Hello, sweet friends! We are finally finishing this HUGE haul this week! I have just FOUR items left and will be sharing a frame and mirror update today. Then, I’ll return on Thursday with the final two frames!
Here are the two pieces I’m sharing today:
Frame Update
Up first is this large, dated framed artwork I found marked down twice to $4.98:
It retailed for $69.99 at Stein mart originally.
I started by removing the artwork and glass from this frame:

Clean
Both the mirror and this frame were cleaned with White Lightning, mixing just half a TBSP into about a quart of warm water for today’s small projects:
Once they were cleaned, I swapped out the dirty water for clean water, and wiped down once more using a terrycloth applicator pad.
Paint
I chose Dixie Belle’s Fluff for this frame to go with what else I had planned. It took two coats for solid coverage:
I lightly sanded next and then sealed using Best Dang Wax in clear, applying it with the Best Dang Brush:
I buffed it in and wiped away any excess using a clean, soft cloth:
New Artwork
To create new artwork for this frame, I pulled out Redesign’s Retro Rose Ride decoupage paper that has two large images and two smaller images:
I’ve had this one for quite a while and just love it! I finally found the perfect frame for one of the larger images.

Iron the Creases
To use decoupage paper as new art, I first used an iron on low to iron out the folds.
Then I cut a piece of foam core to fit the opening of my frame:
Next, I applied Redesign’s matte Decoupage Gel using a 2″ Foam n Dandy foam brush.. Once I laid down the paper, I applied another coat of Decoupage gel over the top.
For a large image like this, I recommend applying the gel in sections.

I secured the new art into the frame using my Logan Point Driver and then covered the back in Kraft paper using matte Mod Podge..
One of y’all who is smarter than I am told me to take a hair dryer to the back and it will shrink a bit, reducing wrinkles. It works amazingly well!
I finished this piece off by adding sawtooth hanging hardware for hanging:

How fun is this??
There’s bit of a reflection since it has the glass in it, but I just love the combination of the gorgeous aqua blue car with the floral!
The frame has just the slightest amount of distressing…
So much better than the grapes, right?
Mirror Update
Makeover number two today is this mirror I picked up for $8.99:
That’s usually more than I might spend for a smaller mirror like this, but it seemed to be a nice quality mirror. It did have that little mirrored heart on the bottom, left corner, but it ended up just being a sticker that was easily removed.
Removing the mirror was a no go
I usually remove the mirrors from their frames for safe keeping and for easier painting, but this one was held in place with glue:
I didn’t want to risk breaking the mirror, so I ended up taping it off instead.
Paint
Then, once cleaned, this one got two coats of a 50/50 mix of Vintage Duck Egg Blue and Cotton, applying it with my Belle Brush this time to get into all the details more easily:
Once I applied the second coat, I removed the tape while the paint was still wet:
If you allow the paint to dry before removing the tape, it could pull off the dried paint.
Seal
This mirror was sealed the very same way as the frame, with Dixie Belle’s Best Dang Clear Wax.
I added the mirror back and chose to cover the back of this one in this pretty paper I picked up on Amazon HERE:
It comes in a huge 100ft roll and has a nice weight to it which makes it perfect for prettying up the backs of these pieces!
Mirror Update After
It’s petite, but the perfect size to take one last peek at yourself as you’re heading out the door…
No distressing was needed here…the detail is so pretty and stands out nicely on its own:

The lamp is going to have to be set aside for now, but I will continue to be on the lookout for a shade, and the final two pieces, these frames, will be revealed on Thursday:

I kind of liked the grapes, lol, (but not the mat)but the aqua and roses are so pretty so no complaints on replacing the grapes, 😂. You’re giving me ideas for a large gold frame I just bought. It needs to be repainted so I’m paying attention to what you’re doing and going back through your projects too. Can’t believe you’re almost done with this haul! Good luck hunting!

Beautiful makeovers as usual, Christy. I went to an estate sale and got a huge haul of unfinished wood: little step stools, a sled, mini school desks, a paper towel holder, a barn shape, a bird house, and much more. All for $25.00!! It was the last day of the sale at 4:00 and they wanted to get rid of things. I will paint everything and use transfers and/or decoupage paper to restyle them for my little Etsy shop. I always come to you for inspiration!!

Loved the color of the updated mirror. Sorry to see that you did not add gilt or silver to some of the fine details on the frame. Would have loved to see that little shimmer to compliment the sparkle of the mirror.

Thank you, Diane! You know I wanted to add gold gilding wax to that frame so badly, but that takes the beachy feel away, and I wanted to give my customers one that could go beachy since we are on the coast. That gold is amazing against that blue! XOXO
