Hello lovelies!! Welcome back! I have the cutest stenciled demilune table to share with y’all today!
But first, GATOR HIDE is back in stock once again, so if you missed it the first time, you can get it HERE now!
Here is today’s $10 thrift store table that is getting its big makeover:
I love this style of table because it can fit in small areas super easily.
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
You would not recognize this table at all if you were to see it now!
Let me show you how it got there.
Sand
I decided I wanted to sand just the band around the front, so I did that first using my Ryobi Corner Cat sander and 120 grit sandpaper, followed by 220 grit sandpaper:
Clean
The next order of business was a good cleaning! I wiped this table down with White Lightning using a terrycloth applicator pad, which are perfect for the job. Then I swapped out my water for fresh water and gave it another wipe down to remove any residue. This makes your project pieces feel so clean!
Paint
Time for paint! I gave everything except the band I had sanded three coats of Cotton.
For the band across the front, I chose to use Voodoo gel stain in White Magic:
I wiped it on with one of my applicator pads and wiped back the excess with a soft cloth.
Once that was dry, I looked through my silkscreen stencils and found a design in the Roses Silkscreen Stencil set that was perfect for across the front.
I cut it to fit with my rotary cutter set:
(I actually ended up using the opposite side of this stencil.)
The silkscreen stencils are so nice since they are sticky on the back and the details show perfectly!
I filled it in with acrylic craft paint using the included spatula tool:
The tool pushes the paint right through the tiny screen that is across the openings. I used the tool to wipe away the excess paint with the clean edge, and then I removed the stencil right away:
I love that sharp detail! I just kept moving the stencil along and reusing it. You can get about 8-10 uses out of one stencil.
I like to use the craft paint instead of chalk paint with these stencils since it has a bit longer dry time, and I can use the stencil a bit longer before rinsing.
There are nine silkscreen stencil designs in my shop to choose from, and each one comes with three sheets of designs.
Seal
Once the stencil was dry, I sanded all the other areas smooth and then sealed with Best Dang Wax in Clear using my Best Dang Brush to apply the wax:.
I buffed it off with a soft clean cloth…
I chose to use wax to seal because I wanted to take photos the same day and I knew it would be ready more quickly than the Clear Coat, which is my normal go-to for sealing furniture.
The After
Would you recognize it now??
I wish I had a place for this one!
Just that little bit of stencil against the white stained surface across the front added so much!
You can really see the crisp detail of the stencil up close here:
I hope you enjoyed this makeover today! This table really has a whole new personality now!
I really love the look of the White Voodoo gel stain.
If you haven’t seen my sister’s table and chairs makeover before, you’ll be amazed at what it did for this set:

I’ll be back on Tuesday with my Trash-to-Treasure girls sharing what I did with this 80’s clock:
Have a fabulous weekend!!

Cynthia says
Great job as always.
Why do you wash after sanding? I do that sometimes.
I’m working on a 1940’s enamel topped table. I did alot of scrapping first, then started sanding, but I had to stop and clean because it was so dirty.
Cynthia
Christy says
Thank you, Cynthia! If it’s really dirty, I wash it down first just so I don’t smear the grime into the finish, and sometimes I clean after sanding. It usually depends on the piece. 🙂 XOXO

Would enjoy seeing your work area and how you keep it organized, along with the many tools that you use!
Thanks. Cheryl

Karen Jones says
All right, Christy, you out did yourself on this one! Absolutely gorgeous re-make! I guess you didn’t have any bleed through on the top and legs because you didn’t scuff sand them? I find that reddish cherry-type wood bleeds all over the place for me. But then, I usually scuff up the slick surface to help with adhesion. Am I correct on why it didn’t bleed? Educate me, please! : ) Thanks!!!
Christy says
Thank you, Karen! I did not have bleed through on this one. It is a newer piece which tends to not bleed as much as a more vintage/antique piece might. I did sand that band across the middle and did not have any bleed though issues. I also sealed with wax rather than a liquid sealer that can pull the tannins through when sealing on these more red woods. I hope that helps! XOXO
Josee says
