Coastal Tray Makeover

Hi Friends! Are you up for a thrifty makeover today? I found this super large oval tray at the thrift store  a few weeks back. This thing is really big! It was $12, but I just had to bring it home: This was gorgeous at one time, but had really started to show its age, so I decided to give it a completely new look: Doesn't even look like the same tray, right? I painted the tray in a mix of Annie Sloan's French Linen and Pure White. Then I created this graphic in Photoshop … [Read more...]

DIY Bead Board Tray

Happy Easter, Friends! Last week when I shared my Romantic Flatware Box Makeover, I mentioned that one thing besides flatware boxes that I can't pass up is a good frame. I have a huge stack of them. Today is March Madness Thrifty Makeover #27 and up for a makeover today is, you guessed it, a frame! I spotted this pair of frames and knew immediately that they would make perfect trays, and trays always sell quickly in my booth. What was even better is that they were only $1.25 each! Here … [Read more...]

Numbered Tray

Hi sweet Friends! I'm back today as promised sharing what I did with this tray I found for $5 at the thrift store: I can't even tell you how long this has been hanging around my garage! When I did my super cleaning a few weeks ago, I found it again. Our Get Your DIY On theme this month is Numbered and Lettered projects so I knew this would be a great candidate for this challenge: I decide to fill the bottom with random numbers! I love how it turned out! I created … [Read more...]

White-Washed Reclaimed Wood Tray

Hi there lovely friends! I am still catching up from this past weekend in Atlanta at the Haven Blogging conference.  It was a total blast seeing all my favorite blogging buddies again. I'll be back soon to share some fun pics! Today I am sharing what I did with this yard sale frame, and these old fence pickets I scored from a house that was being renovated: Can you see the price tag on the frame? That's one whole dollar. Score! I saw this frame as a tray right away. I started by … [Read more...]

DIY Scarf Tray

If you were asked to use a scarf in a new way, what would you do? That's how a lot of these transformations happen around here. A fabulous blogger comes up with a fun idea for a post and invites a bunch of other bloggers to join in the fun. Ms. Lauren of The Thinking Closet (who really is super fabulous) and her blogging pal, Vanessa from Tried and True hosted Scarf Week last year during the Discovery Channel's Shark Week. This year to make it even bigger and better, they invited a bunch of … [Read more...]

My Favorite Decorating Tool

Hi friends! Today I am sharing my very favorite decorating tool. My décor enthusiast friends and I are talking about decorating using trays for this month's challenge. This is not really a challenge of course! Decorating with trays makes creating the perfect table vignette so much easier! Check out this cabinet top display: Not too bad, but how about now?... I love how a tray adds another layer and grounds the vignette. By the way, I am NOT a professional decorator lol. This is … [Read more...]

Reclaimed Wood Tray

Reclaimed. You can call fence pickets that you rescued from the trash, reclaimed right?  Remember Mr. House Flipper who I weaseled those old fence pickets from? Those pickets are excited to be a part of March Madness! Today is day #22!! One of those fence pickets, AKA reclaimed wood pieces, are joining forces with this sweet picture and frame for today's makeover: Add a little paint and some handles. and it's a fun reclaimed wood tray! This frame started out at $6.98, but had … [Read more...]

Three French Trays

Bonjour!  It's day #12 of my March Madness series, and I am all about lovely French graphics today! I picked up this set of three trays at the thrift store a long long time ago: I paid about $13 dollars for all three, but aside from the broken handle on one of them, they were in perfect condition. I made these over to sell at my last Christmas Market show. They got a  fresh new attitude! They were painted with my favorite DIY Chalky paint recipe (using Cottage White by … [Read more...]

Faux Drawer Tray

Hi there and welcome to Day #10 in this fun thrifty makeover series! Today's makeover is pretty quick and simple. I started with this tray I found at the thrift store for $2: Can't pass up a perfectly good wooden whatever-this-is, right? There wasn't much to it, but I figured I could make something out of it. To me it looked like it could be a small drawer if it had a knob, so I gave it the feel of a repurposed drawer: Here it is in my dining room hutch holding a few … [Read more...]
