I love a good repurpose! Today I’m sharing how I turned a thrift store headboard into a fun place to hang your coat, your hat, your kid’s back packs, whatever you feel inspired to hang.
This project is for our Get Your DIY On challenge. The theme for September is Pinterest-Inspired Projects. Doesn’t that sound SO easy?? It was hard, y’all!! Do you have any idea how many potential projects I have pinned? So, instead of looking through all the amazing ideas on my Pinterest Boards to find inspiration, I found my project piece first. In this case, it was this lonely little headboard.
Hello little headboard. Then I went on Pinterest to search what I could do with my new friend. I was originally going to turn it into a bench like I did to this antique pineapple bed. But then I saw this and this and this. So many sweet ideas, and so I was inspired!
The “Hello Sunshine” was mine. I had to add a little of me in there. I thought it would be like your house welcoming you home after a long day out. 🙂
This is the Edwardian Script, one of my favorites. You can see how I transfer my lettering here.
For this project, I started by cutting the legs to the desired length using a table saw. I gave it two coats of Annie Sloan Old White and Pure White, mixed. Then I gave it a light sanding.
Next I transferred my graphic and painted it in with acrylic paint using a liner brush.
I sanded lightly again and gave the whole thing a coat of clear wax to seal. Then I added a few pretty knobs.
I think it turned out pretty darned cute!
It would be perfect just inside the door or in a mudroom, or even in a bathroom or kid’s room!
I bet this little bed had no idea how fun it could be. 🙂
I have to admit, this is not my first headboard turned organizer. If you like what I did to this one, you’ll LOVE what I did to this $5 Yard Sale Headboard!
Here is what my beautiful co-hosts came up with for this challenge:

The fun starts this Sunday, September 7th at 7:00pm EST. Come link up any project that has inspired you to stop pinning and start making or just come by to get inspired!
I can’t wait to see what everyone brings to the party!
