciate that coming from a pro! It is so nice to have the room to play! XOXO
Deborah Mealus says
I always have loved your booth and the way you stage it! You are so talented! Also, thank you again for your amazing customer service and taking care of my order!!
Christy says
Aww thank you, Deborah! And you are so welcome! XOXO
p says
Wow. Constant transitioning ! I guess you really Need to keep so busy creating just to keep the booth filled 🙂
The black / pink secretary and chair should sell fast – so gorgeous.
Apparently everyone loves your smalls !!
I lOVE the lamp on your magnolia dresser. The shade transfer looks amazing.
I really envy all your energy – and your never ending creativity.
I feel lucky that I found your site 🙂
Christy says
Aww that is such a nice thing to say, P! I am so lucky you found me too! There are always things coming and going. And yes, my blog feeds my booth and my booth feeds my blog…win-win! Thank you! XOXO
p says
p.s.
I Always love your booth tours 🙂

Michele M. says
Good gracious, girl – that’s some great sales news. I enjoy knowing you seldom “sit” on items too long! Gotta make room for your newly remade items! Loving the extra space and knowing your thought process behind your items. Well done, Christy.
Christy says
Thank you, Michele! I do still have a few stragglers, but for the most part, things move pretty well! XOXO
Caye says
Oh, it looks so nice! I think about all the time you spend just moving things around to fit here and there. It’s wonderful that you were able to get those three extra spaces! When things sell and you’re not there, who completes the sale?
Christy says
Thanks so much, Caye! I am thrilled to have the extra spaces! All of my pieces have my booth number on them, and so customers just take what they want to purchase to the front counter and pay there. It’s like having my own store without having to handle all that! XOXO
Sue Carole McCombs says
I enjoyed the tour. Thank you for sharing. Sp many lovely items in your shop.
Christy says
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Sue, thank you! XOXO
Tia Trevallion says
I am a huge believer in the saying, “Presentation is everything”, and your booth is proof of that. You do an excellent job of grouping and displaying your items. Most booths in Antique Malls grow stagnant and never seem to change over the months and years. Your efforts clearly pay off as is evident through your many customer sales.
I belong to some Facebook furniture flip groups and often see sellers frustrated over their inability to sell an item. Some of them are obvious ???????? but some I wonder if it is the price. One day, when time permits, I have a dream of flipping pieces (and have amassed quite a few projects ????♀️), but I am clueless as to the price point for the Hampton Roads area. Would you consider including your asking prices in your articles showing your flips to help clueless people like me?
Christy says
Aww thank you, Tia! It is fun to stage when I have new items to add to the mix! And as for pricing, I have you covered…here ya go: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/how-to-price-items-for-resale/ And at the end of that post, there is a link to pricing the smaller items. I hope that helps! XOXO
Tia Trevallion says
Thank you so much! You have inspired me enough to make me dangerous…to the limited garage space I have left for “gonna do” projects!????
Christy says
You’re welcome! And I LOVE that ha ha!! I meant to respond to the stagnant antique mall booths comment in me first reply and totally forgot, but yes!! That drives me crazy! I walk by the same dusty booths every time I go to our mall lol, and I think…that would sell if I painted that! Happy creating!! XOXO
Betty Sue says
Wow! You give me such inspiration!!! My smalls keep me in business!!! I love following you and it helps me to stay motivated!!! Thanks so much!! ❤️
Christy says
Aww I love that so much, Betty Sue, thank you! Y’all inspire me to keep at it with your kind words! And yes…the smalls can really add up! XOXO
Addie says
WOW!!!! All looks fantastic…..a lot of work but creative work is fun to do as well very rewording. You do a very nice job without slacking on the details…keep up the good work!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Addie! XOXO
Cindy Thigpen says
Could you tell me what a good price is to rent a stall?
Christy says
That really depends on the area, the location, etc. I’m not an expert in any way, but I pay $2 a square foot plus 10% commission and 5% credit card fees. I hope that helps a bit! XOXO
Kathy W says
Hi Christy – I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all your booth tours. Everything looks so beautiful and staged to perfection!! It does make me a little sad, though, that we did not make it to VA Beach while we were in town. I have already reminded my hubby (a few hundred times) that we are going to make it next year. Thanks for all of your inspiration and sharing your lovely makeovers and beautiful booth!!!!!!
Kathy W
Christy says
Hi Kathy! Thank you so much! Hopefully, you will make it next time!! XOXO
Leslie L Mack says
You do such an amazing job when you reupholster chairs. Your work is beautiful.
Christy says
Aww thank you, Leslie!! XOXO
Susan Ross Hill says
Oh that was fun!!!! tyty
Christy says
I’m glad you enjoyed the field trip, Susan! XOXO
TE says
I’m curious about how you hang shelves etc from your louvre doors?
❤️❤️❤️ what you do
Christy says
Hi thank you! I actually use large paperclips opened up to make S hooks for hanging most things. For heavier items, I will either use screws in the solid parts of the doors or double up the hooks. It has worked wonderfully for over a decade ha ha! XOXO
