Happy Tuesday, Friends! I’ve got a pretty little makeover to welcome you back after the long weekend.
I spied this petite side table at the thrift store when I was on my way out the door last week:
It was marked $34.95, but all furniture was 20% off and I had a $5 off coupon, so not too bad for $23.
If you saw my armoire makeover on Thursday, you might remember the drawers on the inside got the striped treatment, and I decided to go with the same look for this little table as well:
I really love that look. I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I use.
You almost miss all the pretty detail on this little table in its before state…
The finish on the top was pretty rough, so I had no reservations about taking a brush to this piece. I started by giving it a good coat of spray shellac first since it most definitely would be a bleeder. (Cherry and mahogany pretty much always bleed through.)
Then I gave it two coats of Dixie Belle chalk paint in Fluff.
Most chalk paints would need three coats for solid coverage in white over the dark original finish, but this paint has excellent coverage. Dixie Belle Paints were nice enough to send me a few colors to try a while back, and this one is almost gone. I might have to break down and buy some more.
While I had my Annie Sloan French Linen (diluted 1/3 white) out from painting my armoire, I decided it would be perfect for this piece too. I used FrogTape for delicate surfaces to get those crisp stripes…
This combination of the white with French Linen stripes is a good seller for me.
I sealed this table with Miss Mustard Seed’s Furniture wax. It is fairly new to me and I like it so far. It is creamier and more like body butter than the Annie Sloan I usually use. I loved that, just trying something new!
I kept the original hardware, it just got a couple of coats of the same white paint, scratched some off here and there, and then I gave it a quick spray with clear matte spray sealer.
I gave the drawer an unexpected pink lining…
Just a fun pop of color!
You might remember I shared how I reupholstered a pair of these chairs last month…
I’m thrilled I was able to keep them! And that sweet teacup lamp was a HomeGoods find several years ago.
You can see how easy it was to make that ENJOY sign HERE. No fancy skills required, I promise:
My hydrangeas are just starting to bloom…these are the first cuts of the season:
This was a delightful piece to work on after the armoire drama! I hope you enjoyed it too. 🙂
I’ll be back on Thursday sharing this dresser I scored at my first yard sale of the season:
UPDATE: See the after of this dresser HERE now!
XOXO,
Don’t Miss a Thing!
If you like what you see, there are several ways to follow along!

I love how that turned out, it is beautiful. I wish I had more time for garage sales, I love going to them, especially if you can find a dresser like that. Some of the thrift stores are getting really pricey. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the dresser.
Christy says
Thanks, Mary! Last year I only went to one yard sale the entire summer because I had accumulated so many pieces already. Hoping I can do it a bit more this summer! XOXO

That tea cup lamp so well with the table as well as the chair.
Can’t wait to see the dresser make-over. Always something to look forward to. :}
I can’t wait till my ‘she’ shed gets finished (building a 16×24) so that I can repurpose some furniture pieces.
Christy says
Thank you, Colleen! I’m glad I spied it out of the corner of my eye as I was just about to leave! How cool that you will have a she-shed, and a nice sized one too…that will be so fun to decorate! XOXO
