Who’s up for a field trip to my booth today?? Sweet friends, I’m sharing an update of my Antique Mall booth space as well as some exciting news! My booth is located in the Virginia Beach Antique Mall here in Virginia Beach, and I’ve been there since 2014.
It is actually mostly antiques as the name implies, but there are a few of us that sell reimagined items as well. It is a huge building with tons of vendors to visit!
Two to three times a year, I like to share updates by talking about the larger pieces that have come and gone in my space. The last booth update was back in September, and you can see that HERE.
If you’ve been with me a bit, you know that last year, I acquired two more adjoining spaces to create one huge space!
Here is where we left off. I am located in a small room that was once likely an office, and this is the view from the door:

My paint wall is that whole right side now:

I share this space with one other person, one of my actual neighbors, whom I love.
She is just to the left as you come in the door:

And then beyond her booth on the left is my Redesign with Prima area:

My Exciting News
My exciting news is that my friend is moving her booth to a new location at the end of the month, and I will have the entire room!!
WOOHOOOOOOOOOO!
I will say that I am sad my friend is leaving, but her space does hide my Redesign wall, so for that reason only, I will be happy to be able to spread it out along that wall now.
I wish her all the success in her new space! (I really will miss you though, Nichole!)
Let’s get to the tour!
So when we left off, I had just moved that first folding game table I redid to that spot up front…

That seems to be the magic spot because everything I put there sells!
The first things to go were the blue basket and the framed art I made from decoupage paper, but the table followed soon after.
Y’all may remember from my last booth post that I was contemplating painting this Smoky Mountains dresser that was along the back wall, black:

I liked it as is, but it had been sitting for a bit and I was afraid it was just too difficult to match to someone’s existing space.
Most of you agreed, but someone suggested that I not paint it and move it instead which I did…to the sweet spot ha ha:

That cute lamp was a quickie redo that I never shared. I found the shade at the thrift store and just painted a lamp base I also found, white to go with it. It sold right away!
Here’s my booth from the door now…

And you can see in that photo that in its place along the back wall came the blue and white hutch:

And here is to the right in that back corner:

That black oak dresser I scored for only $5 at a yard sale sold, and in came this Antebellum Blue dresser I redid:

It’s difficult to stage such a low profile piece, but I tried lol.

And here is that back left corner:

And then we had this gaping hole:

The Smoky Mountains dresser sold yay!
Not to worry because this black beauty came in right behind it:

As well as this pretty Louis XVI armchair!

This white striped chest on chest dresser was hanging in there!

That cutie pie vintage step end table sold though!

Then, guess what??
I sold the black beauty antique china hutch and the Louis chair…empty again!

Yay and oh no!
I’ve mentioned before that that is always my reaction when I sell a large furniture piece. Yay, I sold a piece…and oh no…now I have a big hole in my booth!
I quickly went on the hunt for something to fill that spot as I only had smaller furniture pieces left in my haul, and I found this dresser that got a Vigorous Violet redo:

I also brought in this estate sale piece I redid with the magnolias:

And that pretty cabinet…

And guess what else sold? The blue and white hutch that was along the back wall, so I moved the Antebellum dresser in its place.

Remember the estate sale mirror I redid to match it? That is why!
I really needed something with a larger presence on that wall and I think the addition of this mirror helped!
They do make a pretty set, but I have them priced separately just in case.

I was so excited to bring in some new pieces this week and take photos when I learned that striped dresser had sold.
Yay and oh no! I wasn’t sure I could fluff my booth enough with what I had to get decent photos, but I think I did okay!
I ended up moving the magnolia piece to that wall:

I had the tall mirror in my booth just leaning against the back of the black dresser, so it filled the void above this piece nicely.

And the new box I brought in…

As well as that super sweet bunny (I still have some of those papers left HERE.)…

I sold an “art piece” that same day (the mall wasn’t very specific), and I believe it was this guy.
Here is the other corner at the back…it hasn’t changed too much:

I haven’t shown the front right corner yet, but it looked like this in September:

The vintage bookcase sold as well as the padded yard sale bench, so this corner became kind of a mishmash of items, including this Farmhouse Green Froggy bookcase I brought in:

I brought that little night table in just before Christmas.
To create a grouping in the center of my booth where the magnolia piece had been, I moved the green bookcase out of that corner:

It pairs nicely with the new bunny pieced I brought in!
And to go with the black dresser at the front, I brought in my two newest furniture pieces, this gorgeous Louis chair:

And this vintage folding game table:

I did go back and hit with two coats of Gator Hide on the top since it may be a hard worker if it is actually used for game night. And that lamp was a lucky thrift store find, already in perfect condition!

