Hello sweet friends!! I have a fun repurpose to share with y’all today!
I’m sharing what I made out of these candle holders I scored for 99¢ each on my last thrifting day:
I always keep an eye open for small wooden candlesticks because they can be repurposed in several ways, so of course I grabbed these!
They were the perfect size to make into tiered jewelry holders!
All I needed was some pretty china and voila:
I used one of these candle holders for the bottom tier. I didn’t even have to cut it:
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
I had to dig through my stash to find a couple of skinnier candlesticks like this one for the second tier:
These did have to be cut down though. To do that, I unscrewed the bottom piece:
Then I was able to lay it flat and level so that I could cut it with my miter saw:
Always use extreme caution especially when cutting these smaller pieces. I had to hold it in place as firmly as I could. I reattached that bottom piece once I had it cut to the length I wanted.
Then the soon-to-be center support pieces got a couple of coats of Bit of Sugar by Behr, made into DIY chalk paint. (Recipe HERE.)
I lightly sanded them with 220 grit sandpaper and sealed them with Annie Sloan’s clear soft wax.
Then I used E6000 glue to join all the pieces together:
It is quite stinky, so use it in a well-ventilated area where you can leave it sit undisturbed for 72 hours. That’s how long it suggests to obtain maximum adhesion. If you want to make one as well, be sure the bottoms of your dishes are smooth and flat so the candle holders will sit flush with the bottom.
You also want to be sure your support pieces are centered and aligned correctly so it looks like one piece going up through the whole thing.
I found these dishes at the Goodwill for $25 for 41 pieces:
However, all blue tags were 50% off, so I thought $12 wasn’t too bad for all those pieces, and I really liked the pretty pattern on this set. However, it never even occurred to me until I got home that there are only 19 pieces here! Maybe someone bought just the plates and left the rest behind? I probably could have gotten a sweeter deal if I had I noticed that!
I really loved the little creamer pitcher for the top. I glued that in place as well…
This is really ideal for holding earrings, bracelets, rings…
You could even use it to hold makeup and you could store your makeup brushes in the little pitcher!
I used the other candle holder on a second one.
Here is how the second one turned out:
This one has an M on the top:
I thought that piece was so pretty! None of these pieces matched, but they came together as a nice set, I think.
I love any excuse to peruse the dish aisles, so this was a fun project for me!
I still have one of them on my vanity!
That’s another one crossed off the list!!
