Hello sweet friends! Today I’m back sharing this steal of a deal Bombay table that I scored for less than $8:
It started at the bargain basement price of $15.25 and then it was 50% off that!
That made it $7.60 before tax…insane! This is the Goodwill closest to our house and they have a really small area allotted for furniture, so they price it to move! An old pilled sweater will be $6 though…not cheap! Go figure.
I decided instead to give the top a whitewashed finish:
I’ve included a few affiliate links so you can find the products I love.
The top piece was not solid wood, but the very top was a thick veneer so I was able to sand as much as I needed.
This is the perfect base for a coastal white-washed finish. I followed up with Dixie Belle’s Fluff watered down with water (about three parts paint to one part water). I brushed it on and immediately wiped it off with a clean cloth:
I shared this process in a video you can see below:
If you have trouble viewing, find it on YouTube HERE.
The rest of the table was painted in two coats of Dixie Belle’s Fluff.
I sanded all over, including the whitewashed top, with 220 grit sandpaper. Then the top was sealed with Gator Hide. I imagined this piece in an entryway catching keys and wanted to give it an extra durable topcoat.
It’s hard to tell in the photo above, but Gator Hide does have some sheen to it. The rest of the table was sealed with Clear Coat in Satin.
This stone wall is Airstone Veneer. I did a feature wall of it in my office. You can see more about it HERE.
Piece number three done!
See the first two makeovers below if you missed them!
I’ll be back on Tuesday with the Cheers tray:
This one was cute as-is, but I thought it still had some untapped potential!
UPDATE: No need to come back! Check out how I redid this tray HERE now!
Have an amazing weekend!!
