Hello, amazing friends! I’m here today with an unfinished wood table makeover. But first, I want to say thank you SO MUCH for supporting my small business!!
Y’all kept me and my Etsy Shop so busy this weekend, and what a blessing you are to me and my family!
This was just one run to the post office of many:

I love that I can provide all the materials needed to get your creativity going!
That left little time for working on new projects, so I’m pulling out this oldie today to reshare since it fits the season.
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I use.
Unfinished Table Makeover
My Dad used to make these wood tables back in the day when my parents and I did several craft markets a year:

My Mom would paint scenes on them, and they sold like hotcakes.
They had a few left over that they passed along to me. I painted one several years ago and shared it HERE, and I actually still have a couple hanging around our garage that I need to dust off.
Sand
I always start unfinished wood pieces with a good sanding.
I use 220 grit sandpaper that I buy in sheets and cut into fours. Then I can easily wrap the sandpaper around an old foam sanding block:
I also filled in a few nail gun holes and imperfections on this piece. Dixie Mud is perfect for this step.
Then, I used my shop vac to vacuum all the dust, and a soft cloth to wipe it down once more.
Paint
When I originally redid this table, I used the primer left over from our kitchen cabinets, but nowadays, I would just go straight to painting.
This table was painted in a lovely coastal green very similar to Sea Glass or Tidepool from the Silk Mineral Paint line:
I might even half those with Cotton or Fluff to get a bit lighter color.
But I wanted to do more than just paint this simple piece. Always, right??
I decided to add something fun to the top in the way of graphics.
It may feel like Winter outside here, but I snuck in some coastal!
Adding Graphics to the Top
To add the graphics, I first created them in Photoshop Elements. You could also use Word or whatever editor you have available. (I used Bickham Script font and Felix Titling font.)
Then, I opened my graphic in my Silhouette Cameo and created a stencil out of clear contact paper ( I use that in place of vinyl because I’m cheap lol)…
If you make a lot of signs, you might want to add a Silhouette Cameo to your Christmas wishlist! You can see there that I also used my favorite Frog Tape to create a border.
I painted everything in with acrylic craft paint, brushing away from the edges as much as possible. I like acrylic paint for this step since it doesn’t dry so quickly.
Then, I peeled off the contact paper and tape as soon as I added the second coat of paint.
I gave everything a fine sanding with 220 grit sand paper as soon as the paint was dry to smooth everything out.
Seal
Finally, I sealed with Dixie Belle’s Clear Coat in Satin.
Let’s see how this one turned out, shall we?

This is a beautiful soft green and of course I love the coastal vibe it has.
I dressed up the drawer with a few stripes and a pretty glass knob:
Here’s a peek at the finished top:

“What happens at the beach…stays at the beach.” I could see this in a beach cottage rental, and there are several of those around here.
The inside of the drawer was painted in the same beachy green…
It was fun to deck it out for the Holidays!

I hope you enjoyed this fun redo. It was fun to decorate it for the holidays!
Once I get completely caught up on orders (almost there!), I’ll be decking the halls around here, but I’ll be back with this oldie but goodie on Thursday:

UPDATE: See what I did to give it a major update HERE now!

I remember this one, and how much I loved it! It turned out so beautiful! Your mom and dad are so taltented, your dad builds amazing tables, and your mom painting them, I am sure that is why you are so talented, it carried over from your parents! Good job Mom and Dad!
Christy says
Thank you, Mary! I am so grateful for their creative spirit living on in me! They don’t build or paint anymore, sadly, but it gave them enjoyment for many years! XOXO

Good morning, Christy!!
My goodness, you’ve been BUSY!!! I am so happy your followers (including me) blessed you with so many orders!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
Love the green ???? table. It does look so cute dressed up for the holidays. The saying you chose is so perfect for your area.
Oh, by the way, I found a basket in your Project Gallery that I wanted for inspiration to redo one that I recently purchased. As it turned out, I am going a different direction with mine. However, I so appreciate your “super organized” Project Gallery!!! Thank you!!

Hi Christy, I love this little table. But what I really loved are the stack of books decoration.
Can you tell me how you made them? I cant
tell if it is fabric or plastic that the books are wrapped in. Thanks
Christy says
Hi Zoya! Those are just presents wrapped on the chair and I added a bit of greenery to the top. You could totally do that with books though for Christmas as a decoration! XOXO

I remember this table. It turned out great, such a soft and pretty color. Still love it.
Oh goodness! That’s a lot of orders! (Mine’s in there somewhere, lol). You inspire us each week so we want to give it a try too. I appreciate your updated project gallery – I found a small table similar to the one given to me so used that to determine what I needed to order to round out my supplies and of course the “pretties”. Then the red paint for frames that will frame my holiday art. Can’t wait to play with my goodies. ????
Christy says
Aww thank you, Cecilia! Yes, we were busy bees this weekend for sure. I saw your order come through…it’s like I’m boxing up gifts for special friends! I’m so glad the updated gallery is much more user friendly. I can’t wait for you to get your goodies!! XOXO

Christy says
Thank you, Berni! I have a couple of these left, and knowing my dad made them which he no longer does, makes me want to redo one for myself! And yes, we had great sales today! XOXO