I do seem to have more color than ever though…

I redid this front corner a bit with some lighter pieces:

I need to paint some white furniture pieces to lighten the space up now.
And what has been hanging around the longest ??
This shelf I made from an antique spindle headboard:

I believe it was a full size to start. I had to cut it down, but I just love this piece, so I refuse to redo it ha ha! It’s been here since 2022. Maybe It’s telling me I should keep it? I like it stage smaller items anyway!
And here is the additional space I’ll have soon, from this angle:

My transfers back up to it at the moment and are a bit squished in there:

It will be so nice to be able to spread them out on that wall
And of course, I can’t leave without another peek at my paint wall…

I have everything you need for your next project!
Stop by the Virginia Beach Antique Mall at 3900 Bonney Rd in Virginia Beach, VA, or you can find everything you need online in my Etsy Shop HERE.
I hope y’all enjoyed the tour! I need to get to work if I plan to fill that new space!
Want to see more of my booth updates? See them all in one place HERE.
We do currently have what looks like 6-8 inches of freshly fallen snow on the ground as I am writing this, and it is expected to continue into the night, but I’ll be back with the makeover of this vintage (and very stinky) basket on Tuesday:

UPDATE: See how much better it looks (and smells) HERE now!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Yay more space for more beautiful items!!! I love seeing your booth, only I wish I could see it in person! You do a really nice job taking pictures to make it feel like I am there! It would be fun once you get your new space to do a video of the booth! It is a great motivator having your booth that keeps you going to fill such a large space with your beauitful transformations!
Christy says
I am SO excited to have the entire room! I wasn’t sure I could fill the two extra spaces when I got them, but it’s allowed me share more furniture here which I love. And now I can spread out even more woohoo! I will take a video when I get it the new space filled and share. Thank you always for the encouragement, my friend! XOXO
Janice Redden says
Christy, you have done a great job with your space – it is so inviting and says “c’mon in!” I can’t wait to see the finished additional space! I understand that feeling when a large piece sells – so happy and then uh oh, that space needs to be filled! But, you always do a beautiful job. You should offer private staging services…as if you don’t have enough to do!
If any of that snow hit your area, stay warm and be safe.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Janice! Yes, the yay, and then immediate oh no is a familiar feeling for sure ha ha! We got about 9 inches which shuts our area down pretty good, but I just finished shoveling, so I’m feeling accomplished! XOXO
Kate says
Live it all!
Christy says
Thank you, Kate! XOXO
Celia says

Hi Christy!
I enjoy your booth tours! They inspire me as much as your makeovers! 🙂
I have a small vintage/repurposed/handcrafted shop in north Georgia. I’m also a Dixie Belle Elite Retailer. 🙂 In your tour today I noticed your lighting above your paint. I am getting ready to move my paint/transfers area and would love to have lighting like you have. Would you mind sharing the details on your lights…and your rugs? 🙂
Thanks!
Sharon
Christy says
Aww I love to hear that, Sharon, thank you! And hello, fellow DB retailer! I am happy to share…I found those lights at IKEA. They are the Ranarp lights and you can clamp them on or screw them in place, I believe. I love that they have 11′ cords so they can easily reach a power strip. The rugs came from Amazon here: https://amzn.to/3ENTqdb XOXO
Lorri says
If I lived around your area(I live in Ontario, Canada) I certainly would be at your Mall looking for treasures. You have a 1 stop place with all your supplies. Must get lots of excercise by moving all your pieces to make your Booth look inviting! ????
Christy says
I wish you were closer, Lorri! Thank you! It is a bit of work loading all these pieces in, but I love the staging part, and the mall takes care of the moving out part lol! XOXO
Cecilia says
Wow, that’s really awesome selling all those pieces. It’s keeping you on your toes for sure! I always love seeing your booth and now you’re getting more space! Yay! WOW!!!! SO loved this booth tour. And to know your stuff is selling so quickly for you. Well done, Christy. It is very exciting!!! Whoo hoo!!!!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Michele! I’m so glad you enjoyed the grand tour!! XOXO
Ava says
You are so good Christy! With an excellent eye for design!
Can you explain your hanging system and how you hang the heavier pieces?
Christy says
I appreciate that so much, Ava, thank you! I use old shutter doors that I’ve found at yard sales, thrift stores, etc. And to hang items, I use large paper clips that I open to make an “S” hook. Then I can hook them right over the shutter peices to hang lighter items. Very classy ha ha, but it works great! For very heavy items, I will drill screws into the solid areas. XOXO
Julie O says
So fun to see your booth Christy! And it takes your projects from start to finish to sale. I no longer have a booth but get the concepts and really enjoyed touring yours. Excellent staging and beautiful items as always.
Christy says
Thank you, Julie! Yes….from start to finish for real! I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! XOXO
Nichole Raynor says
Oh Christy, I am so very happy that you will have the whole space!! It will be like your own shop!! I can’t wait to see the completed space!! ????
Christy says
But I WILL miss you, my friend! Having you in there while I got the rest of the space set up was such a help. Otherwise, I think it would’ve been overwhelming. I am excited to see what I can do with the whole room for sure. I’ll have to share photos when I get it situated! Wishing you all the best in your new space…I will be on the hunt for it when they open! XOXO
Nichole Raynor says

