Fleur de Lis Dresser

Hey sweet Friends! And I'm back...again!  Today's makeover is #29 on our list and it's a good one, ya'll! I found this one at an estate sale at this quaint little cottage about six houses from the ocean: I bought a few pieces at that sale, including this farmhouse hutch and this desk, all of which I've redone and sold long ago...all except one. I went back on Sunday when everything was marked down and picked up this yellow dresser for $25: The price was right and it was in … [Read more...]

Romantic Flatware Box Makeover

It seems like there are a couple of items that I just can't seem to pass up when I go thrifting. One of them is frames, and the other is flatware boxes. It wouldn't be March Madness if I didn't share a bit of both. Today's makeover my sweet Friends, #21...can you believe it??, is this flatware box I picked up for $5: I loved the curvy lines. How could I not shove this in my cart immediately for only $5? I decided to give this one a bit of a romantic feel: And for the romance … [Read more...]

Antique Cabinet Makeover {& an Alternative to Replacing the Glass Door Panel}

Do ya'll love chocolate as much as I do? There are few things I love more, but how about as a theme for a furniture makeover? Today my furniture flippin friends and I are all sharing furniture makeovers inspired by chocolate. Say what? A few weeks ago I spied an antique cabinet at the DAV thrift store near my house. It was $79 and probably totally worth that, but the door was missing the glass and didn't close real smoothly so I passed. I went back a week later and it was marked to $49! I … [Read more...]

Curbside Suitcase Makeover

That's right, no shame here. I sure DID pick up a suitcase off of someone's curb. In fact, I picked up two! I was taking my Mom home the other day and happened through the neighborhood I grew up in when I spied these two lovelies sitting out for the trash: I'm sure these were all the rage back in the day. I quickly threw them in my car and was on my way. Today is Trash to Treasure Tuesday and I had another project in mind, but I really wanted to play around with my new luggage. (Plus … [Read more...]

Stinky Gross Flatware Box Makeover

I really just could not think of a more befitting name for this post. I found this flatware box at the thrift store for just under $5. Here it is as I found it: Ooh good find, right? There are so many possible uses for  a little chest like this... Except it needed a little TLC: Ok a LOT of TLC. So gross. It smelled so musty and yet I brought it home anyway for $5 more dollars than I should have. I would never have had the nerve to donate this! But luckily for me, someone … [Read more...]

Upcycled Flatware Box

Hi friends, and welcome to day #30 of my March Madness, 31 Thrifty Makeovers in 31 Days series! We are almost there, just two more makeovers to go! Let's start with today's thrifty find... This flatware chest that had certainly seen better days: Not so bad though, right? Oh yes it was... Yikes! After going grey on this side table I shared yesterday, I kept it going with this little chest: I didn't add any dry-brushing this time, but instead I just sanded the edges to … [Read more...]

Shabby Sweet Cradle

Can you believe we are on our 25th thrifty makeover this month? If you missed any of my March Madness makeovers, I end each post with all the links at the bottom. Are you ready for a sweet makeover? I picked up this doll cradle at a yard sale for $2 two summers ago, and its been sitting in my garage ever since! Its very well made and not bad as is, but I thought it could use a touch of what I'm calling shabby sweet: Isn't it sweet? I have boys, so I never went through the … [Read more...]

Stool Revived

Hey there, awesome friends! Welcome to day#6 of March Madness! Today I'm sharing a simple stool makeover.  Please tell me I'm not the only one who chuckles at the word, "stool"? "Stool Makeover" is even funnier to me. Any who...I found this crusty and dusty stool (ha ha) in the same shed I dug my Farmhouse Hutch out of at an estate sale. Here is the before, crust and all: Only $2 and free crust? Yes I'll take it! After a little de-crusting and a some sanding and some painting and … [Read more...]

Lacy-Drawer Side Table

Hello lovely friends, I've got another sweet makeover to share today! Take a look at this little fixer upper I found at the thrift store for $7: It's hard to tell by this photo, but it has a horrendous paint job and the black you see around the flower detail? It's ink pen.  The paint was put on so thick in areas that I knew I would have to either strip it or sand it. I chose the latter and gave it a good sanding with my orbital sander before repainting. Here is its sweet … [Read more...]

Flower Stenciled Side Table

It's time once again to join together with some of my favorite blogging friends to bring you a fun themed furniture makeover.  This month's theme is flowers. Last month's theme was "Bold". I redid a $5 yard sale chair. The theme for the month before was "Metallic". I shared a thrift store side table. I found it a bit more challenging to incorporate flowers into a piece of furniture, but I think I pulled it off. This table was a $5 yard sale find, and kind of boring as is: Here is … [Read more...]