Cheryl says
Congrats on more space! Love looking at your booth!
Questions – I need to paint a 1980’s hutch. I have already cleaned it with White Lightning but I would like to know what paint I should use on it. I was thinking of the silk line but not sure and if the piece has bleed through, would that be a good paint to use? Also, do I need to sand it with that paint? Sorry, so many questions but thank you in advance!
Christy says
Thank you, Cheryl! I use Chalk Mineral Paint for the majority of my projects because I like to clean and get right to it. You do have to lightly sand and seal at the end though, so it’s a trade off. Silk is great option for these larger pieces though because although you do need to either sand first or prime with Bonding BOSS first, the sealer is built in. Here is a hutch I redid not too long ago using Silk: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/hutch-makeover-with-silk-mineral-paint/ I share all the steps/options with that line of paint. If you have any fear of bleedthough, opt to apply one coat of Bonding BOSS first rather than sand, and that will prevent any bleeding. Wait 24 hours before painting and wait two hours in between coats of paint. I hope that helps! XOXO
Rhonda Dunaway says
Christy, your space looks so lovely and congratulations on your expansion! I love seeing the blues, greens, and violets all at once. They are all in the cool range, so I think it all comes together beautifully. The displays and vignettes are so charming and comforting to look at. They make me feel like I’m being drawn into the pages of a storybook. It’s a good thing I live in Nebraska or I’d be spending all my time and money buying your creations and creating more holes for you to fill. Thank you for all the inspiration you provide.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Rhonda! I’m not used to seeing so much color in my space, but I love the storybook analogy! I always say I wish ya’ll lived closer so you could come shop, but I would be filling lots of holes lol! XOXO
Elizabeth says
Absolutely stunning!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Elizabeth! XOXO
Cyndi says
So many pretty things! I love how you’ve set it up and I’m excited for you to expand your space even more. Having a booth is a lot of work, but I know it must be fun as well.
Christy says
Thank you so much, Cyndi! It is work, but fun as well for sure! XOXO
p says
Yay ! I love a nice booth tour.
You are a Master Stager for sure. After selling pieces you just shuffle and add things and create a whole new cozy look !!
The Vigorous Violet tall dresser looks so stately. Being in the center I can’t imagine it won’t go poof soon. Such a statement piece. Love it !
I’m not surprised that black hutch sold – also a gorgeous piece.
A story book is a good description. Each section has it’s own story. 🙂
It’s now realllly clear why you are always so busy creating.
I’m glad to be part of your following to watch and learn.
Christy says
Your super kind and encouraging words mean so much, P, thank you! Each section really does have its own story. It’s so nice having enough space to be able to do that! I’m so happy to have you following along with me! XOXO
Kathryn Buckland says
Christy, I love everything you do! I visited your booth when my daughter lived up there with her Navy husband. Why have you not shared your beautiful new smile with us? I had braces jn my 40s and am SO thankful. Maybe you shared it and I missed it. Anyway, you ensure me and I look forward to your posts each week!!
Christy says
Thank you so much, Kathryn! I’m so glad you got the chance to visit while you were here! Was it you who bought the metal blue basket while you were here? I don’t share photos of myself too often, but you can see my new smile here at the end of my Halloween post from a couple of years ago: https://www.confessionsofaserialdiyer.com/outdoor-halloween-decorations-2024/ I am SO glad I got braces too! You don’t realize how much trauma your crooked teeth are causing the teeth around them until you have them straightened! Have a great week! XOXO
Jeanne says
Yay! We finally see the antebellum dresser with its mirror friend. Looks fabulous!
Christy says
Thank you, Jeanne! Hopefully, they’ll sell together! XOXO
Mary C King says
I loved your post and was touched about the shelf you made from my parent’s old spindle bed. Since we had the big snow last week I finally got the chance to drop by your booth just now. I am so very happy to tell you the shelf is in my car and heading to my place. I am so happy it was still here. ❤️
Christy says
YAY!!!!!! I saw it had sold and deep down had hoped it was you who had purchased it. It was just meant for you to have it. I absolutely adore it and thought on several occasions that I should just take it home with me but it looked so cute in my booth. I am so thrilled that it is back home where it belongs! Enjoy!!???? XOXO
Patty says
Oh Christy – I am so jealous of all the ladies who live near enough to your booth to shop! It is so lovely!! I absolutely would furnish my home with your beautiful pieces❤️. The larger space is wonderful – the floral pieces are so pretty – just love all of it – you are amazing!????
Christy says
You are the sweetest, Patty! Thank you SO much! XOXO
Diana L Cosgrove says
Christy…. I just love your taste in everything you do! Bringing the most perfect colors together that compliment each other! So wish you lived closer to Massachusetts. I’d be in your shop every single week! Good luck in all of your sales!
